So there's this japanese program called "Japan Exchange and Teaching" (JET), which brings college graduates from around the world to japan as Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) () and Sports Education Advisors or Coordinators for International Relation (both of which only account for 10% so we'll skip over them), making them teach from kindergartens to high schools about everywhere in Japan. In 2019, there were about 6k people participating in that program, with half of them coming from the US. Smell the issue? Right, weebs .

Is this the biggest fricking joke in the ESL community? It's amazing seeing the cope from people there thinking that they're real teachers, when all they do is prepare two resources a week, read out some dialogue, and spend the rest of their time in crappy Izakaya's and Shibuya. I feel immensely guilty about being paid an (at least for japan ALTs) decent salary from the taxpayers. I spend most of my time at work outside of class studying Japanese so I can get N1 and find literally any other job than being JET. I desperately want to be literally anything other than a tax-dollar burn.

You're forgetting an important thing, though. It's also an EXCHANGE program. Japan wants JETs to learn about Japan, show it off to their friends, and bring it back to around the world for soft power. (I regularly tell myself this to cope with how little teaching work I do.)

Also the average JET is a gaijin bubble rainbow-haired leftist weeb. I can't fricking fathom what attracts these kinds of people to a conservative, collectivist country. The absolute last straw was recently when I saw a message about a middle school ALT making a pride month english board. Hid my group chat permanently.

I work in Tech and every time I'd go to an event being the only other white guy I'd get just orbited by JET's because of it. Here's a few tidbits I've noticed

Jet's often will ask for any kind of way to get out of their industry as said, but will never stop asking you while most do 0% about it because it requires effort

Have essentially no social awareness that yes you are in another country but that does not make you king of the hill. The amount of JET's who are so fricking wrong in aspects of japan is mind boggling

Will cling to you like a beaten house wife the moment you keep any lose contact with them as they have no friends

Often are far more wrong than right in regards to most shit in Japan

Blissfully unaware that the only reason women are even talking to them is because they want a quick move to america strategy

Literally have no plans that being outside continue to work JET get that N# whatever and then use "those highly valued skillsets for a wide variety of jobs needing english and japanese" without any actual skillsets

I think after my first year of trying to deal with JET's and give it an actually honest and true effort I realized there is no hope. You're going to meet someone who is not your friend, they simply want to vent to you like you're their bartender and suck you for any information or chance to exit JET.

Would be tough but it’s possible. You’ll not be in a “desirable” area most likely.

As you probably know, tiny messed up studios can be thousands per month.

I would keep your idea of location of the apartment very broad to allow for COL variables, mostly involving the rent itself.

Basically if you can find an actually manageable apartment, most other things fall into place.

You also wouldn’t be going out a lot, doing vacations etc.

It’s going to be a bit of a meager life.

I mean it depends what you value in life.

They will certainly be living in a small and old apartment with old appliances and have to trudge down stairs to do laundry. Good luck getting your landlord to tell your neighbor to turn down the trap music at 3 AM.

But they will be a subway ride away from some of the best museums in the world. There will be cheap food carts that will blow your mind a block away at 1 AM. You will meet the coolest people at one of the 4 bars around the corner. Want to see incredible live theater or music on a random Tuesday? Urban parks to die for…

It’s not for everyone, but for some the trade offs are worth it

You’re not wrong per se, but I feel like whenever I hear this, it needs to be asterisked.

*You’ll likely be an hour or more (and a subway transfer away) from the best museums in the world. Food carts can be very meh and are generally not the kind of food you want to be eating frequently, and there’s not always four bars on every corner with awesome people in it; they do exist, but it’s incredibly dependent on where you live.

I’m not trying to rain on the parade, but I also don’t think it paints a very accurate picture because you’re basically describing living in a cool area of Manhattan, which lots of people, like OP, likely can’t afford.

Don’t move to NYC unless you have to. I’ve lived in the area all my life, there is a better quality of life elsewhere.

The city income tax is not cheap. I moved to Long Island to stay close to the nyc area and my take home increased and I have a better quality of life as a remote worker.

the taxes are not all that bad considering what they'll save on not owning a car and dealing with the occasional parking ticket.

Another consideration: data analysts can make more in New York, and there are more opportunities for advancement (due to the density of jobs).

