After all, what is love if not the opposite of hate and vice-versa. They each exist on the basis of their relation to one another. And for those of you who think I’m just speaking gibberish, you’re wrong. The famous philosopher Augustine stated that evil is simply the privation of good. Similarly hate can be categorized as the privation of love. Thus, hate is just the absence or negation of love. Hate therefore exists only in virtue of loves absence, but nevertheless love must still exist in order to be something which can be absent. The same is true if you switch the terms love and hate in the aforementioned line of reasoning.
