Escape From Tarkov is an extraction shooter developed by Russian studio BattleState Games (BSG). It's somehow been in "beta" for 8 years. Players enter a game, find loot or kill players/AI and take their loot, then if they can exit the map they keep the loot.
The game has a weird monetisation model. The developers promised no microtransactions, no pay 2 win, the usual stuff that makes gaymers smile. Instead the base edition is $50, going all the way up to the Edge of Darkness edition at something like $150. What do you get for that? Basically extra space to store items between games and a season pass for all future DLC.
A few months ago BSG stopped selling Edge of Darkness and suggested they'd offer the features to other players as microtransactions instead. G*mers were less than pleased, but it all blew over in a few weeks.
Arena
Meanwhile, BSG released a seperate standalone game called Arena, which is basically a Team Deathmatch mode for Tarkov aimed at being an esport. Like most "esports ready" slop it flopped, probably because Tarkov doesn't do balance. There are good guns and shit guns, it's ultra realistic. Guy with the better gun and better bullets always wins.
So, 8 years after initial release BSG dump their money into a new, failed game. It's given out for free to Edge of Darkness owners as a "DLC" but still fails. People suspect that this might mean that BSG is running out of money.
PvE
Perhaps the biggest thing the players want is a non-PVP mode. A big part of this is because the game is hard and most players suck, but to be fair Tarkov also has a massive cheater problem.
I mean massive btw, cheaters can see every item in each game. If you enter a raid carrying good gear, the 3-5 cheaters in each map will immediately charge you down for it without fail. BSG supposedly bans these players but does little to stop it, probably because most cheaters sell rare items for real world cash and use the profits to buy a new copy every week. That said, it's been worse in the past. There were times when cheaters could just teleport all the loot in the game straight to them. Fun.
So naturally, players really want to get away from the cheating and play offline. BSG insists it's not possible, although somehow modders were able to reverse-engineer things and create their own Single Player Tarkov (SPT) mod. Someone is lying there, I can't tell who.
Unheard Edition
This week BSG announced a new edition of Escape from Tarkov - Unheard Edition. In this you get all the Edge of Darkness features plus a special knife, woo.
Just kidding, alongside the knife you also get a character with bigger pockets to carry more stuff in game, extra gear and a bunch of other utilities. Naturally gaymers are mad about these more blatant Pay 2 Win features. It's not too bad though, right?
To sweeten the deal these paypigs also get access to a new coop pve mode. Yay! The devs insist that this isn't DLC, but a unique game mode. Edge of Darkness players don't get it.
Oh, and they get a special item which makes the AI not shoot at them.
The best part? The new edition costs
$250

I did a bit of research, but it's hard to really find anything unless you specifically go in trying to find it. If this site wants to convince me, or anyone else, then it needs to do its own analysis. There is no wool over my eyes; if someone presented me with an actual scientific study of what's going on, and it proved your conclusion, I'd be a lot more convinced than I could ever be by surfing rivals.com and checking out random recruits.

I come today with an assortment of responses I've received regarding my epic pulitzer worthy journ*listic expose on FrozenChosen as well as the total vindication Mello received from Frozen's vexatious litigation.
The Janny Cabal would have you believe that I am an agent of chaos sowing discontent amongst the regular, salt of the earth rdrama users. This is, of course, a false narrative crafted to ward off the uncomfortable truths that I've uncovered. Let's take a look at some of the responses I've received so far.
@Joan_Wayne_Gacy sets out to disprove the fact that a Janny conspiracy is afoot by attempting to sweep it up. Joan took it upon themselves, probably coached by the other jannies, to post proof that my narrative was unreliable and that Mello is in fact a danger to the community. Ultimately, this is what it came down to:

Speaking of Frozen, where is she? The charitable explanation that the henchpeople have given out is that she doesn't want to deal with this, that it's beneath her somehow. However, we know she loves attention. So much, in fact, that she sends her personal information to near strangers and sexts them for it. The spotlight is on her now, where is she?
Is it not more likely that she can no longer conjure up lies to sweep her crimes under the rug, and has gone on the run?
At this point, I'll call out one more enemy of the truth, and of god himself. He's different in that he is far too stupid and unstable to be a part of the cabal - he is simply a useful idiot and a simp. Nevertheless, his actions must be dragged from the darkness and brought to the light.

The reason being mensur - a variant of dueling without clear winners, where the objective was not to display skill and defeat your opponent, but to demonstrate courage and fortitude, and to be capable of receiving voluntary disfiguring wounds, as well as to be able to receive it.
Oh by the way here is 1 minute video demonstrating the kraut young men in a mensur dual. No, this is not a satire, mensur duals which were taken with deadly seriousness in krautland and eastern europe genuinely did look this r-slurred.

The first thing to handle: Am I biased? No - I'm a European (

So the next thing to handle - the state of the race. Which Dementia Daddy is winning? It started of with Trump fricking destroying Slumbering Joseph, who has been facing declining approval ratings ever since the fall of Kabul (
America hates to see an anti-war president). This is despite the fact that America does not like Trump. This is simply a fact, Americans have never liked Trump. He didn't win the popular vote against Hillary Clinton, herself massively unpopular, or Joe Biden.
Let's compare starting approvals. Gallup gives W. Bush 
57% approval at the start of his term, which skyrockets to 91% by 9/11 and ends at 28% when he leaves office. Obama 
starts with 68%, getting a lowest approval rating of 42%. Even Sleepy Joe 
started with 55%. Donald Trump 
? He started with 45% approval. That would peak at 49%, and would average at 41%. Please, I implore you to forget that you're a rightoid and accept a basic fact - Trump is not personally liked by Americans. They think he's a loudmouth butthole who's attitude is unfit for office, and during his term 59% of the public didn't like him. So, a Sleepy Joe sweep, right?
Biden started popular enough. He was basically an Obama third term, and Obama was massively popular. He was very old, the pic above is a newspaper reporting Nixon being re-elected while Biden unseats an incumbent, which was a concern, but people generally liked him.
That would change fairly swiftly. Inflation from the Covid spending 
, under Trump lmao, caught up with America and inflation became rampant. Joe Biden had been elected on a promise of being a boring cracker who could let people forget about politics for a while, an elder statesman who would handle everything. He was already being blamed for the economy, but then there was the pull-out. Despite it being awesome, America finally stops wasting money on that shithole, Americans were horrified by the images it produced. His approval ratings sank like a rock and disapproval ratings soared. 
The "Joe Biden is too old to lead" stuff went from a Republican talking point to basically accepted fact. The public was promised a boring statesman they could forget about it, and they're seeing global chaos and inflation - which has gotten back to decent rates, but since the only way prices will go down is through a recession, no one thinks it has. I mean yeah you have dipshit shooters like Will Stancil, but that's about it. So, Drumpf sweep right?
Yes and no. Despite Biden's massive unpopularity, the Red Wave promised for 2022 was barely a red drizzle - the Trump Republicans were so massively unpopular, the Democrats managed to narrowly expand a Senate majority, unseated 3 incumbent governors and Republicans only got 9 seats from the 435 seats up for election in 2022. The public hated Joe Biden, but the Democrats weren't unpopular. However, that doesn't change the fact that Joe Biden is unpopular.
Turns out deplatforming works, hooray! With Trump, he became less of a man and more of an idea. Yeah, Trump was an butthole - but prices were low and the world was at peace. (Incidentally, ask anyone who thinks this how exactly Trump will do this again and watch them not answer you.) America has always loved it's Dirty Harrys and Dr. Houses - take no shit buttholes who get results. Trump, away from the spotlight and with Biden viewed with contempt, was poised to crush Biden. That was until;
Some rightoids have tried to spin this, arguing the public doesn't care that Trump paid hush money to his mistress. They're on the right line of thinking, but they're overestimating the public's knowledge. They don't know what Trump did, and they don't care. Trump went from butthole they don't like to Convicted Criminal(tm) - a massive step up. They have faith in the institutions, they think whatever the verdict is, it's fair, and while they could hold their nose to vote for the butthole that made prices low, they can't do it for a Convicted Criminal(tm).
Biden's popularity hasn't change. They still think he's a senile idiot that shouldn't be in office - but he's not a Convicted Criminal(tm). For contrast, NeoCon-Nikki Haley has pulled anything from 4% to 13% over Joe Biden. While the highest results were obvious bullshit, the pattern is there. If Biden didn't have to run against Trump, he would get his butt paddled.
So, two massively unpopular old men are running against each other. One is a criminal nobody has ever liked, the other is a senile r-slur. Who wins?
Frick knows mate. Trump leads in some key swing states, like Arizona and Michigan, but his sheer unpopularity following the conviction has led to these being narrow leads. Worse still, the Biden Campaign has about $100 million more then the Trump Campaign, so some targeted ads could ruin Trump. If I had to goomble, and I do 
, I would put money on Biden winning. The warchest advantage will be the difference maker, but I wouldn't be surprised if Trump won.
Personally, I'm rooting for Biden winning while losing the popular vote

Introduction
Taverns are big business in South Africa. Also known as shebeens, they are places where people congregate in informal business settings to drink, smoke, listen to music, and meet ladies of the evening. Originally emerging during the apartheid era, these informal establishments provided a space for Black South Africans to socialize, often in defiance of oppressive laws that restricted their movement and gatherings.
Today, taverns are integral to township life, offering a place for relaxation, music, dance, and community engagement. They serve traditional South African beverages such as umqombothi (a type of traditional beer) and a variety of commercially produced alcoholic drinks. These venues often feature local music genres like kwaito and house, contributing significantly to the country's vibrant music scene.
It is not uncommon for taverns to technically be illegal and not have the proper alcohol permits in order. It's also not unheard of for taverns to serve underage patrons, especially females.
Enyobeni Tavern
Today, we'll be zoning in on a very specific tavern known as Enyobeni Tavern. It's located in Scenery Park, East London, Eastern Cape and it is two storeys high. It is in a residential area, which has caused many of the inhabitants to complain that the tavern is a nuisance that attracts noise, crime, and doesn't close at the appropriate hours. According to inhabitants, patrons of the shebeen come out and litter and urinate in lawns which one can imagine is a nuisance to deal with. They have reported the tavern to police multiple times but to no avail.
While we're criticizing the shebeen, it is worthwhile to bring up its construction. The original plan for the building was for it to be a single storey building. However, a second storey was added which the owners did not have permission to do. One of the problems with the second floor is that the patrons have a harder time exiting in the case of an emergency. This will become important later.
Kuzofiwa!
In June 2022, students were preparing for a pens-down party. This is an event traditionally held at the end of the exam period to celebrate. Youngsters from Scenery Park chose Enyobeni Tavern as their location of choice. After all, the place was known for serving minors. Enyobeni Tavern was more than happy to host the event. A Facebook post was made ending with the term "Kuzofiwa!" In slang, it means a great time will be had. However, the literal translation in isiZulu means "There will be death". Ominous.
26 June 2022
The event took place on the 26th of June 2022. The venue was packed to the rafters, alcohol was being served freely, and there was even food available. Then, disaster struck. The place was overpacked and there was patrons trying to force their way in. Inside, it was excessively packed and the security guard, had closed the door. Witnesses reported that the tavern was filled beyond capacity, with estimates of up to 400 people crammed into a space meant for far fewer. Children started saying they cannot breathe and they are dying, and some reported that someone sprayed something in the air, perhaps pepper spray.
This is how packed the tavern was:
Initially, it seems like what happened was a crowd crush causing the death of 21 children. However, things aren't so simple. It could not have been a crowd crush event because not everyone died at the event. Some fell ill after leaving the event and some who fainted on the way home. Thus, suspicions turned to something the children consumed. Samples from the bodies of the victims were taken to toxicology laboratories in Cape Town for analysis. A provincial safety officer said that since there were "no visible wounds", the cause of death was likely not a stampede.
It was found that the deceased had methanol in their bodies. This led to the suspicion that the alcohol may have been tampered with. However, a toxicology report stated that the methanol levels were not lethal. Alcohol poisoning was also ruled out. Next, heads turned to the supposed fumes in the building. As many of you know, South Africa suffers from load shedding. Hence, many businesses have generators to keep the power on when the electricity goes out. Enyobeni tavern was no different, and a generator was found inside. However, it was not adequately ventilated. So the deaths must be caused by carbon monoxide poisoning! Wrong! Although the bodies showed signs of chemical asphyxia, carbon monoxide poisoning was ruled out.
So what caused the death of 21 children? We still have no answers. Post-mortem reports state the cause of death as suffocation but we have no idea whether this is physical or chemical suffocation. Parents reject this report because, as previously stated, some children only fell ill later which is not consistent with suffocation.
Enyobeni Tavern Owners and Victims
On the night of the disaster, the owner, Siyakhangela Ngevu, received a call stating there was a crisis. He rushed to the tavern but it was too late - the children were dead. A legal investigation was launched and it was found that the tavern was built illegally. The city has not received any land-use application, nor has it granted any departure for operating a tavern at the location. On 23 February 2024, the club's owners were ordered to pay a R5000 fine or serve 100 days imprisonment.
The owner suspects that he has been sabotaged and that the children were poisoned. He posits that he has enemies who wanted his successful business shut down.