A quick Glassdoor search says the median data analyst makes $97k in New York, so even if you move with your current remote job, you could job search and find something better-paid pretty quickly.

But New York also has the most jobs, the highest density of jobs, and the highest rate of job density growth. Meaning once you're there, there are more opportunities to move up (or move laterally) to better opportunities.

NYC is awesome. There’s a definite learning curve to living here but the longer you stay the easier life gets. My husband and I together make 85k a year. You can do it, but you will have to live intentionally and frugally - ride a bike, cook beans and rice - but it’s 1000 percent worth it.

Now prohibitions of sexual immorality might seems strange to an atheist for a few reasons. If you think of the Bible as the collected wisdom of eons, and the best code of living for human life (which is a way of thinking about the bible but I'm not saying its the only way) then why is having sex wrong? After all, isn't having sex the only way people reproduce, and isn't the purpose of life to reproduce and have offspring?

Firstly, let's get one thing straight. The Bible does not forbid sex - far from it. In fact, an entire book of the Bible, Song of Solomon, is the equivalent of a dirty text message, and it seems almost pornographic at places where it describes the lucious breasts of his beloved. (Fun fact: Young Jewish Boys were often prohibited from reading Song of Solomon)

Furthermore, having sex is, in fact, a part of God's plan for humanity. God commanded Adam and Eve to "be fruitful and multiply"... and you can be sure he didn't mean doing math homework! The fact is that God made sex as something for us to enjoy, and also as a part of his plan for Earth.

SO, if all this is true, what is sexual immorality, and why is it so bad? Sexual immorality is the act of having sex outside of the context of marriage. That's the key - marriage. Having sex isn't wrong if you are married.

That still doesn't seem too bad, right? I mean, maybe it's not that big of a deal. However, the first part of Romans 6:23 tells us:

Now let me take off my Christian hat and put on my Atheist hat. How could the sin of sexual immorality lead to death? After all, isn't the ideal sexual strategy as a human to have sex with as many women as possible before you die? Isn't "marriage" just a roadblock between you and being the most successful organism? Is this "sin" just something we avoid to please God, or is there more to it?

The first thing to consider are sexually transmitted diseases. Now these nasty buggers have been with us for a long time, and you can be sure they were with us in the biblical era. If you only have sex in the context of marriage, your chances of contracting an STD is very low -- you're only going to be having sex with a single woman, after all, who is very unlikely to have had sex with another man. This means that your overall chances of actually having more offspring increase as you limit the amount of sexual partners you have. Having one child every three years is better than having two children but dying due to siphilus.

Yesterday someone mentioned TLOU2 in a comment and it reminded me of the TLOU2 drama which many of you may not be familiar with, I'm home sick so you get to enjoy an effortpost. Click the show more button for marseys and videos.

Some background [TLOU 1 Spoilers ahead]

The Last of Us was a breakout hit in 2013 from the developer Naughty Dog, their first new IP after the award winning Uncharted series. The game is a post apocalyptic drama focused on surviving after the world ends due to a fungus-zombies. It stars two characters, Joel and Ellie, we watch Joel develop from hard and emotionless after the loss of his daughter in the prologue and Ellie matures from precocious teenager to quick witted survivalist who later kills a bunch of p-dophile cannibals. The game concludes with the heroic antifa group kidnapping Ellie to study her brain and find out how to make a cure for fungus zombies and the choice Joel eventually makes on whether to save her, or let her die for the good of huge manatees.

The anti-gubbermint group doesn't have any logistical capacity to mass produce a cure, assuming the doctor (I don't even remember if they have a doctor or if he's just a veterinarian pretending to be a doctor) can magically come up with a cure. The game also sprinkles in several audio recordings you can find that talks about how they've dissected several immune people and still haven't worked out a cure. It kind of goes out of its way to portray heroic anti-bad guy squad as not so good guy, while the morality of the ending is intended to be up for you to decide most people thought "yeah maybe sacrificing my surrogate daughter to be lab experiment #72 isn't a swell idea."

