I know, right? The Sennheiser HD800S only costs $1,600, and its expansive soundstage ensures that my waifu’s passionate moaning is reproduced with the utmost lifelike realism, tonally perfectly neutral, airy, and unmarred by harshness or sibilance, when I play my anime titty games.
First one I got was £129 but the earcuffs broke so I sent it back, and they were both out of stock and listed at full price for £249 so I had to wait. A few months later they were available and only £109 so I bought a second. Sound quality is phenomenal for under £150, but they aren't the most comfortable, very rigid and break easily if you try to turn the ear cuffs too much, and have a shitty brown colour like my skin.
But are they better than the original? I was reading Aurvana Live 2 reviews and professional reviewers on review sites who are paid for being nice were, like, well, they are better in some respects, while people on forums were, like, nah, they are just mediocre.
Size is not the only thing that matters, apparently the popularity of CAL! was based precisely on them using some very very good drivers (inherited from an ever earlier headphones that apparently almost accidentally stumbled upon this design), but reviews seem less that impressed by later attempts to improve on that success.
all over reddit you can see pictures of kids with expensive open headphones placed right beside a window 50 feet from a busy street or 2 feet from a PC with about a dozen fans spinning at 4k RPM
If you had any contact with Sennheiser, you'd know that the marketing department has no influence on the product creation process at all, because it's exactly 3 people and they're busy with marketing stuff.
It doesn’t really matter what anyone says about the HE400i and its treble, since you won’t be able to hear it over the tinnitus caused by the HE400i’s treble.

Original Creative Aurvana Live! are still the best, the $60 price tag (if you can find them) is just a bonus.

No price on the gold so must be out of stock.
This is not a sponsered advert, just advice for great audio quality at great prices.

No clue tbh, I know the Platinums should be better because they have a 50mm something instead of the 40mm in lower models.

Maybe. And also my soundbar cant receive input by USB it seems, only output. Connecting via bluetooth gives me crappy onboard audio connection.

Fun fact: Sennheiser sells all of the replacement parts required to build a pair of HD650s for half the cost of buying them assembled.
Even cheaper if you use the headband/covers/etc from "lesser" models like the 580/595/600/etc. They're interchangeable.
