It is the exact same psychology as Americans getting butthurt when somebody says something bad about America, even if it is 100% justified. Even high ranking American politicians were butthurt about NBA players criticizing current trends in US and told the people to boycott NBA. Imagine how butthurt these politicians were if the NBA would be a foreign organization which they could ban because foreign organizations are not allowed to interfere with US politics.