The Last of Us part 2 releases in 2020 7 years later. If you ever feel like the rise of transsexualism has been like some kind of bizarre conspiracy, it turns out there is quite a lot of truth to that theory. An investigation published in May on feminist news and opinion website Reduxx by investigative journ*list Genevieve Gluck revealed collaboration between a professional organisation for transsexual health and members of a fetish forum community that originated in the 90s on Usenet.

The original stories were originally posted to rDrama earlier in this thread. I wrote a rundown of what these stories found on Kiwi Farms, but it included some information not found in the articles, so I'm reposting it here. Some archive links have been omitted to fit the character limit.

In December 2021 the professional organisation WPATH, World Professional Association for Transgender Health, published a draft for the 8th edition of its Standards of Care (SOC), which are guidelines for health professionals to assist transsexuals with their "gendered selves".

WPATH is a non-profit organisation that is mostly known for their Standards of Care for transsexuals, but also:

WPATH charges between $15 to $225 for membership to their organisation. They currently have over 3,300 members. They have links to the American Psychiatric Association who publish the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders (DSM), and the World Health Organization.

On the first page of WPATH's SOC V8 draft chapter for eunuchs, they say:

[...]the greatest wealth of information about contemporary eunuch-identified people is found [...] on sites such as the Eunuch Archive (www.eunuch.org) [...]

The Eunuch Archive has been briefly noticed by both Kiwi Farms and a lot earlier by Something Awful. The community has origins back to Usenet newsgroup alt.eunuchs.questions that started in the mid-90s. Early in its life the Eunuch Archive's website stated that it existed thanks to the generosity of the Body Modification Ezine (BME), a website partially dedicated to members mutilating themselves.

BME is mostly notable for running a competition called the Pain Olympics. A hoax video pretending to be an official contribution to this competition went viral in the late 2000s.

Members of the eunuch and Eunuch Archive communities discuss fantasies and services for castration, nullification, male feminisation, and body modification surgery. An FAQ from the Eunuch Archive's early history recommends torture, bondage, and cutting porn forums.

The administrator of the Eunuch Archive goes by the username Jesus. At the time of this article, Reduxx hadn't discovered his actual identity. In 2010 he posted insider information about how WPATH was changing their language surrounding the diagnosis of transsexualism away from indicating mental illness. He also said that these changes would be part of the American Psychiatric Association's upcoming 5th edition of the DSM. The 5th edition of the DSM also removed terms for sexual obsession with genital mutilation, known as Skoptic syndrome.

In 2016 after WPATH's symposium the same year, Jesus posted that WPATH president Eli Coleman asked him at the event to provide input on eunuchs for the next version of their SOC. Jesus requested in that thread and in another thread in 2018 for input from the Eunuch Archive community. In a different thread from 2021, a forum user posted that he "[...] would gladly throw millions of confused people under the bus [...]" campaigning "[...] for a world where doctors must obey and have no right to demand reasons or withhold surgery and medication,".

WPATH's SOC V8 draft chapter for eunuchs specifically mentions the Eunuch Archive's Fiction Archive on the first page:

The Fiction Archive, which is part of the Eunuch Archive, is neither medically nor historically accurate and is filled with fantasy (Piccolo et al 2019; Piccolo et al submitted).

This fiction archive contains over 3,700 of stories with sadistic child sexual abuse. These include fetishisation of child castration in author wish-fulfilment or coercive and forceful scenarios, doctors raping children, Nazis, child s*x trafficking, castration of prepubescent children so paedophile protagonists could keep their bodies childlike, and child killings. Partial historical lists of these stories are available on the Wayback Machine. Reduxx captured this screenshot of a password-protected area of the Eunuch Archive by competing a membership application revealing what the category list looks like in contemporary times.

Fetishisation is a common theme on Eunuch Archive, with new members asked if they are interested in specific fetishes such as forced castration. Surveys conducted on the forum about members' interest in becoming a eunuch revealed many responses stating it allowed them to be more submissive, or better slaves to a master.

Another member of the Eunuch Archive has also collaborated with WPATH. Dr. Krister Hildahl Willette, whose username is Kristoff, gave a lecture at WPATH's symposium in 2009 about eunuchs as a gender identity. This was later published to WPATH's International Journal of Transgender Health (then known as the International Journal of Transgenderism) in 2010.