His show was notable for how groundbreaking it was at the time and how it tried to teach children about what was happening in the world around them.

, Burger King wisely produced an advertisement aimed at children using a parody character called "Mr. Rodney", who taught children that McDonalds was bad by teaching them a new word - "McFrying". Burger King doesn't fry their beef patties, nooooo sir, we FLAME BROIL our slop

The only issue was they never got permission to use his likeness... and of course that Mr. Rodgers actually cared about children.
What did Mr. Rogers do?
He called the Senior VP of marketing for Burger King, Mr. Don Dempsey, and chewed his butt OUT.
According to the apocrypha of Fred Rogers lore, Fred angrily talked for 5 minutes with the VP. A commonly associated quote from this call is "To have someone who looks like me doing a commercial is very confusing for children". - repeated multiple times in a soft yell. According to an interview with his wife following his death in 2003, he was very much furious at the impersonation. The rumors of his rage at corporate greed actually grew so great it inspired the Black Dynamite video above.
Mr. Dempsey pulled the commercial immediately. That one single commercial cost $150,000 at the time, which would be half a million in costs today. It was shown across the nation perhaps a couple dozen times before the plug was pulled.
Coincidentally, a month later, Mr. Rogers and a longtime director for "Mister Rogers Neighborhood" Mr. Paul Lally met the very same actor who played Mr. Rodney in the commercial. This is what Mr. Lally described of it:
More background... fast forward a month later: we're in NYC to film the Dance Theater of Harlem. Fred and the film crew are on foot, waiting to cross a busy intersection of Fifth Avenue and 152nd Street.
The light turns, we take off. Halfway across, a man shouts, "Hey, Mister Rogers!" We're used to that happening all the time. But what happens next is that the guy says, "I was the actor on that Burger King spot."
Fred comes to a complete stop and smiles to beat the band. "You did a marvelous job. I'm proud of you."
The actor grins, "Thanks, Mister Rogers." Then frowns. "Look I'm sorry it made fun of you."
Fred says, "I am too, but more importantly, I'm sorry you won't be getting any residuals."

The Maya Train is just what you would expect from Mexico's president: a massive building project that's been railroaded 
through any questions of feasibility or environmental impact by being declared a matter of "national security". Costs balloon, service sucks, and customers never show up.
The idea was to build a 1500km rail network around the Yucatan peninsula to serve tourists. It would connect coastal resorts like Cancun to inland Mayan archaeological sites like Chichen Itza. Locals might even benefit if they're lucky At $8 billion, why not?
Planning
The disaster began long before the first rail was laid. Mexican President resident Andrรฉs Manuel Lรณpez Obrador (AMLO) loves big infrastructure products that get lots of media attention and give him a chance to take personal credit, much like Turkey's President Erdogan. His signature campaign promise was to scrap the half completed new airport for Mexico City and build on another site. The Maya Train was to be an even grander project and work had to be done fast to complete it during AMLO's 2018-2024 term.
The genius who thinks the cartels aren't a problem because Mexicans don't use cocaine.
Ordinarily it would take years of careful research and planning just to decide on the route, but much of the Maya Train was to use existing rail lines. More importantly, nobody gave a shit about the environmental and safety reviews that would be done in other countries. AMLO just declared his tourist train a "national security" project so it doesn't have to follow any rules. The Yucatan is geologically complex with cenotes, flooded limestone caves, underlying much of the route. Hopefully they won't collapse or be polluted. Habitat for rare wildlife like jaguars will be destroyed and divided. Remember how the train is going to archaeological sites? Let's just hope it doesn't obliterate too many undiscovered ruins along the way.
In a normal project, these concerns would never have even come up. First it would need to be demonstrated that the railroad could actually make money. But the Maya Train wasn't a business venture, it was simply a means of aggrandizement for AMLO and an opportunity for his cronies to cash in. There was a vague concept that tourists would take it from coastal resorts to inland destinations instead of using existing bus lines, but how many?
At least the stewardesses wear miniskirts.
There were also vague ideas about the Maya Train serving local passengers and freight, but these were at odds with the primary goal of serving tourists. Ordinary people don't want to take a detour to the outskirts of the cities where the airports, hotels, and Maya Train stations are. They can't afford it anyway, so they are sold tickets for a fraction of the price of the tourists'. The amount of freight moving around the Yucatan that is easy to ship by rail (coal, ore, grain) is unlikely to be worth setting up trains for and slow freight trains would have to work around the schedule of fast passenger trains.
Execution
Construction began in 2020 with , the first stretch built by Mota-Engil, a Portugese company that has done similar work in honest and transparent parts of the world like Angola. Costs quickly ballooned from $7.5 billion to $30 billion. Proceeding at breakneck speed the first part of the line became partially operational in December 2023. At least enough for AMLO to take a triumphant photo op.
It looks about as high tech as a 30 year old commuter train.
It's virtually worthless for other purposes as there aren't train stations to stop at yet, vital infrastructure isn't finished, the train makes 55mph on average, departures are delayed for hours, and even the plumbing onboard the train is breaking down. Within a few weeks it was temporarily shut down, and just a few days ago tourists were butthurt at missing their trains and being stuck.
Normally you might expect customers and the government to be outraged at whatever company is operating the rail line. But the Maya Train isn't operated by a company. It's operated by Mexico's notoriously corrupt and inefficient army. Why are they involved in the tourism industry? That's just how AMLO rolls. Like many left-wing populists in Latin America he loves giving control over random parts of the economy and administration of the country to the military for no good reason.
Train to nowhere. Imagine how boring the scenery is.
AMLO's term is running out. Will Mexicans make a choice any less stupid in the next election? Probably not, if they're like everyone else on Earth these days.

The last few weeks have been pretty bad for Ukraine unfortunately They finally seem to run out of steam, both in Kursk and their own territories, Trump seems more and more likely to win the election, and Russia is receiving new munition and troops from other countries while they are still fighting alone and need to deal with lots of restrictions from it's allies. NATO starts to show signs of getting bored with the conflict and America clearly wants to focus more on the Middle East than Russia right now. Even the pro-Ukraine twitter accounts are posting less things, and lots of them are either fluff or complaining about Ukraine's allies. And with Vuhledar's fall Ukraine is slowly losing Donetsk too. Tbf Russia isn't doing well either and it's obvious that the war and the sanctions are biting hard and that they too can't keep this up any longer. The war is coming to an end and Ukraine will lose Donbas and Donetsk but will keep the rest of it's country. A resolution that leaves no one happy - both countries destroyed their economy and decimated their population only for both lose the war. NATO is the only winner in this conflict
Even with being in NATO we 
still depend a lot on Ukraine for protection against Russia since they are a big country and a really good land shield for keeping Russia at a reasonable distance. So since the first signs of Ukraine (and Kamala) faltering have appeared I took a break from slavshit to deal with the reality. Thanks to Israel for offering a lot of very entertaining distractions while I was busy coping and seething

None of the NATO countries are happy about Russia's invasion of Ukraine. That's why they're sending hundreds of billions of dollars in aid to prop up the Ukrainian war effort and sanctioning Russia to hinder the Russian war effort.
None of the NATO countries are obligated to defend Ukraine though and that's why none of them will take any decisive action that would directly involve them in the war.
Even something like sending ballistic missiles and giving Ukraine the green light to use them to strike military infrastructure inside of Russia hasn't happened, let alone something like putting actual boots on the ground. If Russia had invaded Estonia instead, the US Navy would have sank Russia's Black Sea fleet by now.
I think what he was trying to elude to was that ukraine never decided in a vacuum to not join nato. There have been calls for moving towards nato and the eu since ukraines inception, but russia has been running kgb and shadow warfare on ukraine for decades trying to control them. All this election interference we've been seeing in the west is relatively new by comparison, but russia has been trying to puppeteer ukraine since it's inception, to the point where ukraine has had to have multiple "revolutions" to throw off the shackles their politicians would repeatedly attempt to put on them in driving them towards russia and away from nato and the eu against their will. Yes, ukraine is not in nato, but if russia slaughters it's way through ukraine, multiple more nato member states are now at direct risk and collectively will require much higher defense spending anyway just to fortify a new border with russia where one did not exist previously, let alone the implications on everything else including the black sea, ukraines resources being martialed and exploited solely for a russian war economy, ukraine currently having the strongest army in Europe that's remnants would be turned around to the west after a russian victory. Russia has a fricked perspective, not grounded in reality, to the point where the decision maker(s) really thought the Ukrainians were going to welcome the russian army as liberators. Then there're the implications on allowing russias brutal methods of rewriting ethnic and national identities of the conquered, sporadic use of gas warfare and nuclear blackmail, using food as a weapon for imperial growth, all allowed to succeed. 300b is not a lot if you look at collective defense spending either. If we treat it as such and use it as a reason to stop support, then we either signal that conquest will be ultimately met with eventual boredom and submission, or all that was needed for a quick victory was more intrusive and insidious shadow warfare predating an even larger and more prepared invasion to achieve a quick fate accompli.
So again, yes, ukraine is not a nato member, but they are as close to being one and an eu member as is possible without full acceptance at this point, and the fall out from the end of the war will directly effect nato security one way or another, potentially aiding to kill the eu as well. The money spent on gwot makes our aid to Ukraine look like a half measure only meant to inconvenience a resurgent and growing russian threat.

No, the whole idea is that if we show russia strength now then we will not have to go to (much bigger) fight later. And we are still in a position where we can do that without sacrificing a single soldier, by mostly giving out stockpiles of obsolete weapons, without restrictions.
ATACMS (without stupid limits), Tomahawks, all the F-16s we have (still cheaper than scraping them as part of F-35 replacement programs). Stupid quantities of legacy Patriots for defense. Ukraine will do the job for us and is willing to sacrifice its soldiers.

