Relay has an option to permanently hide items when you press the FAB for (usually temporarily) hiding read items.
That also uses Reddit's Hide-mechanism, and therefore makes the x appear, so maybe check if you've activated that under Settings->Behaviour->"Hide read items permanently".
Other than that, it could also just be a visual glitch. If the post also appears under Profile->Hidden, then it's not a visual glitch.
First they came for pinging and I said nothing, then they took away my pibble drama because it is "low effort shit posting" and now they're deleting your threads.