Dr. Willette grifted for the Eunuch Archive over PayPal and PO Box under the organisation name Wyrm Wyvern Inc. This page proves he owns the organisation. The state of Minnesota involuntarily dissolved this organisation in 2019 (PDF). Reduxx asserts that this nonprofit corporation's activities were being used for personal gain, but I couldn't verify that.

The dox for Dr. Willette is available on Kiwi Farms.

Dr. Willette and Jesus arranged annual meetings with Eunuch Archive members in Minneapolis, where Dr. Willette lives and the former location of WPATH's headquarters. WPATH president Eli Coleman also lives in Minneapolis.

Dr. Willette also uploaded some embarrassing videos to YouTube in 2006 and 2007. In each he wears a full body nun outfit.

Top Academic Behind Fetish Site Hosting Child Sexual Abuse Fantasy, Push To Revise WPATH Guidelines

A follow-up article by Reduxx unmasked the identity of the Eunuch Archive administrator Jesus. His name is Dr. Thomas W. Johnson as revealed by this post, though I think that link was removed from the article.

He's a professor for California State University at the Chico campus who retired in 1998. He continues to present events for the university, with his latest one on May 5th this year called "Serendipity and the Expansion of the Transgender Umbrella". A presentation he made in 2014 is still available online.

Dr. Johnson has contributed to academic journals outside of WPATH's IJTH. In 2019 he wrote a paper based on surveys he conducted with the members of the Eunuch Archive that was published in The Canadian Journal of Human Sexuality. In 2008 he published a paper titled "A Passion for Castration: Characterizing Men Who Are Fascinated with Castration, but Have Not Been Castrated" in The Journal of Sexual Medicine revealing that the majority of survey participants on the Eunuch Archive were interested in castration because of sexual fantasy. (PDF. See Table 3 on page 5.)

These people don't just interact online between adults and academics. A newsletter from the Chico campus of California State University dated during 2007 says that Dr. Johnson was president of the Children's Folklore Section of the American Folklore Society (PDF, page 17).

The identity of one other leading site member was discovered by Reduxx and revealed in this article, though they didn't post direct proof they're the same person. Dr. Richard Joel Wassersug is apparently the user eunuchunique, has a Wikipedia page, and has been a member of the Eunuch Archive for over 20 years.

Dr. Wassersug has a very large footprint. He is an honorary professor in the Department of Cellular and Physiological Sciences at the University of British Columbia, professor in the Department of Medical Neurosciences and Psychology at [Dalhousie University](https://LinkedIn profile URL ending: richard-wassersug-99b70434 (removed due to rDrama restriction); image capture), and professor at the Australian Research Centre in S*x, Health and Society for La Trobe University.

Dr. Wassersug writes papers such as this one from 2008 titled Mastering Emasculation for the Journal of Clinical Oncology. He wrote about "coming out" as a eunuch after surgery for prostate cancer in around 2008. He collaborated in writing a book titled Androgen Deprivation Therapy published in 2018.

In 2010 Dr. Wassersug began appearing on Australia's government funded radio stations.

In WPATH's 2009 symposium they presented a session together with other professors on developing WPATH's SOC for eunuchs (PDF, page 6 with the time 2.55). They also collaborated on this bizarre article in 2014 on The Conversation saying that the Islamic State can't be a caliphate because they don't have eunuchs.

In 2015 Dr. Johnson and Dr. Willette collaborated with other academics to write a paper called "The sexual side of castration narratives", directly mentioned the Eunuch Archive in The Canadian Journal of Human Sexuality (PDF).

In 2011, all three professors Dr. Johnson, Dr. Willette, and Dr. Wassersug spoke at WPATH's 2011 symposium (PDF, on page 9 beside TRACK B). During that conference WPATH declassified transsexualism as a psychological disorder and recommended changing the language around transsexualism.

So there is this stream in Vermont named "Negro Brook" and some people wanted to change that, but they couldn't agree on what to change it to. The Library Board is in charge of deciding the final name

The campaign had become contentious soon after Burlington residents Evan Litwin () and Alex Hazzard started the Rename Negro Brook Alliance in 2019. Their single-minded approach had alienated some locals in Townshend. Their relationship with State Librarian Jason Broughton (), the first Black person to hold that post in Vermont, was also strained.