NATO clearly doesn't want a quick and decisive Ukraine victory and prefers to slowly bleed Russia dry. Potentially it would even try to keep the conflict open far longer than either countries can truly fight, locking them together in a spiralling economic collapse. This will keep Russia busy and less likely to chimp out at an important state

While it wasn't a direct attack, multiple drones and missiles have landed on the territory of Romania and Poland, both NATO member nations. I don't even think NATO said anything in either of those incidents. The only country with any balls surprisingly, was Belarus because they shot a drone down.

We actually shot one drone down too recently. We generally ignore them and let them pass over but this one was about to crash in a town or something so we smacked it out of the sky

Not only has that happened but you have the dozens of times where Russian aircraft have entered the airspace over the Aleutian islands, which last I checked, belong to the US. You have the Russian jets that were messing with the US drone over the Black Sea, in international waters too.
Point is, NATO should be doing more. Instead, they show themselves to be pretty toothless. All bark and no bite whatsoever. There is no point in having NATO if it doesn't do anything when it is necessary.

Exactly. The shortage of munitions in Ukraine should tell you everything that you need to know about the importance of European weapons production. The USA does not make enough missiles and ammunition for even a regional war, much less a global one.

But they also didn't exactly send everything they had, and there are compatibility issues between US stockpiles and the (former) Soviet equipment used in Ukraine.
That comes back to your point about European manufacturing, tho - Poland and other former Soviet states are likely already stockpiling and equipped to produce compatible munitions, and I think have been supplying them to Ukraine.

Before you rush on even considering making a decision NATO it's probably worth having a few discussions first and then you can think about maybe holding a vote. Make sure any 'group' decision can be overruled by a country with the power to veto though as it won't be fair otherwise.

As far back as November last year, tragedy struck in Bumfrick, Wisconsin when an SUV crashed through an annual Christmas parade, killing six people. Unfortunately due to America being the horrifically racist country it is, instead of appropriately punishing the killer SUV responsible for the attack as reported by multiple mainsteam media outlets, they unfairly apprehended and arrested innocent PoC Darrell Brooks who just happened to be near the scene at the time - falsely accusing him of multiple counts of homicide. It wasn't until the trial got underway though in October of this year though that things really started to kick off.
Boldly deciding to represent himself in court, the trial consisted of several weeks of complete covcit style autism - here are just some of the many threads covering the trial at the time.

Despite Darrell's best attempts however, this ultimately didn't affect the final outcome of the trial. More on that later though 
After a long and entertaining trial watched live by many dramatards, Darrell Brooks was finally found guilty on all 76 counts of being black and sentenced to life in prison. This trial will have a lasting legacy for sure, and the fact that Darrell was unfairly imprisoned whilst Kylie Rittenhouse walked free will stand as a testament to just how much white supremacy has poisoned our proud and noble country.

2022 was a fantastic year for the art of baiting (just compare the entire list of nominees with those of 2021's), but one particular sneaky scheme very clearly shone above the rest in the collective hearts of all you mischief makers.
A huge group effort from many prominent dramatards, /r/Justice4Darrell was a subreddit helping to combat the vicious disinformation circulating about the Darrell Brooks trial - enraging many racist Redditors and SRDines in the process. Even if that's all the subreddit had managed to achieve, it would've been considered a victory and one of rdrama's more successful bait subs... but one faithful post brought this gay op to levels that were previously considered a mere pipe dream.

The infamous juror post caught enough outside attention that it ended up being reported on by several media outlets, and eventually made its way into the trial itself - marking the first time that this shitty gossip forum had managed to impact a national court trial being closely watched by millions all over the country. The original poster eventually panicked and gave up the game (probably the wiser if less dramatic decision, tbh), but that didn't stop Darrell himself from reading the bait post in court and unsuccessfully attempting to use it to sway things in his favor or cause a last-minute mistrial.

Introduction

His return to the USA coincided with the crescendo of the hippie movement, and Thompson had a first-row seat to see it all unfold. He shared some of the ideals of the hippies, as he was anti-establishment, and was a โgourmand of psychedelicsโ, but he did not always have a high opinion of hippies, especially those of Haight-Ashbury whom he accused of being โlazy, apolitical, unmotivated by money, and totally lacking aggressivenessโ, descriptions which they would have likely not contested. He crossed paths with Ken Kesey and his Merry Pranksters but โhis rancid attitude towards the unmotivated hippies, didn't allow him to fit naturally with the peace-loving pranksters for more than a few long drug-sodden weekend blastsโ. Thompson voices his criticisms of Kesey and his Merry Pranksters in Fear and Loathing, casting derision on their carefree philosophy. After a bad experience, the protagonist thinks of the hippie mantra โtune in, freak out, get beaten. It's all in Kesey's Bibleโ, and concludes that it is all โbad gibberish; not even Kesey can help me nowโ.
Thompson began building his reputation as an eccentric journ*list, and he developed a unique method that involved him using an audio recorder as the basis of the writing and using drugs when witnessing the events that he was reporting. He grew comfortable with what Whitmer terms โconfabulationโ, meaning he would โglean a few facts from his friends, splice it with his inimitable style, and phone in an article, all the while recovering from a terminal hangoverโ.
Thompson the Character
To some degree, it could be argued that the public persona of Hunter S. Thompson is a fictitious creation. Even if one accepts this argument, it should not be forgotten that the same could be argued of any public figure who is conscious that they are being watched and judged. Merely knowing one is being observed adds a performative element to one's actions. Throughout Thompson's antics, there is a sense that he is keenly aware of his public persona, as seen in his 2003 interview with Conan O'Brien which he does while drinking liquor, smoking, and shooting with rifles at his own books.
Thompson's self-awareness should not fool one into thinking there are no genuine aspects to the writer's legend. Although his criminal history before Fear and Loathing has been discussed, it should be noted that even with his newfound fame, he continued to get into trouble with the law, including in 1987 when he fired a shotgun at a golf ball on the Aspen Municipal Golf Course. His disdain for those in power is also displayed through the scathing articles he continued to write about politicians, including Clarence Thomas. This lifelong record of criminality suggests that his oppositional stance toward authority and his devil-may-care attitude are integral parts of Thompson that would have existed regardless of whether he became a bestseller and public figure or not.
The one aspect of Thompson that is certainly not made up is his copious drug use which eventually caught up to him. In his later years, his health deteriorated so badly that his physician told him: โYou are dead. And you have been for two years!โ. He died in 2005, at age 67, from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. It has been speculated that his copious drug use likely contributed to the depression that led to his suicide. The paradoxical legacy he leaves behind, as Whitmer summarises, is that of a โhillbilly high-school dropout with a half-dozen bestselling books to his nameโ.
Conclusion
There is not much more to be said. The man is a legend. I'm not going to cut myself today because I distracted myself with writing, although I can't stop thinking about sliding that razor on my skin. Tune in next time when I discuss Sodom and Gomorrah.

Hello! Welcome to rDrama! What follows is a brief rundown of key features and mechanics of the site to help ease users into their time here. Whether a dry, enormous wall of text is the best method of providing that is debatable, but at the very least it should serve as a handy reference material for some parties. There are no jokes or wit to be found on this page: this is strictly dry documentation.
Dramaconomy
The economy of the platform, built on a pair of proprietary fiat currencies. This economy is the foundation of the platform, and virtually all user actions are taken out of a desire for personal enrichment.
Currency
Dramacoin (dc) - The primary currency, somewhat analogous to karma. One (1) dramacoin is awarded to a user for every vote they get on a post or comment. Upvotes and downvotes both pay 1dc, except during "double xp" events which are exactly what they sound like. Other methods of amassing dramacoin include, but are not limited to, Marsey submissions, the casino, the lottershe, hat commissions, betting threads, user exchanges, treasure chests.
Marseybux (mb) - The premium currency. Marseybux spend exactly the same as dramacoin, with the only exceptions being the Grass Award. Marseybux are given out in tiered monthly stipends to paypigs (among other benefits) of rDrama's Gumroad. Marseybux are also the usual currency for payouts of site contests, events, and coding bounties.
The Shops
rDrama has two shops, which will be discussed in this section.
Award Shop - The Award Shop is divided into three aisles: Graphical, Status Effect, and Profile Upgrade.
Graphical awards make obnoxious graphics appear on posts. Each item includes a description of its effect, but, for example, the Wholesome award will make the Marsey variant of the Reddit Wholesome Seal (Tene) float around the screen and bounce off the walls. Applying more Wholesome awards to that thread will add more wholesome seals. All graphical awards stack (with the exception of Confetti), usually up to 5. Graphical awards also pay the recipient (unless self-awarded) 10% of the award's cost.
Status Effects apply a status to the recipient for a set duration of time, also explained in the item description. The Ban award bans the recipient for 24 hours, the Pizzashill award requires the recipient to make their comments a minimum of 280 characters for 24 hours in honor of our long-time incel longposter@pizzashill, the Marsey award only lets the recipient type in Marsey emojis for 24 hours, and so on. Each House also has 1 House-specific award at the time of this writing, though that number will increase in the future.
And, finally, Profile Upgrades are expensive, high-end items that will permanently improve the recipient's site experience and give them an animated profile badge related to the upgrade. This ranges from admin-tier powers such as permanent Unblockable status, the inability for people to unfollow the recipient, an unmuteable profile anthem, the ability to see users' alts, to view private profiles, and more. All dramacoin spent in the Award Shop is recorded and at certain intervals, profile badges are awarded and each tier grants the user a permanent 2% discount at the Award Shop.Hat Shop - The Hat Shop is an inconveniently large collection of user-submitted, Carp-approved hats that users can buy to wear on their avatar. Static hats are 500dc/mb each, animated ones are 1000dc/mb each. Hats are equipped after being purchased by pressing the "Equip" button, and an unlimited number of hats can be worn. It will cycle through them at random with each pageload. Hat designers receive 10% of the sale price for each sale of one of their designs. Purchasing hats also drives up the hat collection tally on the buyer's profile, and at certain intervals (capping at 250), users are automatically granted hat collector profile badges.
The Casino
Marsey's Palace, rDrama's very own digital casino, has four games at the time of this writing. Total winnings (or losses) are tracked on users' profiles, and daily as well as all-time leaderboards are found on each game's page. There are plans for more in the near-ish future, including Marsey racing, peer-to-peer poker, and craps, as well as an in-casino shop that will allow for unique skins for slot machines, custom decks of cards, and more.
Roulette - Users bet on a variety of outcomes upon which the roulette wheel can stop, with variable payouts based on odds. Unlimited bets can be placed. Results come in every five minutes and are constant across the site.
Blackjack - Get closer to 21 than the dealer without going over. Dealer stands on 17. This is not pure RNG; we use four decks and they are literally shuffled. It is not rigged and it does not learn from you. It is pure math.
Slots - Slot machines don't require an explanation as far as I'm concerned. Odds are fixed and each spin is entirely random based on those odds, with a variety of possible combinations and payouts. A jackpot feature will be added.
Lottershe - The lottery. Buy tickets, make the jackpot increase. One lucky user will be awarded the entire thing every 10 days, along with a profile badge indicating their immense skill.
Miscellaneous Economy
Every comment a user makes has a 1:100 chance of generating a treasure chest or a mimic. Treasure awards the user 1-1000 dramacoin, mimics will steal 1-500.
Every approved Marsey submission pays 250 dramacoin to the artist. Marseys are discussed later in this document.
Administrators will occasionally host betting threads for sporting events, spree shooter racial identities and victim counts, election results, and drunken whims. Bets are a flat 200dc each, and all users who voted for the winning choice receive the total amount bet divided equally among them.
Every profile has a "Send Dramacoin" and "Send Marseybux" button and users frequently solicit goods and services in exchange for currency.
There are, somewhat obviously, other minor ways in which currency is earned and spent, but those are relative edge cases and will be mentioned as necessary throughout this document.
User Experience
Profile/Identity
Users have robust customization options, for both their chosen outward "aesthetic" and for their own personal site experience. This section deals with the first tab of the Settings Page.
Theme - Users can select from a number of starkly different and visually pleasing themes, from the retro Win98, to the retrofuture Tron, to the simple yet elegant Coffee and Dramblr to 4chan and beyond.
Background - Users have the option to set a background to fill the whitespace should they so choose, either one of many preset backgrounds, or, for paypigs, the ability to upload their own. These can be either static or animated.
House - Users have the option of joining one of four rDrama Houses, which will be discussed later in this document.
Profile Picture - The user's avatar or "pfp" - self-explanatory. This can be animated or static.
Banner - Also self-explanatory. The banner at the top of a user's profile and the popout module when their name is clicked. Static or animated.
Username - Users have the ability to change their username at any time and at no cost. The original username is always reserved to them. The next field allows for customizing the color of one's username.
Pronouns - In the interest of maximum inclusivity, rDrama allows for users to set any pronouns they desire in this field. Pronouns cap at 5 characters each, but if one has a specific neopronoun that is longer, administrative exceptions can be made.
Flair - A short message that appears beside your name, maximum of 100 characters. Site emojis and regular emojis are allowed and encouraged. The next flair allows for choosing the color of one's flair.
Profile Anthem - A song that autoplays on a user's profile. This can be done by simply inputting a YouTube URL, or via direct MP3 upload.
Bio - Self-explanatory. Tell the website about yourself, or insult them.
Friends and Enemies - Perhaps even more self-explanatory. Tell the world who you love and hate. Users are notified if they are listed as a friend or an enemy.
Signature - A paypig-only feature, and a throwback to the forums of yesteryear.
Private Mode - Hide your post history from both search engines and other users. Users with the All-Seeing Eye profile upgrade can see through this.
Spider - A friendly spider will crawl across your screen when you are browsing rDrama.
Filters - Users can disable both slurs and profanity should they so choose. rDrama shibboleths will also automatically replace a number of words and terms with the Slur Filter enabled. Both are enabled by default and disabling them is discouraged so as not to take the internet so seriously.
In-Depth Experience
Advanced Settings - Users also have access to a number of customization options for browsing and off-site links via the Advanced Settings Page, such as Reddit and Twitter replacers (i.e. reveddit, unddit, nitter, etc.), the number of threads per page, the ability to disable the flashier graphical effects here for lower-end hardware, and so on. Each option is explained in full on the Advanced Settings Page and will not be repeated here.
Custom CSS - From the CSS Page, users can add custom CSS to both their profile for all users to truly make it their own, and edit the site's CSS itself for their local viewing experience.
Badges
rDrama users have a particular fondness for collecting Profile Badges - small graphics indicating an achievement, contributing art to the site, highly visible bait, being featured in news articles, participation in an event, an admin's lust for them, and other such things. A full list of badges can be found here. New badges are issued relatively often and displayed at all times on the popout profile module, and user profiles themselves.
Leaderboards
The Leaderboards can be accessed via the Trophy icon in the topnav on desktop, or bottomnav on mobile. Users can see where they stack up against their digital peers in a growing number of categories. There is currently no benefit to Leaderboard placement beyond bragging rights, but this is planned to change in the future.
Markdown/Posting
Users have a number of options to visually spruce up their posts as well as adding interesting mechanics to them. These can be found under any comment or thread entry field by clicking "Formatting help". This document will provide an overview of common actions. Users familiar with Reddit markdown will be aware of a number of these already.
Bold/Italics - Surrounding text with
**on each side will make it bold, and*on each side will italicize it. For example:**bold** *italics*would show as bold italics.Linebreaks - Users can add extra linebreaks to post with standard HTML by typing
<BR>. Pressing the Enter/Return key will only result in a single linebreak.Hyperlinks - Links can be added to a thread or comment via HTML, or with markdown like this:
[This will link to Google](https://google.com)will appear as This will link to Google.Media - Pictures and videos can be included in threads and comments as well, in two different ways. The simplest way is to just upload the media directly to the post via the Photo icon underneath the text entry field. Third-party media can be embedded with markdown as follows:

