In the American imagination, Bonnie and Clyde are always white. The new movie Queen and Slim reinvents this doomed love story, and challenges viewers to re-evaluate how they racialize the runaway lover trope.

"In the American imagination, Martin Luther King, Jr., is always black. We're re-imagining him to be the white savior the black community always needed but never had."

Lmao

What we really need is Uncle Ruckus from Boondocks.

If you black of skin and full sin come forward so that I may lay my hands on you. Black be gone! Praise white Jesus!

We will use the tools the great god has given us to strike fear into the nigga's heart. A whip, a noose, a job, a branding iron. A job application.

I command thy black nigga soul, back to the depths of hell

A pimp named slickback is better

Let us say the Lord's prayer. Lord, please pray for the soul of this bitch, guide my pimp hand and make it strong, lord! So that she may learn a ho's place. Amen.

What if Hitler was the good guy and the holocaust never really happened? History is written by the victor. And the victor could be a Jew with an agenda.

Tiny brain: Glamorizing the thug life

Big brain: Casting blacks into protagonist white roles

Galaxy brain: Casting blacks into the role of white murderers because they're the good guys

Vox's fluorescent yellow theme is supposed to remind you of newspapers scribbled with highlighters (ergo first class journalism), but all it does is blind me for a few seconds and makes me hate Ezra Kleinstein even more.

It just doesn't work because no human in this world would risk a death sentence for this unattractive woman

“Bonnie and Clyde” is the wrong comparison for “Queen And Slim”. Clyde was a criminal when he met Bonnie and the two of them continued on in a life of crime and murder. Queen and Slim were an educated couple who met on a first date infused via a dating app. Their lives took a turn for the worst when they were accosted by an overzealous cop.

Stop comparing “Queen And Slim” to “Bonnie And Clyde”.
