Honestly? That’s kind of a lot. I used to work at my schools financial aid department and you’d either have to be dumb, fuck up, or have no real since of financial responsibility to reach those levels
Edit- this kind excludes grad school. But not really. Most grad school students automatically are eligible for $10,250 in loans, but almost none need it. So if you take out $10k a semester in loans you really don’t need except to not have a job while you take 6 hours of classes, you fall in to one of my 3 categories IMO
I know people with over $100k in debt. Switched majors a few times and then got advanced degrees. Not saying that was the smartest thing to do, but they did it.

So they’d have to have gone to graduate degrees and got the loan limits along the way since the loan limit of 138k. Which means they never attempted to apply for scholarships, had scholarships and lost them, went to schools they knew they couldn’t afford, and never really thought their actions through. They are retards and that isn’t the general populations problem
