Is it just me, or if you replace “srdine” with “dramautist”, you can see even more clearly how hateful the rhetoric is. How much vitriol and disgust. But it isn’t actually about what we are really saying or doing — it’s just who they build us up to be. Of course it’s a slur— if replacing it with another slur is a 1:1, it’s a slur. No one says “I disagree with the basic ideology of srdines and I find them to be unpleasant people.” No, it’s “Gd hates dramautists” ... and it’s “Die dramautists”, “fuck off dramautists”. And we are supposedly the hateful ones.
It's one of those situations where the actual taxonomical term itself just becomes a slur through common usage, like Chinaman and Oriental and Sneaky Jew.