YouTube URLs and Imgur URLs will automatically embed the media without any markdown, however.Patting - Users have the option of giving a reassuring fondling to their peers. Polls - Users can include polls in their threads and comments by surrounding poll options, each on their own line, with either
&&or$$. The ampersand is single-choice, the dollar sign is multiple choice. Poll option formatting would be$$Choice A$$and so on to allow for users to choose "Choice A" along with other choices, or&&Choice A&&to restrict users to only one choice.Headers - Users can include headers or large text of varying sizes by including one or several hashtags/number signs at the beginning of the line, followed by a space. Sizes range from 1-6, with 1 being the largest, 6 being the smallest. So for a very large header, one would put the following text on its own line:

Pings - Users can ping one another in the expected manner, by simply typing
@usernamewhich will notify the user as well as link to their profile.Ping Groups - Ping Groups are groups of users who can be pinged by typing
!pinggroupnameto notify everyone in that Ping Group. Existing Ping Groups can be joined or browsed from the sidebar, or by clicking here. So, for example, to ping every member of theChudsPing Groups, one would simply type!chudswhich will appear as !chuds and notify every member that they have been mentioned. Pinging Ping Groups which one is not a member of costs 5dc per recipient and pays it to them in order to minimize spam.RNG features - rDrama has taken and improved 4chan's greentext and
#fortunecommands, while also adding#rolland#factcheck. Users can get their fortune, roll a four-digit number, or factcheck a post by adding the requisite command anywhere in their thread or comment.
Holes
Holes are rDrama's equivalent of subreddits, and the author of this document has a tremendously low opinion of them.
Cost - Holes cost 50,000dc to create.
Expiration - If a Hole has no new posts in any 7-day period, it is automatically deleted. There are no refunds. The creator is, however, granted the rare Hole Neglecter badge.
Subscribing - In order to subscribe to a Hole, users must navigate to the Hole itself (/h/toomanyxchromosomes, for example) and click "Follow Hole" at the top of the page. This will notify the user when a new thread is posted there. One can then unsubscribe by pressing the Unsubscribe button that it will change to.
Restricted Holes - Some Holes are restricted by default, meaning one must opt into them (above) for their posts to be visible. All Hole owners have the option to restrict their Holes, though some such as /h/chudrama, are both restricted and gated behind a 1488 Truescore (total votes received) requirement.
Aesthetics - Hole moderators and owners can change everything about their Hole, from the CSS for all users, to the Marsey at the top of the page, to the sidebar image, and more. A battery of custom
@Snappy quotes is available on request.
Moderation - As would be expected, Hole owners can appoint moderators, and these moderators can exile people from the Hole. Un-Holed posts can be moved to the Hole by reporting them with
/h/HOLENAME, and posts can be removed from a hole by a moderator reporting the post with/h/.
Holigays & Events
rDrama has events, both recurring and one-off, which change the site in varying ways. These include, but are not limited to, double XP (2x coins per vote received), event-specific banners, forced themes and soundtracks, limited time cosmetic awards, a badge for all existing users commemorating the event, and more. A list of some rDrama Holigays follows.
Homoween - rDrama's first ever Holigay, runs throughout the month of October. Homoween is a big deal. A sitewide playlist plays on every page, the layout is completely redone with a dynamic banner that changes as the big day draws near, there are around a dozen seasonal awards, new badges are everywhere, and as of Homoween '22 there is the beloved ZIPOCalypse game in which Zombies battle the Vaxxmaxxed.
Fistmas - Christmas! Another big one, similar to Homoween in terms of temporary features, although Christmas-themed instead of horror-themed. Runs throughout December.
New Queers - Immediately following Fistmas is the New Queers bash. User-submitted yearly banners, double XP, and discounts on celebratory graphic awards.
Donkey Kong December - Runs every year from April 2nd to May 9th. Browse rDrama with a custom Donkey Kong playlist, special awards, DK-specific art and more.
Black History Month - Users who aren't confirmed Black are required to buy an N-Word Pass from the Item Shop in order to be able to say nigger. N-Word Pass proceeds are paid to confirmed Black users at the end of the month as reparations. POC-themed banners also replace the usual roster.
rDrama's Birthgay Bash - Every year in May, rDrama celebrates its birthday. New, permanent celebratory awards are released, a commemorative badge is issued to all users, and Double XP coupled with shop discounts ensures visual chaos.
The Gaythering of the Juggalos - rDrama proudly stands with los and lettes around the world and is down with the clown until we are six feet in the ground, ninja. Expect Double XP, Dark Carnival-themed usernames, and clown banners.
Future - Future Holigays are planned to be added to the roster as available man hours dictate. These include, but are not limited to: a week celebrating /u/Bardfinn's birthday, Ramadan (Ramranchadan), Thanksgiving (Spanksgiving), May Day (May Gay, an LGBT-themed communist event), and an unnamed Fourth of July event.
Art As A Feature
The full rDrama experience is built on user-submitted art in three primary categories. This section will address that content.
Marseys - Marsey is that adorable orange-and-white cat you have surely noticed all over the place by now. There are over 2,000 variants of Marsey in emoji form usable across the site, and countless hundreds of others in our banners and sidebar images. Artistically inclined users are strongly encouraged to create their own Marseys and submit them via the Marsey Submission Form with a name and tags (in order to be easily found when using the Emoji Picker). Marsey Artists get a profile badge for their first, tenth, and hundredth approved Marsey. Holigay-themed Marseys during their respective events also earn a unique badge for that event that year.
Banners - The long, horizontal image at the top of every page announcing where on the internet the viewer is: rDrama.net. Users are encouraged to create and submit their own banners by uploading them here. Note that banner artists receive a profile badge for their first approved banner, and rDrama routinely hosts events soliciting banners around particular themes in which users can earn a limited time badge and/or Marseybux payouts.
Sidebar - Each page also has a fun image in the sidebar. As with the above two items, sidebar images are user-generated and submit here. A successful sidebar submission earns the Sidebar Artist profile badge.
Chudrama
rDrama, while a self-proclaimed โfun speechโ rather than โfree speechโ platform does seek to allow established members to express whatever legal opinions they desire. Upon reaching 100 truescore, /h/chudrama is accessible and can be added to a user's main feed and notifications via the Unblock button at the top of the page. In Chudrama, any opinion goes. The slur filter is disabled, the Chud Award and admin-imposed Chud status effect both do not apply and users cannot be labeled chuds via content in Chudrama. Viewer discretion is advised.
Houses
As with the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, rDrama users have the chance to join one of four unique Houses. These are, in no particular order: Vampire, Furry, Racist, and Femboy. At the time of this writing, House functionality is fairly limited although there are plans to significantly expand it. Current features and a few upcoming ones are detailed below.
House Icon - Members of each House have a small icon beside their username indicating their allegiance. Founders of each House (i.e. all of the original members at inception) have the same icon but with a crown above it. Changing Houses removes the crown.
House-Specific Awards - Each House currently has access to one (1) award unique to that house which will cause a thematically appropriate status effect to the recipient for a period of time. More House-specific awards are planned, but
ihatecodersihatecodersihatecodersihatecodersihatecodersdevelopment is on hold due to a temporary manpower shortage.House Cup - Borrowing further from the Wizarding World, the rDrama Houses will soon be locked into a fierce competition for seasonal supremacy. Details to be announced as development time permits.
Sorting Ceremony - A Sorting Hat-style quiz is in the works for users upon account creation which will automatically sort them into the most fitting house.
Chat
rDrama has a native chat feature in development and currently in a usable, though user-neglected state. Chat is accessed via the chat icon (topnav on desktop, bottomnav on mobile), or by visiting https://rdrama.net/chat. Occasionally, during big real-world events such as sports championships and high profile court cases, chat will be converted into an Orgy in which the event in question is streamed and as users watch and comment together on events as they play out. Contrasted to regular chat, Orgies typically see triple-digit turnout. New features are in the works for chat as a whole, although at present, this requires a dev proficient in React, which rDrama lacks.
Moderation
While rDrama is by no means a free speech platform, it does strive to eradicate the contemporary internet-wide problem of incompetent and abusive moderators.
Modlog - All moderator actions are logged and publicly visible to all members, accessible at https://rdrama.net/log. Users can sort by moderator, by action, and by action taken by a specific moderator. rDrama prides itself on holding unpaid internet janitors accountable for their actions.
Banned Users - A full list of banned users can also be accessed from that page, including username, date of ban, duration of ban, and the moderator responsible. Unban Awards from the shop lower the duration of both user- and moderator-imposed bans by 24 hours each.
Archives
A record of all historical posts in some of rDrama's subreddits pre-migration can be accessed at https://rdrama.net/archives. Currently, this consists of /r/drama, /r/deuxrama, /r/dosrama, /r/zweirama and /r/dtama along with the full logs of the 2021 NNN Reddit powermod Discord server that rDrama compromised and leaked. Additional subs can be added provided there is sufficient interest.
Source
rDrama is free and open source and a staunch supporter of open source software in general. After being banned from GitHub, the repo was moved to rDrama's own Gitea instance at https://fsdfsd.net/rDrama/rDrama. Users are welcome and encouraged to submit their own changes and to peruse the source at their leisure.
Changelog
It is recommended that users visit /h/changelog and press the bell button at the top to follow it, as substantial updates and changes are logged there for user visibility and as a means of soliciting feedback from the community.
As of 25 April 2023, changelog entries are now recorded in this thread, to which users can subscribe for realtime updates. Less substantial changes are logged here, contrasted to the former /h/changelog Hole in which only fairly large updates were posted.
Mass Casualty Event Events
rDrama leans heavily into coping with the incomprehensibly tragic absurdity of modernity by making sport of it whenever possible. Mass casualty eventsโtypically spree shootings and their inevitable rapid politicizationโare thus the subject of routine administrator-hosted betting threads as to the identity and/or motive of the perpetrator, allowing for users to profit from the tragedy while chronicling and later ridiculing the wild speculation across social media and the American news cycle in the immediate, chaotic aftermath of the event. The default template of options and a brief explanation of the rules can be accessed here, for reference.

