2 Chainz really executed the rebrand well by shouting his name before every verse. Made himself memorable

The method was pioneered by Mike Jones in the mid 2000's who got famous for shouting his name on the track as well as his cell phone number 281 330-8004 which fans could call and talk to him. Then he got into some rap beef with his buddies over at Swishahouse, Chamillionaire put out an entire CD just full of diss tracks against Mike Jones, with the 2nd track being audio of a slave master whipping Mike Jones and forcing him to say his name.

Chamillionaire went on to be an investor and entrepeneur worth tens of millions, Paul Wall went on to partner a business with the king of hip hop jewelry, and Mike Jones got arrogant, burned all his bridges, and became a washed up rapper.

I remember waiting forever for Cham album 3, in fact I’m still waiting. It seemed really likely to drop 2010ish, when he released that song with the Free Falling sample

I’m deleting this app I genuinely can’t stand y’all. I’m not even gonna try to make a point this time I’m done.

The first time I ever heard this was when youtube autoplay put it on as I was in my car nice and toasted off of MXE. When he said "I don't respect my elders" the lyrical content, ostensible proud ignorance, the base, the chopping, and the drugs propelled me into a state of euphoria only attained by HIL when she talks to random white guys that don't give a fuck about her beyond her utility as a sex object.

I miss MXE

What I don't get for artists that have two different stage names : when am I supposed to use which? Like singers who use their full names when they're acting (for instance Childish Gambino/Donald Glover).

Here I wonder when I'm supposed to call him 2Chainz, and when I'm supposed to call him Whoopy Goldberg?

I thought you were going to make a confused reference to the old name Tity Boi, but based

As if pronouns aren't enough of a mess these days. But congrats to him for being able to be on stage and then party all night, and next morning hosting The View.
