I'm not entirely sure myself. But I've been doing some research on the subject, because it has relation to a book I'm writing and a dream I once had.

The way I see it, I'm in the search for knowledge. Searching for something requires looking, digging, reading, analyzing, etc. Knowing is the final result.

If someone starts off "knowing", then they never started the search.