Activists had gathered more than 25 signatures on a petition and proposed a new name: Susanna Toby Brook, in honor of a 19th-century Black resident of the area, Susanna Toby Huzzy, whose story was unearthed by Vermont historian Elise Guyette ().

Some people wanted to name it after Susanna Toby Huzzy, who was some black lady who happened to live in a town nearby back in the 1800s.

White dude () remembers the Abenaki who still own the land because they killed a deer 10 miles from here 300 years ago. Got permission from local Natives (white larpers/Elizabeth Warrens, all the actual natives got genocided) for the name change:

I did want to just say," Litwin () began, his goateed face framed between two tall houseplants, "that the land that we're discussing today ... is the unceded territory and traditional homeland of the Elnu band of the Abenaki." He announced that the Elnu band had endorsed their proposed name change.

Now they debated whether "Negro" was offensive.

"I was just curious," said James Saunders () of Plainfield, an emeritus professor of Black literature at Purdue University. "The United Negro College Fund, should that be changed, too, do you think?"

"I don't see, personally, how that is relevant to my petition," responded Litwin (), who is white. "They are a widely respected organization that have the right to keep or change their name. What the United Negro College Fund is not is public land on a map that everyone has to physically interact with."

They tried to invite all 3 black Vermonters to a segregated meeting, Vermonters were not about that:

In April, Hazzard explained, the alliance held a meeting for people who lived in and around Townshend. The meeting included an "affinity space" for Black, Indigenous and people of color. BIPOC attendees, Hazzard relayed, agreed that the name should be changed but did not think the new name should reference "white saviorhood" or slavery.

Bruce Post, the white library board chair, asked Hazzard what he meant by white saviorhood. Hazzard said, as an example, that **it would be inappropriate to rename the brook in reference to the Underground Railroad, because doing so would focus on "white folks saving Black folks from slavery." Litwin () nodded in agreement. **

Post then quoted a months-earlier statement by Litwin () describing the Townshend Historical Society's proposal of Freedom Brook as "polite racism."

Broughton () said the alliance is "doing an admirable thing" and that he wanted to help their effort be successful.

He then started a long, detailed timeline of their interactions.

In early stages, Broughton () explained that he had urged Litwin () to seek the support of people in Townshend — not because the brook is theirs to name, but because it's important to have a "unifying petition." Litwin () in turn, declined meetings with Broughton () , pledged to muster political pressure from the NAACP and former state representative Kiah Morris [former legislator who was harassed by an actual white Supremacist], and filed records requests with Broughton ()'s office, the state librarian said.

They wanted to name it after Susanna Toby Huzzy, a black Woman who lived nearby, but apparently Hussy is a slur.

Broughton () said he personally did not think the word "Negro" was racist and alluded — obliquely — to problems with their proposed replacement — "Toby." He urged them to abandon their petition and start over.

The activists pushed forward anyway. In a message to supporters days after the December hearing, alliance leaders wrote that they were "shocked and disturbed" by library board members' comments and vowed to combat "misogynistic behavior" that is "rooted in unconscious bias against those who support our efforts, our research, and Susanna Toby/Huzzy herself."

"The question that you asked me," Broughton () said, "and I took this personal, and I'm saying this on the record. It has no merit for the board to consider, but it's just me. I've always wanted to ask you, why did you ask the question to me this way in front of my staff, and Evan and Alex: 'What and who gives you the right to critique my work?'"

"I will never forget that," he said.

Post then popped another surprise. He unveiled a slideshow presentation of his own research into the racial history of "Toby," including newspaper clippings from the 1980s and a recent discrimination case in Canada in which a former prison guard was awarded $964,000 in damages for, in part, being called the word by his coworkers. The slur is a reference to the character in the 1976 book Roots, Kunta Kinte, who was renamed Toby by a slaveholder. The slaveholder later cut off half of Kinte's foot to stop his escape attempts.

"If Huzzy was considered offensive and unusable, I don't see why Toby should be given a pass," Post said, "especially when, out of his lived experience, the state librarian () told me about how it was used when he was growing up."

Litwin (), Hazzard and Guyette () maintained that they hadn't discounted Broughton ()'s personal experience. "I'm really sorry that this has become so adversarial and contentious," added library board member Maxie Ewins. "I don't know what to say."