Thanks to the Gods of luck, this week has been the ONLY week in which I had to work outside in the field every fricking day, during a High Pressure Front dominating southern africa, and spurring on dust storms from the dry heat all over the country 
My think my brains are literally fricking fried.
Anyways, I saw a remarkable animal in the veld today - the Kommandowurm, South Africa's most fearsome famine causing pest.
Most people when it comes to famine inducing swarms, think of grasshoppers and their mutations into locust swarms which obliterate crops and any vegetation or bio matter visible across the horizon. I've written about the devastation African Finches/Vinke cause to the crops/livelihoods and food-security of many african countries - to the extent in which desperate South African farmers even went t such extreme degrees as to fricking use explosives to destroy known treelines in which a Finch Swarm nests during the night, in the hopes of culling the swarm.

But few people expect a puny worm of all animals to be a pest, at least a famine-causing pest of 
biblical proportions. But just like the teensy tiny African Finch bird, there is great strength and devastation in large numbers, and when Kommando worm swarms strike, they can literally devour hundreds of hectares of farmland crops within hours.
The Kommando worm is the larva stage of an unassuming moth whom few people could differentiate from their household cousins. The larwe feeds on all forms of 
grasses and plat seeds, including seeds from mielies, rice, sorghum, corn, wheat, sugarcanes, and even peanuts. They would even devour all of the non-bark foliage of mall enough trees, leaving summertime saplings as barren as if mid-winter.
The Kommando worm obtained its name from the early dutch/proto-boers who saw the worm swarms

There's no definitive prediction for Kommando worm swarms, but they tend to explode during times of extreme droughts, just prior or during the rain-season of South Africa (October - March).
Kommando worms are not typical swarming pestilent insects, and don't behave similar in the manner in which Locusts swarm, as a byproduct of their natural cycles.
The moth form lives about 10 days before dying of hunger, and lays upwards of a 1000 
eggs in that time. The eggs hatch in 2-5 days, and become fully grown larvas in 2 weeks. The worms turn from bright green into their famous and dreaded dark striped colours

Yet most times when Kommando worms appear, it's as if out of nowhere, since proof of their previous presence had been absent, and they would appear very suddenly, before farmers could for example obtain warning signs such as fledgeling tiny hatched worms, instead it's usually the fully grown "adult" black striped kommando worms devastating farmland literally overnight! 
One hypothesis 
from the frequent observations and witnesses of Kommando worm swarms breaking out suddenly overnight, is that Kommando worm "troops" migrate over hundreds of kilometers -
they can start in Mozambique, and end in Free State within mere weeks.
Both the moths and worms migrate as groups, and both the moths and worms are extremely mobile and prone to very long distance migration. Oh and Kommando worms can exist in the entirety of Eastern Africa the continent. 
In the Youtube video opening of this post, the farmer basically shows a great example of a Kommandowurm swarming outbreak, the long streams and rivers of black are millions upon millions kommandowurms infesting his lands; basically this guy is already turbo fricked 
or at least all crops within the video frame is beyond help or saving as the worms had already streamed past any barrier and are gorging themselves upon all of the agricultural plants here.

Even up until 2017, no effective chemical or poison had been discovered which were effective or safe to use against Kommandowurm incursions. The RSA Department Agriculture, Fisseries and Forestry had published aid for both commercial farmers and subsistence farms in the Homelands of SA, so that south africans may prepare themselves in the coming decade for defending their farms against this pestilence.
Above is a whole long boring list which GrainSA and the government had deemed to be viable (but not definatively 100% effective) chemicals usable for commercial and subsistence farmers in the protection of their crops (against kommando worms specifically). Many problems are that these poisons and chemicals are expensive and difficult to transfer where needed. Sometimes they are sprayed by either plane or tractor; sometimes even by "hand", where farmhands portable pneumatic pumps in a backpack kit (this is usually what medium or subsistence farmers use). Point is though SA farmers are not idle in their experimentation and reseach, no pesticide has been foolproof.

When my father was a young boy 
in highschool, my father would regale me, the discipline and control of Afrikaners were pretty hardcore, even within school system. Almost military like.
Men/boys in "Koshuis" or School-Residence or School-Hostels, were expected to have their beds and linen made up every morning at 7-oclok. The Household-master would inspect every room, bed and school-uniform and if they were less than barracks-perfect, then corporeal punishment would follow in quick succession. There were no nonsense in those times about child abuse or human rights, only strict absolute discipline. Boys could be called anytime by the principle to assist locals in a small town, like aiding the local retirement home in moving beds and helping the elderly with hard manual tasks. This was normal and could be a weekly event.
One day, during hot humid summer, the Head of sports, during end year Exams, the school head of Sport and facilities, would burst into the main School Hall.
His face was red with panic, horror and exasperation. 
He shouted that a Kommando worm swarm had just originated West of the school grounds and were destroying everything in their path, including local gardens and backyard mini-farms.
Even WORSE! They were heading directly for the school's two RUGBY FIELDS!! 
The principle ordered every boy from grade 7-12 to race back to their dormitory, and put on their school boots. That afternoon, 200 boys, all male teachers, and several dozen bystanders and local farmhands (black and white), on that hot and humid summer day, sometime in 1980ish, would stand like a greek 
phalanx before the school's two rugby fields, and crush thousands upon thousands of black-striped Kommandowurms to mush before they could devour the well-maintained and mowed grass of the Rugby fields!!
There was no mercy for the squemish, there was no point in saying no, every man with boots within reach, was expected to help hold the line against the endless swarm of Kommando worms migrating past the school grounds.
Ichor and worm guts would plaster and cake the sides of the Rugby fields, and several exhausting hours later, the commando swarm relented and died out. Women and girls would bring water and wet clothes for the men and boys in the foreground, relentlessly crushing worm after worm with their boots, like trashcompactor at the scrapyard.

It sounds like I'm making this up, but but forming long human lines with farmhands and anyone you could grab with heavy work boots, and crushing the frickers was a legitimate strategy and method of combatting the frickers before their swarm came to your crops or garden. This was of course with the caveat on how much manpower could be gathered, and what the size of the swarm was. Sometimes the panicked and desperate endeavors of only a handful of farmhands would not be nearly enough to stop the migrating swarm of worms, from bypassing the poor south african farmers and feasting upon the crops of mielies, maize or wheat.
Physically crushing worms with boots, bakkies or tractors repeatedly driving forwards and reversing across a killing field was also employed by desperate farmers, with similarly mixed results in the past and even current present. Yet even with there being no magical bullseye poison specific to Kommanwurms, pesticide has still been proven to be more efficient in protecting large, hectares-spanning crops, from worm swarms, compared to the feeble attemps of like a dozen farmhands in crushing millions and millions of flood like kommando worms.
On a happier note, that day in 1980, my father and co, succeeded in saving their Rugby Fields for the Rugby season!

One of the few weaknesses our party has now is Sasha. She's not well armored enough and her longsword is pretty useless against most of the enemies we're starting to run into. I head back to our old home turf in Westphalia. I know Paderborn makes good weapons and Soest makes good armor. I buy her a poniard, basically a dagger. That might seem like a big step down as it has a base damage of 5 down from the longsword's 12 but it has 4 penetration (matching chainmail) and is much faster. With the poniard we should be able to get her into full chainmail eventually.
Level Scaling & The Main Plot
Darklands does have level scaling but don't jump to the conclusion that it's a bad thing. Some games like Oblivion are notorious for doing this the wrong way. All the enemies in the world are pegged to the same level as you, so theoretically if you could teleport to the end boss at the beginning of the game he would be at level 1 and the fight would be no more difficult than if you had played the whole game out to being level 20. In Darklands it calculates how strong it thinks your party is (I'm guessing based on skills) and as you get more powerful it upgrades the enemies, I believe twice. For example those street thugs who fought at the beginning of the game used to have just ordinary clothing on their limbs. Now it's padded armor. Presumably their attributes and skills are boosted too. But it still matters who they are. We're still going to slaughter those guys. But now a raubritter's henchmen will actually have some decent armor and are a challenge to us again. Since we're playing out the same quests over and over again, this is a way to make sure they don't get too stale.
Another thing that's triggered by your party growing stronger is an event calling you to stop just wandering around and take on mid game challenges. This definitely should have triggered by now. Either there's a bug or I got my saved games mixed up. So let's pretend it just happened now.
Well now we've got a real quest. Not from some banker or mayor but from God. Let's get on it.

