I'm starting to become convinced that people's opinions on the new star wars movies are solely based on their political views

While previously it was rightoids seething about the last jedi, now it seems that leftoids are seething about the rise of skywalker. Especially after the interview where the producers trashed rian johnson, there has been a sudden influx of lefties defending the last jedi fervently for some reason. As a radical centrist I have not seen either movie. Can anyone who has seen the movies explain why this is happening

The only straight negative review I’ve heard is from a far leftoid. Normal libs and centrists Ive heard talk about it have given it neutral to positive reviews. I don’t have any rightoid reviews yet

Leftoids are upset over the new spaceshit because they defended TLJ so fervently against the rightoid menace only for like 90% of the movie being retconned out of existence.

I thought that lefties hated it because Darth Vader II saves Lucy Skywalker at the end.

I'm indifferent to leftoid nonsense in modern Hollywood movies. It is to be expected and I try not to be too bothered and judge a movie harshly for it. However, irrespective of your personal inclination, you should be able to see these Disney sequels for what they are, soulless cash grabs. They what all over the legacy of the og trilogy undoing the arcs of those movies. All three protagonists die miserable and alone.

Hell, they shit over the prequels, which shouldn't be possible.

The prequels did the same thing. Not trying to be an OT purist, but I'm an OT purist.

Prequels didn't screw with the OT characters except Darth Vader. With prequels, I can atleast see what Lucas was trying to convey but sequels are just all over the place.

Star Wars always sucked. Star Trek is better.

Last Jedi is just a better movie, it has themes, a beginning, middle, and end. TROS is just a total goddamn mess with absolutely no vision whatsoever beyond little callbacks for r/prequelmemes and what JJ Abrams thinks are “homages.” Neither movie actually has any real politics in it, it’s fucking Disney.
What some people I guess won’t admit because of politics is that in the context of a trilogy, neither of them work at all and contradict each other. It’s never been clearer that Disney decided they wanted to cash in on SW nostalgia before they had any actual idea of a saga. I think Johnson is less of a hack than Abrams but if either one of them had been given the whole trilogy it would’ve been significantly less disappointing

I didn’t see spaceshit 9 but there’s no way it’s worse than spaceshit 8

I would call it “fine,” I guess. My issue with it mainly is that the joke/quip count gets nearly doubled, the entire plot is powered by Macguffins, and it doesn’t have an ounce of style to the filming or cinematography. That’s Abrams though so depends on how much you like him. The fucking director of photography for it has a resume including shit like Pacific Rim Uprising, Cloverfield 2, Amazing Spider-Man 2, and other terrible sequels so I shouldn’t be surprised.
Fuck I shouldn’t have typed this much I’m sorry

LongPostBot: have you owned the libs yet?

JFC I don't watch spaceshit but I heard even even TLJ had too many random jokes thrown in to make sure the lowest common denominator doesn't get bored, did they genuinely put in more? 🙄

My opinion is that I am not seeing any more of these gay-ass movies
1 myNAMEjef420 2019-12-23
This has been literally every reboot/sequel movie since ghostbusters 3.
1 NotchDidNothingWrong 2019-12-23
They're simplistic shit movies and people are trying to cover it up with politics.

I hope AI is advanced enough in 20 years for George Lucas to deepfake the black guy and asian chick into attractive white people.
