Absolving fathers of any financial burden or responsibility in the mutual act of conceiving children would not work out well for society. All that would do is enable (and even incentivize) men to ejaculate irresponsibly with impunity (which would probably increase the spread STIs), and abandon a bunch of children, forcing the taxpayers to subsidize.