Investigation
The Sabbat is where the pagans meet to celebrate their obscene rituals on one of their holidays. But when and where will it be this time? What would Crockett and Tubbs from Miami Vice do if they were hunting down a vast Satanic conspiracy in 1400s Germany? They'd start by picking up a low level Satanist and find out who his boss is.
We go to another Satanic village (there's quite a few) and slaughter everyone without even taking a single hit. Now what's this? Southeast of Goslar on June 21? It sounds like something important is going down. We should check it out. Today is June 5 but Goslar happens to be very close by so I should be able to get there in time. We'll want to avoid all combat if possible because we don't want to lose time healing wounds.
On the 15th we find this interesting Stonehengey type place southeast of Goslar. As we approach the music turns from adventurous to ominous.
I haven't been to a place this disturbing and depressing since I quit reddit.
A severed finger
I was thinking yakuza but actually Satanists would make more sense. So we've found the place we're looking for. There's not much to do but camp out here and wait a few days for them to show up. Maybe Redactor can stir up a few more potions. We're going to need them.
Nothing Happens
Somehow I missed them. Maybe I got the dates mixed up or something. Happens to me in real life all the time. Whatevs. We go to another Satanic village and get the next date: SE of Teschen on Halloween. Teschen is in Silesia near the border between Bohemia and Poland. It's pretty remote, but I think we've got plenty of time to get there.
Along the way we run into this place. It's a good reminder of just much history already existed back then. Germany had been Christian in Roman times but was then conquered by pagans who eventually were converted. This whole process took centuries, so there's ancient Christian ruins now that are long forgotten. In terms of the game, somebody probably sent us on a fetch quest here and I never bothered to go because I was far away at the time. But if we get his item maybe we'll run into him again someday.
See, I told you those Thunderbolt potions would be useful someday. I use one to blast open an entrance.
There's gotta be skeletons in every game.
This is the first time we've been in a long multi-part combat. There are groups of enemies around this dungeon and if I run into them I'll have to fight, but between fights we can walk around and go wherever we want. I'll have the party travel in single file so we don't get stuck every time we reach a doorway. But wait, Sasha, our weakest fighter, is pointman. I change the party's marching order so Nathan is in front. Now it's time to search for an exit.
Well that was easy. I find some stairs guarded by just one skeleton. He goes aggro on us when he sees us, kind of like a pod of enemies does in Nu X-Com. We make short work of him and walk off with the ancient crown.
I go after another one of these evil castle lords. For the first time we run into enemy archers. Everyone does fine except Sasha. Their armor blocks most of the damage, so it's only about 3 points for each arrow. A 3 point hit probably will only hurt endurance, not strength. Most of your lost endurance is regained after each fight so that's not huge problem. Restoring strength requires either rest, prayer, or alchemy so it's much more serious. Did I mention that when strength goes down to 0 your character is dead? Like completely permanently dead and you have to replace them with a new one.
I got plenty of time to kill before the Sabbat so I wander around the region, doing my usual thing, learning new saints and new formulas. In Pressburg the local alchemist trades to me the formula for Essence of Grace, the most important in the game as it's the healing potion that restores lost endurance and strength.
Teschen
Here we are. It's October 11, so that gives us plenty of time before Halloween to find the site and do some alchemy while we wait for the Satanic horde to show up. It's supposed to be SE of Teschen but Teschen is at the extreme eastern edge of the map. It must be this place. Yuna knows St. Raymond now, who can boost Redactor's Alchemy skill up to 99, so he can make huge batches of common potions. We'll settle down and let him do that for now.
Today's the day. Let's see what they're up to. WTF? This better not be Burning Man. I'll slaughter everyone if it is.

This is like some overly complicated spy movie that developed over a month so it's pretty long, but literally nothing makes sense and things drastically changed from day to day so hopefully it's still an interesting read

Quick background information that you should know 
Romania was never a democracy and it will probably never be one either, it's a known 'secret' that the country is controlled by our secret services. After the revolution we never disbanded the secret service responsible for all the horrible shit happening during communism, we just asked them to stop killing people and left them to do whatever they were doing. So they just rebranded under a different name, retained all the control they had over the country and shaped the new 'democracy' and it's political landscape to fit their needs. Per capita, Romania has the most known secret service agents in EU, but the exact number of people employed is kept a secret, we just know that there are more than the official number. We don't even know how many glowie organizations we actually have since some of them are completely hidden, we just know that more organizations exist out there but nothing else. The secret services have no transparency and answer to no one, they have to give a briefing to the parliament about their activities every now and then, but beyond that no one can actually check on whatever they're doing. Obviously, there are a frick ton amount of conspiracy theories surrounding them and they are blamed for every unusual thing that happens in the country. And this is exactly what I'll be doing here 
Second thing, we're an extremely docile nation who accepted pretty much everything those in power did over our history. Even during the revolution we calmed down immediately after killing Ceausescu and his wife, meaning that no one else was made to answer for the atrocities that happened during communism. Which is why the former generals and politicians still remain in politics today and why the secret services still control the country. So while reading this just remember that the population barely reacted to everything going on, aside from bitching on the internet a lot 
On to the parties! We have three main political factions:
the classic parties (PNL and PSD)
They are the first parties established after the communism's fall and have people in all the state's institutions in order to control them. They are also known for closely working with the secret services and basically being owned by them. They make sure the glowie wishes are being fulfilled (for example it's accepted that the constant pro-EU and pro-NATO attitude Romania has has been enforced by the secret services) and in exchange they are allowed to steal as much tax money as they want. They have ruled for decades, each playing opposition to the other, while happily mooching money together. But they also neglected to do literally anything for the country so the population got increasingly fed up with them. While PNL started to fall to the side, PSD remains the biggest and strongest party in the country and is accused by every other party of manipulating the elections every single time. And yes, they actually do it every single time the woke parties (mainly USR)
The party was created after people got fed up with the other parties for not doing anything to improve anyone's lives. They have modeled their program after the lib parties in Europe and America (mainly gay stuff but with some pro-Palestine messages too recently) but have libertarian tendencies. They infight a lot and split up in ever smaller parties all the time.the far right parties (AUR, SOS, POT)
Newest and the most untested faction we have. Parties of all sorts of -ists, generally pro-Russia and anti-EU and NATO. Also lots of antisemitism, this will be important later. They argue a lot with each other but still try to form coalitions. All of them have been accused of being russian spies.
And lastly the candidates!