Prolouge

This story begins with /r/RoeVWadeCelebration. Now, I have a general rule when trolling to never argue for things I actually agree with, and I lean slightly pro-life on the issue of abortion (I'm more of a centrist, but I think pro-choice people have terrible arguments. Like I get it you are losing "freedom", but that is entirely tangential to the problem at hand ). However, I couldn't resist a good opportunity to troll redditors, so I decided to try Christmaxxing (more on that on my other post). I had been meaning to try it, but had never gotten around to it. (trolling rightoids is too much fun)

I had some good fun trolling /r/RoeVWadeCelebration's resident lolcows, but I wanted to bring more actual Christposters into the fold (dramamaxxing), so I went to the most logical place to find Pro-Life Christposters - /r/Christianity. Boy was I wrong.

The Absurd Nature of /r/Christianity

Even a cursory glance at /r/Christianity will reveal that there is something very bizarre going on. Firstly, pretty much everything posted there has a rather liberal bias (compared to "normal" conservative Christianity). In fact, it seems almost apologetic for being Christian. And, more importantly, a decent chunk of posters aren't even Christians!

So, what's going on? Well, based on my observations, /r/Christianity has three distinct groups of people that browse it.

1. The Atheist Agitators : These people browse /r/Christianity in an attempt to debunk the lies of religion. Obviously, the vast, vast majority of redditors are atheists, so it makes sense that we would have a decent-sized population of them. They also get a lot of upmarseys for the same reason.

2. The Malleable (((Methodists))) : These are liberal Christians. They aren't very numerous in the real world, but on a site that is as predominantly liberal as reddit, they are the largest group, by far. (Technically, they aren't all methodists, there are other denominations that are fairly liberal, like the Universalists, and people that don't go to church). These guys make a big show about being better than your average Christians because they have New Good Opinions™ rather than Old Bad Opinions™. Since the itself Bible is fairly problematic, a lot of them don't believe the Bible is accurate.

3. The Conservative Christians : These are the sorts of people that you'd meet if you went into most churches in America. However, reddit isn't kind to these people, being both "conservative" and "christian". Therefore, they don't generally use reddit, so they have a small population on /r/Christianity.

Because reddit is democratic, the "normal" Conservatives are pushed into a corner, while the rest circlejerk about how bad they are.

There's also something to be said about the mod team. /r/Christianity has a mod bio for their jannies, and my "biased" count shows there being 4 atheists, 7 methodist/liberal, and 9 "normal" jannies. So, the libs outnumber the cons by 2. As you would expect, the liberal Christians do be liberal:

The Plan

Given the fact that they were so liberal, but it was still technically a Christian subreddit, I saw the opportunity to begin causing a little bit of mischief. Now, obviously the Bible is problematic in and of itself, with verses that condemn homosexuality and sexual immorality but that is so passé. That's ragebait and rightoid. Instead, I would post wholesome bible verses that have a somewhat prolife bent, and wait for people to get mad at the literal bible on /r/Christianity. I did this for six days.

Day 1: The Crusade Begins

My first post was 🤗"For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother's womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made" Psalm 139:13-14 👶. This one got 37 comments, and a respectable 69% upmarsey ratio. Despite the fact that this was posted to rile up leftoids, a decent chunk of the commenters were actually positive. Of the four top level comments, only one was challenging me. (Don't worry, things will heat up soon)

I did get a couple of bites, however. My first customer was a "gay christian"

our debate didn't last, however, it did spawn a WORDSWORDSWORDS debate between a conservative and him, so I count that as a win. My next customer was cumberlandbanjo, saying this "isn't the debate of the day"

Day three was my first big hit. The vast majority of comments were seething. More importantly, our two biggest lolcows make their first appearances - McClanky and TeHeBasil.

First, TeHeBasil. TeHeBasil is an atheist, but more importantly he can never leave a conversation without getting the last word, which I stan hardcore. Our first conversation just kept going...

