My friend explained it to me once but we were drinking heavily so I may have it wrong but basically this chick was boning reviewers to get good reviews for her game and everyone flipped out about "ethics in gaming journalism" and there was a huge harassment campaign against her. "Gaming journalism" is a stupid place to take a stand over ethics though because the whole thing is based on access to the games that is provided by the devs so of course it isn't going to be objective. If you don't give good reviews then they are going to blacklist you from getting early releases and shit like that. He also said that the people who just wanted to find out what was going on were lumped in with the harassers and somehow the whole alt-right thing came out of gamergate so basically this bitch is directly responsible for getting Trump elected or something like that. Idk I was pretty drunk.
I think Zoe was that chick. Even with the Alec guy, who killed himself (whom she metoo’ed), she was mooching off him. She was living with him and she had no money. To me it seems like she’s not a real feminist. She’s using the feminist image to protect herself from any guy who would try to discredit her. She just uses people for money and other gains.
To be honest, Anita comes across as way more genuine to me than Zoe even though Anita is also a cash grabber. I don’t believe for a second that she would be this “passionate” about women in gaming or whatever the hell she advocates for if it didn’t pay. At least Anita delivered some content with the donated money, founded some groups and crap like that. Also attended -cons. Money donated to Zoe never came back in any form. She would appear with some outrageous story every year or so and then, collect donation money for her sob story.
They are just like the anti SJW YouTubers. They may generally agree with the political views of the side they subscribe to BUT I highly doubt that they are that passionate about them. Doing it for the 💵