Before the elections 
Quick note: we had two different elections recently, the presidential ones (in two parts) and the parliamentary ones. So, since we only vote on sundays, three weeks of voting in total.
At this point in time Georgescu
was completely unknow to anyone so the older parties were expecting to fight only two parties, both ruled by loud and stupid leaders. and parties have been mortal enemies for years while the are fighting both groups while also screaming at each other. Despite the rightoids slowly growing in power nobody thought they can do much in the elections.Sosoaca
has been forbidden by the Constitutional Court to candidate for the president position because she made some 'unconstitutional' statements - anti EU/NATO and for some antisemitism. This is a huge breach of the Court's duties because they have nothing to do with how the elections are organized, other institutions are responsible for this. But the Constitutional Court answers to no one and their decisions are law (I'm sure you can see a pattern) so she got kicked out of the race despite all her angry screaming. The decision was later retracted but oops too late to rejoin the race 
The Constitutional Court is made from judges appointed by different parties, mostly the
ones, so everyone was aware that are manipulating the elections again. But since Sosoaca is annoying and since she's suspected of working with Russia nobody really cared.In a rare public announcement SRI (main secret service organization for internal affairs) announced that the AUR party
is suspected of having ties with Russia too. This wasn't news for anyone but it's nice to have an official confirmation I guess. But they also said the there is no proof of any external interference in any political candidate's campaign so they won't interfere with the elections in any way (it's still unclear if the last statement applied to Georgescu as well or not since he basically didn't exist at this point).Ciolacu
who has been accused by everyone to work with Simion to win the elections reacted angrily to this. Basically, he'll support the party to reach the second voting session and there AUR will be this huge threat that will scare people into voting for Ciolacu in exchange of whatever political benefits he promised them after his win (like naming their leader prime minister). Anyway Ciolacu accused SRI of overstepping it's boundaries. They didn't react to this. Everyone else was angry that PSD is manipulating the elections again and even of risking Romania's security by working with a russian spy, while some even accepted that they'll manage to win. But beyond these points things moved on smoothly.This section is mostly important as a contrast to how the secret services and other political institutions reacted to potential russian spies (keep an eye out, open communications, quick decisions) and how they'll react from now on.
First presidential election! 
The battle was supposed to be between Ciolacu
and Lasconi Ciolacu should win most votes inside Romania but Lasconi could beat him with the votes gathered from diaspora.A news article about a 'surprise' coffee house meeting between Ciolacu
, Simion , the other party's leader and a secret service officer was written sometimes in the last weeks before the elections and someone rediscovered it. Lasconi's voters are annoyed. This is clear proof that PSD is once again manipulating elections.Voting happens and after that the counting starts. For awhile things were normal: Lasconi
first, then Ciolacu, Simion and on the fourth place some independent candidate nobody heard about, Gergescu . Who is he and how the frick did he get so high?Then Georgescu
climbed on the third place replacing Simion No seriously, who is this guy? Nobody heard of him.Then he dethroned Ciolacu
from the second place. This was quite shocking because the idea of PSD not ending in the last presidential election tour was unthinkable. This were the last results most people witnessed before going to bed. The counting will go throughout the night and the official results would be announced in the morning. Lasconi's voters were naturally overjoyed.Morning came... and Georgescu
was on the first place, way in front of the other candidates. 
just happened?
The week before the parliamentary elections 
The parliamentary elections happened a week after the first presidential elections. Obviously it was a very busy week after such a weird turn of events
Everyone was confused as shit and started to search who the frick Georgescu
even was. Turns out that he was a complete nutjob: he believes in all sort of new age shit (mystical energies, crystals, communicating with spirits, natural healing bullshit) every conspiracy theory out there (moon landing is false, covid is a hoax, aliens, jews control the word, satanic NWO, you name it), is very against NATO and EU to the point where he wants to pull Romania out of them, and praises Russia at any given opportunity while hating Ukraine and considering it a fake country. He also praised our version of Hitler and called him a hero So, where did this schizo came from? All of his campaign happened on TikTok. No media appearances, no poster, no fliers, nothing. He just gathered a following on TikTok through his insane ramblings and convinced these people to vote for him. Since he was deepthroating Russia's peepee left right and center, and since Russia is known for manipulating social media through an army of bots, everyone (aside from his voters) started to get worried that he's yet another russian spy trying to overthrow our democracy.
Wtf are our secret services doing? What's the point of them eating so many of our taxes if they can't even defend the country from Russia? How could they miss this huge attack on our country?
But every one of them remained silent and didn't react in any way to all this chaos.
People started to get more confused and more videos of Georgescu
saying insane shit were uncovered. More and more voices started to scream about russian interferences, but a few people pointed out an uncomfortable truth - PSD was always viewed as the party that supports the current political 'system' and USR as the anti-system candidates but that was when USR was founded. Now it's been years since then, USR won some important political positions and did nothing important with them or messed up... they've became part of the system just as much as PSD. The are voted mainly for being new faces against institutional corruption rather than because people agree with their insane positions. How do you earn these voters back now that they're about to throw Romania into Russia's arms out of spite? 
Vote observers from small villages came forth and said that PSD
told them to count their votes to AUR's tally to propel them into the final round so he can have an easy win ("We fricking knew PSD is manipulating elections once again!" 
). But it turns out that they were giving their votes to Georgescu as well. Wut? Did they know about him?Meanwhile Georgescu
declared that he received zero money for his campaign and that he also spent no money during it (this is important for later). This lead to people saying that this is proof that Russia financed him in order to destabilized the country. Also multiple people were fined for still campaigning on the voting day with is illegal, and to everyone's annoyance Georgescu's supporters, who were doing it too, were completely unaffected Ciolacu
and the leader of the other party stepped down from their leadership positions due to their embarrassing defeats (this will be important later on too).
Now some weird accusations start to appear
Sosoaca accused Georgescu of being a Mossad spy while an AUR member accused him of being a CIA asset instead. Both of these parties like to scream hysterically at everyone else so nobody really took them seriously. A former president known for his collaboration with the former communist secret services told everyone to calm down since there is no proof that Georgescu was financed by outside actors. He was actually financed by individual inside the country. Wtf does this means? Research into Georgescu's
past revealed further oddities. Man was probably part of the old communist secret services (very few people were allowed to travel outside the country and despite being completely unremarkable he was allowed to go out multiple times), has been working with the KGB (to spy on them), has been a member of the Club of Rome (think tank for helping humanity develop sustainably or some shit, the important part that another romanian politician with ties to the secret services was there too), he was part of the UN and has been a freemason (for the last two he claimed that he left them because of all the evil shit happening inside the organisations). He also has been arrested in the past for his support of nazis but his cases were mysteriously closed with no explanation given 
A handful of r-slurs protested every day since Georgescu won the first tour but nobody cared
The recount and the slow death of Romania's democracy
A few days after the official election results come in an independent candidate who only gained 1% of the votes decided to contest the elections despite having no chances to win. He wrote two different complaints, one against Lasconi
and one against Georgescu The accusation against Georgescu was rejected because it was made after the three days limit expired, despite the complainer's insistance that he made the contestation in time. But the accusation against Lasconi was accepted. His declaration stated that in three different locations the votes that were supposed to go to Ciolacu were actually counted for Lasconi. The Constitutional Court once again overstepped it's boundaries and ordered for all the votes to be re-counted.At this point people were starting to get worried. Half of them were accusing PSD
of preferring to burn down democracy rather than accept that they lost the elections for the first time (again, most of the judges appointed to the constitutional court came from the two main parties). Basically, since you didn't vote for our candidate we'll remake the elections until Ciolacu enters the final round. And since the difference between Ciolacu and Lasconi were really small while Georgescu was way ahead of both of them, it means that Lasconi will get kicked out of the race in favor of Ciolacu, which means a landslide victory for Georgescu due to the anti-system voters.The other half noticed that up til now everything happening favored Georgescu
He avoided every possible consequence despite multiple irregularities in his campaign unlike other candidates (for example Sosoaca was pulled out of the race for saying milder shit than him) and all this scandal would further raise his popularity as the anti-system candidate. Is it possible that the secret services are actually protecting the nutjob? It would explain why they haven't done anything to stop him. Some politician made a petition for TikTok to be banned in Romania for the duration of the elections to prevent Georgescu from campaigning. People were torn between considering this yet another hit on democracy but enough of us were happy to do anything to stop Georgescu
(same thing for the recount actually). The petition wasn't approved and later on he apologized for trying to shut down the funny videos app for everyone.Our secret services still said nothing at this point, and the EU decided to finally do something in their place. They called the owner of the application and demanded explanations for the bot filled campaign. Georgescu's
voters got angry at this and said that this is proof that EU interferes in Romania's business and that we should distance ourselves form it. The investigation didn't reveal much, lots of bots, some russian but not all. No real proof of election interference Our current president finally decided to react to the panic and said that the secret services hadn't given him any warnings about Georgescu
As a shock for everyone, Ciolacu
came out and said that he disagrees with the Court's decision and that he'll pull out of the race if he's declared winner after the recount. B-but all this was supposed to be his plan to steal the election to enter the final round, wtf is going on? If he doesn't want this then who does? Predictably, most people realized that he's bullpooping and that he'll walk this back if he actually wins 
Now things get nasty. A weird facebook poster claimed that he was accidentally added to a mail list between multiple former secret service agents that were discussing using Georgescu
to stage a coup. Basically the members of the former communist secret services were upset that the country distanced itself from Russia and wanted to forcefully bring us back into it's influence zone. One mail specifically said that we should become a satellite of China (?). Panic started to settle now, this was proof that at least some secret services wanted Georgescu to win and since they control the country then there's nothing we can do to stop them 
After this news people discovered that the parties (all of them) have the largest number of known former secret services officers as members, further cementing the conspiracy theories that our own secret services are dragging us all towards Russia Oddly enough Georgescu started to soften his positions. He declared that he doesn't actually wants to take us out of NATO and EU, he just wants us to stop agreeing unconditionally with everything they decide (like helping Ukraine), that America is Romania's most important partner, and despite being an actual nazi, he started sucking Israel's peepee hard. He said that on the first day after he's declared president he will move our embassy to Jerusalem, declare the arrest request for Bibi as unconstitutional and that he'll invite him to visit Romania, and that he'll not only make antisemitism a crime (it already is just not really enforced) but that he'll expand the definition of it as well
You'd expect his nazi followers to be upset at that but they barely reacted at all. There were a few disappointed messages but they got over it in less than a day Leftists were more affected than them because muh war criminal muh genocide 
Anyway, moving on, we still have so much more to cover
After the Israel stuff some guys noticed a few odd things about Georgescu's videos. He praised Orban and mentioned stuff about Romania tightening ties with Asia, which was also present in Orban's declarations. Since Orban, and a few other eastern european leaders, refused to arrest Bibi, since his speech mirrors Orban's, since he wants to remain an ally to Murica but wants to sever ties with Western Europe and since he has similar ideas of 'befriending' Russia as Trump, rumours started that Georgescu is an american and/or israeli spy. Basically, Trump wants to break ties with Western Europe but still wants to keep control of Eastern Europe and get it closer to Russia and China, who America will become friendlier towards, and Georgescu is meant to force Romania to play it's part in this plan. So, what where those accusations about him being a CIA/Mossad asset again? 
This didn't reassure anyone because Trump is already viewed as Putin's friend and OMG America is going to force us back under Russia, and how the frick is a shithole from Eastern Europe supposed to defend itself from the CIA and/or Mossad? Especially since our secret services, the ones supposed to protect us, seem to agree with all of this? At this point the general mood became depressed and fatalistic
Rumours started that RFK jr and Tucker Carlson will come to Romania to show support for Georgescu
Some journo even showed a letter from Murica's embassy in Romania with Trump's signature as proof. But nobody on murican side confirmed any of this. Later on, one of Trump's former campaign managers also hinted at coming to Romania for this but in a really vague way. Everyone was confused
A new
party appeared for the parliamentary race, POT, considered Georgescu's unofficial party. They had the exact same TikTok strategy as him, but if we can assume that Georgescu managed to hide long enough from the secret services through TikTok how did these guys slip through? Surely, at this point our secret services are aware of this electoral interference, right? Why aren't they stopping it? 
Leader of this new party visited Beijing at some point and promised that Romania will have closer ties with China if they win. Why is everyone trying to make us China's allies anyway, we didn't had much ties with them in the first place?
Recounts start. Constitutional Court ordered all recounts to be done behind closed doors, with no camera or supervisors. Shit, it's happening, we're getting couped
Ciolacu entering the final round won't help anyone since his party is completely controlled by the secret services and he won't do anything to fight their plans. Basically between him and Georgescu we're fricked no matter who wins 
Another handful of r-slurs gathered to protest but were quickly told to go home. Nothing else happened
Oh, and that part about Gerogescu
declaring zero donations and expenses? Turns out the institution responsible for checking up the candidates' campaign finances 'forgot' to publish the financial declarations for nearly a week, which is why his absurd declaration flied under the radar. Also, it's too late to do anything about it now, contestation time limit has long since passed
- But plot twists! Turn out RFK jr won't actually come to Romania, turn out Georgescu wasn't even a member of the Club of Rome, just part of some affiliated organization, and the same thing happened with his UN membership. Wtf, does this guy even exists at this point? But wait! He was actually part of the UN... but no one knows who appointed him there in the first place Clearly this is some glowie shit and we already know he was a glowie and that he's supported by glowies
The parliamentary elections 
These are actually the most important elections since the president barely has any power here. The parliament makes the laws. Candidate parties need to meet a certain voting threshold to win and the winners will make alliances with each other. While a dominant alliance that owns over 50% of the seats is preferred for a stable parliament we can have multiple smaller alliances negotiating each action, but that's a really unstable situation.
The recounts are still going. Everyone is stressed and demoralized. Why do we even bother to vote if the Constitutional Court will just throw away the results again?
Turns out the other
party managed to get itself kicked out of the diaspora voting lists for not listing a woman candidate among their member lists. Funny lol r-slurs but once again, why is every happening favoring Georgescu ?Voting happens and the votes are counted. Because of PSD's
bullshit not everybody can vote in these elections (you need to vote in the place you live in, so students or workers who travel for their jobs are eliminated) and diaspora's votes barely count. So the results now are different. All three factions failed to reach a majority. No matter what, the parliament is split in three and they need to negotiate with each other to make a majority Since diaspora's vote didn't count here PSD
got most votes and become the most important player. No matter what, they will join the ruling alliance, and again the parliament actually controls the country not the president. This could be good or bad depending on whether they are actually trying to coup the country or if they just want to keep being able to steal tax money (later one means that they won't pull us out of EU) 
But if they ally with the parties and if Georgescu wins the presidency and if Georgescu appoints Ciolacu (or someone else from their party) as prime minister then together they will effectively control all parts of the country. And again, if the conspiracy theories with the secret services forcing us towards Russia is true then no one will be able oppose that plan 
Yet no one moved to make any alliance at this point since the recount haven't been finished and nobody even knows who can become president yet

...and nothing changed. All the panic and all the conspiracy theories were in vain. The second tour of the presidential elections will go without any changes - pro EU Lasconi vs pro-Russia Georgescu Last voting session will still happen this weekend But then what was the point of all this bullshit and chaos? 
Best anyone can come up with is that PSD tried to steal the first elections but either failed or waited to see how the parliamentary elections faired to settle on one strategy. And since they basically won the important election there's no point in remaking the first elections. Politicians Ciolacu
revealed that he won't actually step down as PSD's leader. What a surprise 
Everyone is waiting to see who PSD will support both as president and as an ally for the parliament but they still haven't decided. Shit maybe they do actually want to ally with ?
Until this point our secret services still said absolutely nothing about the situation, so Lasconi
finally gathered the courage to do something that should have been done since the beginning: ask them directly what the frick is happening here 
She made a petition for them to make public the files they have on Georgescu Which they agreed (but only gave a rapport rather the actual files) It don't reveal much: some 'state actors' helped promote him on TikTok in a way that proved that they were very familiar with the algorithm and with how to keep themselves hidden from the state. The campaign had lots of similarities with the disinformation campaigns happening in Ukraine and the election interference happening in Moldova, both carried by Russia. But they don't name Russia as Georgescu's
backers directly. Still, it's clear that Russia was behind this right? The secret services just can't reveal everything and endanger national security, yeah? The cops have decided to finally start investigating Georgescu and the media is calling him a traitor. Ciolacu came out and officially said that he supports Lasconi for president and that his party will join with her party and the other parties to form a pro- west parliamentary majority in order to block out the parties. It's finally over and Romania is saved 
Well, you see, it's too late to remove the russian asset from the presidential race since the contestation time window is over and we can't kick him out any longer

campaign and his ties with Russia all this time. Good thing they aren't incompetent, right? The president knew too, and Ciolacu (current prime minister) revealed that he was also aware of this but couldn't say anything since it was a state secret... but why didn't he at least throw his support for Lasconi earlier? He could have done this without revealing anything else... What is going on? Why isn't anyone doing anything? 
Besides, despite making an official alliance with the pro-EU parties, PSD
can still either break the alliance at a later date and join the parties, vote alongside the pro-Russia parties despite their promise, and even if Lasconi wins the parliament can force her out of her position and call for new elections. Plus the parliament is more important than the president and they have the biggest share of it... maybe those conspiracy theories were right after all? The police and other authorities said that they received no warning for Georgescu
no message or documents, nothing despite the secret services having files on him for who knows how long. They are just as shocked as anyone else. Even if they start investigating him now it might take awhile to arrest him. The elections might be done already. Sure, they could still cancel his mandate on treason charges, probably, but will they? And what does 'state actors' even means? It could just mean our secret services. And even if they specifically mean foreign state actors, we can go back to the CIA/Mossad conspiracy theory 
Are we still getting couped? Do they care so little about our opinions that they will tell us straight to our face that we'll join Russia and that there's nothing we can do about it?