You aren't bothering to capitalize or use punctuation correctly, but because you're too lazy to put in the effort. Our story begins in 2016 when guncel poweruser Topgunebay gives Kilo Guns, an Arizona gun shop, two incredibly rare Russian parts kits, one for Kilo Guns to assemble as a pistol and the other for Kilo to keep as payment for finishing the first kit. To Topgunebay's surprise, instead of fulfilling his obligation, Kilo Guns takes the kit he was supposed to assemble into semi-automatic pistol and turns it into a machine gun instead. That's a problem, because as a private citizen without a dealer/manufacturer license, there's no way that Topgunebay can ever take possession of the gun back in its current form. According to the ATF, once a machine gun, always a machine gun, so it can only ever be in the possession of law enforcement, other licensed dealers/manufacturers, or it can be destroyed. Over the course of two years, Topgunebay hounds Kilo Guns to get his shit back to no avail, while Kilo whores off his stolen Vityaz on Instagram.

Who is Mike Bivins?

Mike Bivins is a freelance reporter in Portland. He's best known for reporting on the recreational LARP slapfighting done between left-wing and right-wing extremists in the late 2010s. He was always in the thick of things, reporting on Twitter in real time from inside the crowds. His writing was featured in the local Willamette Week as well as al-Jazeera. While he certainly was far more sympathetic to antifa than any normal person would be, he also seemed fairly reasonable from what I saw. He was praised among other things for his investigation into the alt-right murderer Jeremy Christian. In 2019, everyone who wanted to know what was going down in Portland relied in part on him.

Who is Attacking Synagogues and Mosques?

At the end of April 2022, the Portland Police were hard-pressed to deal with skyrocketing shootings, carjackings, and auto theft but they found the time to ask the media's help in finding a suspect in a series of crimes that's still disturbing even in these highly disturbed times. Someone had vandalized and sprayed graffiti on two synagogues and tried to burn down a mosque with people inside. Photos of the suspect were distributed.

About half the population of Portland looks like that, so it looked like it would be a tough case to crack, at least until May 6. That's when a man went to the local FOX affiliate and announced (I'm paraphrasing here) "Hey, I'm the one who did those hate crimes. It's me, Mike Bivins. Yeah, that Mike Bivins. Why did I do it? Oh, because I totes hate Jews. I'm gonna go attack another synagogue now, see you in a bit." Wtf happened?

We'll get back to Bivins later, but this story is as much about a sick city as a sick man, so let's take at how Portland changed during this important time in his life.

The End of Recreational Slapfighting

Around 2019, the environment started to change. The government came under increasing pressure from citizens and business interests who were tired of Portland being laughed at. The ritualized fights were getting out of control as some participants forgot that they were LARPing and started taking it seriously. Leaders of the right-wing team were selectively targeted for prosecution and were too stupid to stop violating their probation. What once was a fun summer recreational activity for anti-social kids and the young at heart was becoming much darker and more dangerous.

The era ended on May Day when Joey Gibson's Patriot Prayer group followed an antifa group to their commie-themed bar Cider Riot and an actual fight broke out with some minor injuries. Enough right-wingers were arrested for serious crimes to put their team on the sidelines for good. Meanwhile the Oregon Liquor Control Commission began investigating why a bar had armed bouncers running around clubbing people in the street. In October, activist Sean Kealiher was run over and killed during a gunfight outside of Cider Riot, apparently in an internal dispute between antifa factions. The bar was sold shortly afterward. Some violence between political extremists persists to this day, notably the murders of Patriot Prayer chud Aaron Danielson by antifa in August 2020 and a couple of antifa by that one nazifur this February, but the LARPwars social/recreational scene just doesn't exist anymore.

A Reckoning

Outside factors also contributed to the death of Portland's favorite sport. Soon after the May Day brawl, George Floyd was killed and America's "racial reckoning" began. As one of the whitest major cities in the country, Portland naturally was among the hardest hit by riots. Antifa had a glorious time at first. With the protection of the new district attorney Mike Schmidt they didn't need to fear prosecution, so they could fling bottles and bags of human feces at the cops to their hearts' content. The LARPwars were back on with the cops as the opposing side.

