It's a conflict of ideas between liberal-democracy and autocracy/authoritarianism and this is happening inter-state and intra-state. Likewise Orban in Hungary or Netanyahu in Israel despite their countries being liberal-democracies and historical allies.

The discussion happening in that thread was no different than any of the other threads on the other political subreddits. There was no relation to the Monterey Bay whatsoever. Now we have this thread where people are coming up with minor conspiracy theories and conjecture. Assuming that the mods have a political bias, saying things like "RIP Democracy" and the like.