A criminal investigation on him by multiple institutions has started, but it's unclear if it will help with anything. What will happen if he wins the election?
EU demanded TikTok to not delete his campaign data
The guy who demanded a recount came back and asked for both elections to be cancelled. Nobody knows what's his problem
America asked us if we're ok. We still don't have an answer to this question.
No seriously, why aren't they arresting him yet? Why didn't they actually do anything all this time?
So, this sunday I'll go vote in an election that might have it's winner already decided or might just get cancelled after the votes are counted An one of the candidates is an admittedly traitor to the country. Introduction to the Drama 
For those unaware, Armored Core is an incredibly niche mecha action shooter from the wildly popular game developer FromSoftware. You play as a mercenary that pilots an Armored Core, a cutting edge mech and take on missions from corporations in the pursuit of massive profit. Warcrimes, 1 on 1 Duels, Giant Boss Fights, and more await. You may recognize FromSoftware as the company who created the massive Dark Souls franchise and its derivatives.
Armored Core's last release was over a decade ago, and the announcement of AC6 breathed new life into the once dead franchise. Old and new fans alike were hyped for the new game, but discontent was stirring. A strange lack of gameplay and the deliberate hiding of game mechanics created a sense of unease in the assorted fan discussion boards. The big question was about to get its answer... Is it SoulsLike?
Souls Like 
The veteran fans were affraid that their beloved franchise was going to be gentrified by the addition of mechanics commonly associated with the Dark Souls franchise. From the limited trailers and developer interviews, longtime fans tentatively hoped that the franchise would stay true to its roots. Previous games featured insanely clunky controls, manual aiming, massive customization, and debt. Lots of debt. Veterans feared that the identity of this game would be sacrificed in order to appeal to a much, much larger fanbase.

So what exactly are the changes that the dinosaurs are complaining about? In short:
Hard Lock On/Turning Speed

I'll give a brief desription of each point to give further context to the coming drama.
Hard Lock/Turning Speed 
In all entries prior to AC 6, turning speed is a key stat to design your mech around. This is no longer the case. A key gameplay skill was keeping your opponent in front of your robot. Now that the camera and mech automatically snap to your enemy, this major skill check is almost entirely removed from the core game loop.
Estus Flask 
Another core gameplay feature was that damage you take during missions is mostly permanent. You must attempt to complete a mission with the AP (health) that you start with. Certain games had minor ways to replenish health and ammo during a mission, but are exceedingly rare. This is no longer the case. A robot can heal at any point in the game, very similar to the Estus Flask from Dark Souls. Yet another major departure from the previous entries.
Big Telegraphed Attacks 
Boss fights are common in the franchise, but the new way to approach them is substantially different now. Referring to the linked gameplay trailer, you can see the boss mech wind up its chainsaw arms and slam down at the player. This was not how bosses worked in the past, which is yet another SoulsLike addition to the game.
Simplified Customization 
This one is less important as the others in my opinion, but is still a point for veterans to cope and seethe about. It appears that the types of parts that you can customize your mech with has been reduced. The fewer categories make it slightly easier for new players to approach building a mech which understandably makes the longtime fans sneed.
Gatekeeping 
Naturally, the long standing fans are clashing with the new blood that the souls franchise brought in. There is shit flinging on all sides as new fans gloat about their soulslike influence while dinosaurs lament the casualization of their beloved mecha franchise. Some choice threads to spectate:

At this point, the old fans have been almost completely outnumbered by new fans of the franchise. As unfortunate as this is for oldies, the result was inevitable. Just for some context as to the size disparity of the Armored Core and Souls franchises, the best selling AC game is Armored Core 2 at a respectable 790,000 copies sold. Compare that to Elden Ring's 17 million copies. That many copies? In how many years?

My Take on the Matter 
Armored Core is going the way of souls. Is this a good change? Or the total destruction of a niche beloved franchise?
Truthfully, I think the changes are good. I believe that we old fans have extreme rose colored glasses for the ancient and archaic control scheme of the PS2 era games. Note that those games did not even use twin sticks despite being on the console for several years.
The games are going to be fun and my extreme hopium 
is that the mecha genre in the west gains much more widespread approval.

I'll admit it - I don't like dogs. They're dangerous, loud, dirty, and they have no place in residential areas. Nevertheless, it is evident that many members of society, particularly women, are exceptionally fond of these creatures. The perception that woman love dogs disproportionately isn't imagined, and it's worth noting that it's a new trend. Many millennial women have opted to have dogs over children, and sometimes even husbands!
This is all good news for dogs. They're being invited into some of the most affluent homes in the world, and they are being pampered beyond belief. All that money that would have went to paying for a child's tuition, clothes, and other essentials is now spent caring for a canine.
With this information in mind, you would expect to see women have great relationships with dogs, and for dogs to appreciate their time with women. That is not what we're seeing. Instead, we are witnessing an increasing number of dog attacks on women specifically.
What could possibly explain this trend? Well, I have a theory. It is a drastic one, but I believe I have sufficient evidence to prove it. Warning, it does contain rather vile elements, but these are aspects of reality we cannot ignore. Please, feel free to debunk me where you find flaws, but I am certain there are few.
What causes dogs to bite?
So why do dogs bite? Well, a few reasons. Let's start with the least violent reasons. Dogs use their teeth to manipulate objects in the environment. This is typically known as a "soft bite" and it may be used to pick up a pup, for example. The soft bite is also used by hunters to retrieve fowl.
Some dogs have been bred to have a strong bite instinct to use when herding. This is especially useful when dealing with stubborn breeds of cattle that don't respond to the usual intimidation tactics from dogs. These small bites are known as "nips", and sometimes dogs will "nip" children in an attempt to hard them.
Dogs also bite as a form of communication. You see, dogs don't have words, but they do have barks and growls. Biting can be an extension of that. If a growl doesn't deter an unwanted threat, a bite is meant to get the job done.
Lastly, dogs bite to destroy. Like us, dogs can be angry, vengeful, and scared. In such situations, they may seek to destroy whatever is causing them upset. To do this, they maul. It is actually very rare for dogs to maul. Firstly, many dogs don't have the mauling instinct. They simply bite and release. Secondly, when dogs attack, they are typically scared. They don't want to spend more time near you than necessary. Mauling puts them close to their attacker, which is dangerous. Lastly, dogs are typically naive regarding humans, as we have bred them that way. There is very little benefit to biting a humans for a dog, unless they are defending themselves. This is not to say that dogs never bite for no reason. Of course not. However, they almost never maul for no reason.

Quite frankly, I don't consider pitbulls to be domesticated dogs. They're feral animals. There's nothing domesticated about a pitbull. For normal dogs, mauling for no reason is exceptionally rare (usually such instances are due to old dogs suffering from dementia).
So what's my theory? It is simple: Many cases of dog bites involving women are instances of self defence. The dogs weren't attacking. They were defending themselves from women. I will take things a step further, and I know this is where I will lose most of you. The dogs are typically defending themselves from sexual assault or rap. No, I'm not joking in the slightest. I'm aware of the seriousness of my statements. I express them publicly because of the conclusions I have drawn.
A Case Study
Jacqueline Durand was a 22 year old girl who loved dogs, was in the University of Texas, had a boyfriend, and would dog walk in her free time. She was hired to walk the dogs of Dr Bishop and his wife Ashley. It was two dogs, one a German Shepherd and the other a Boxer (according to some reports it was a Boxer and Pitbull mix, though this hasn't been confirmed). What's important to note here is that Jacqueline had met the dogs prior, and even she admits they were sweet and showed no signs of aggression.
On 21 December 2022, she arrived at the house where she was to meet the dogs. According to Jacqueline, as soon as she opened the door, it triggered the alarm, causing the dogs to attack her for over an hour. During the attack, she sustained over a hundred bits and lost love 30% of her blood. She was terribly disfigured, and she will be facing for the next two years, as she stated in an interview earlier this year.
There are a few points I'd like to highlight. If they attacked her at the door, why was the main location of the mauling at the beds of the dogs? So did they drag her from the door to the living room because they wanted somewhere private and secluded to ensue the mauling? I struggle to understand why dogs would want to drag someone into the home. Dogs are territorial. If anything, they'd be trying to get her out of the house.
Secondly, she was found completely naked. COMPLETELY. You can see a snippet of the bodycam footage here, but be warned that it is extremely graphic.
How do dogs take off clothes? They haven't any hands. Are we supposed to believe that dogs took off her clothes? Everything, including bra and panties?! Here's my big question: for the facial reconstruction surgery, they took skin from her buttocks. How did the dogs take off her underwear without ripping the skin off her buttocks as well? So they were vicious enough to rip off her underwear but delicate enough to leave the skin of her buttocks intact to the point where it could be used for grafting. Bullshit. Yes, it should be clear what I am implying - she entered the house of her own according, found the dogs alone as she was anticipating, and proceeded to remove her own clothing.
These dogs were in the home of a doctor, who lived with a child, and none of them had ever been victimized by the dogs. Why did they then, out of the blue, decide to chew on a human being for the next hour? Something triggered them. I put it to you that these dogs were provoked, and you know how.
Since then, she has tried to press charges on the Bishop family. The only evidence that the dogs showed any kind of aggression prior was a sign warning visitors not to press the doorbell or else it'll get the dogs going. Nothing at all abnormal about dogs reacting to the doorbell. Plenty of dogs go nuts when the doorbell rings, including friendly dogs anticipating visitors.
The clothing is the most darning piece of evidence for me. The second most darning evidence is the fact that Jacqueline still loves dogs. She still owns dogs (large ones of course), and she wants to work with dogs. This isn't a normal love of dogs. There is something else going on here, a deep attraction to these beasts that goes beyond anything rational. I will not overlook the fact that one of the worst dog attack victims in recent memory still can't keep her hands off dogs. That's not quirky, that's paraphilia.
Conclusion
Think about how many dogs have been put down following a dog attack. Oftentimes, we don't know what happened and the only people around to give an account are the victims and any potential survivors. Do you think we know the whole story? So many cases of mothers home with children who claim the dog suddenly snapped and ate the kids. We've been so quick to assume that the animals were acting wild. Never have we asked whether the dogs were the victims.
Self-defence is not a crime, especially against unwanted sexual contact. Next time you hear about a woman who was alone and suddenly got attacked by dogs, think twice.