The problem was, the police are adults and most of them don't enjoy riots the way anarchkiddies do. So they chose to stop playing. As cops retired or moved on to better jobs in the suburbs, the police force shrank. Meanwhile the Gun Violence Reduction Team was disbanded and gang shootings immediately skyrocketed. Homeless tweakers continued to pour into the city and spilled out from their usual haunts to spread through residential neighborhoods. By the beginning of 2022, it was not uncommon for entire nights to go by where the entire Portland police was responding to shootings and couldn't take any lower priority calls. Antifa sympathizers may still exist, but now that they have achieved the anarchy they wanted, they just blend into the sea of human scum. Nobody much cares anymore if the guy on the street breaking windows and threatening to kill you has read theory or is just a schizo.

Mike Bivins' Plot Twist

As late as July 2018 Bivins was still much beloved by even the wackiest fringe lefties of r/Portland, but by 2019 his life was changing. His last 5 articles for Willamette Week are all about weed, with the last one published in May 2019. Despite the growing riots in Portland and national media attention on them, which should be an enormous boon to his career, he falls out of the limelight. He is mentioned in an ACLU lawsuit claiming that he was sprayed with pepper spray unprovoked by the Federal Protective Service during a July 20, 2020 riot at the federal courthouse, so he must have still been active and sympathetic to antifa at that time.

I haven't trawled through much of his twitter account yet, but several redditors point to around this time and the pandemic when he started making more and more bizarre and disturbing tweets. Some thought at first that he was doing some kind of elaborate joke or trying to infiltrate the far-right, but eventually it became clear that he'd gone nuts and really believed what he was saying. Everyone unfollowed him but he just kept tweeting to nobody. By last month he had some truly nuclear takes:

• "all of the avenues leading to the money lending trade are crowded with [alien] jews", "the partnership of jew lawyer and jew moneylender is one of the most fruitful fields from which the harvest of legitimate anti-semitism is gathered and garnered."

• "the 1906 earthquake destroyed immigration records at san francisco city hall. chinese illegals seized upon this to plead their case on court, and on nothing more than swearing they were born in the usa, taken to china and returned, an untold number of chinese were made citizens"

• "stop masturbating. if I can not do that for six months, you can too. I guarantee you that women know if you've jerked off recently, and that is hurting your chances significantly. a woman doesn't want to have to compete against women from the internet and your hand"

• "(buys donuts from local shop, discovers owner is a Biden-loving slimeball) Safeway and Fred Meyer have better basic donuts anyway."

• "Korean women really know how to dress." -- Okay, you can't really argue with that.

• "I was watching a news segment on mad cow disease and was surprised when they did not flash an image of Kamala Harris on the screen."

• "A Latinx guy was pushing a cart around my neighborhood screaming "hot tomales!!!!" I then thought to myself, "Portland is turning into Mexico.""

At arraignment he was making weird schizo faces. Looks like whatever the frick happened to him, his brain is fried now. What went wrong? Schizophrenia? Did he get too addicted to attention on social media? Was he smoking more than just weed?

Why? First off, the only thing kids do is social transition. It's hair styles and clothes and nothing else until puberty. The only thing they prescribe then are puberty blockers at the right age, and then slowly start them on their gendered hormones later. This is to prevent irreversible changes from puberty while the kid finishes mentally maturing to be certain this is the right course. The only downside to puberty blockers is you end up slightly taller than you would if you'd just cone through normal puberty or transition treatment. It's fully reversible and used to get kids older and give therapists, doctors, and the kid themselves time to mature and be certain. When they stop taking puberty blockers and began HRT is sometime late in the teenage years, in consultation with the teen and their parents. They're not 12. They're 16 or 17. Nobody does any surgeries at all until after the age of 18. Literally the earliest you can do any cosmetic work. Generally later, as it's problematic to do many types of surgeries like that while the body is still growing. So what's to talk about? The standard us protocol is designed to prevent irreversible changes until a child late into their teenage years, where they have bodily autonomy. They start hormonal transition at, the earliest, the age teens start fricking and getting pregnant, an age where they can be legally emancipated, hold jobs, get married...

Fun fact. That "500th ranked swimmer" stuff about Lia? It's because she kept competing in the male bracket during her first year of hrt. Her times plummetted over that year. A casual glance at her best times before transition and now show she's roughly in the same bracket. In the 500m freestyle her best time prior to hrt was about 12 seconds behind the men's record. Now?
