I got pregnant at 32, which resulted in a medically necessary abortion I had to cross state lines for. Carrying that child to term would have likely resulted in my death. Did I want that child? Yes, yes I did. But with my medical issues, I wouldn't be able to afford all the treatments I would have had to go through in order to have, maybe, a safe delivery. I'm not irresponsible, and I did want my baby. But my income, my health, and my access to resources handicapped me. It's been two years, and I'm still not over it.
