Autism is very different in girls and they tend to develop much better social skills and emotional maturity than males with autism. Her therapist and psychiatrist diagnosed her. Everyone is different. She learned to study people. To interpret expression and tone in order to understand what people want in order to fit in, and not upset people or embarrass herself. It was a coping skill she developed after years of teasing, embarrassment, and no friends. Many women have assimilated so well that they don't flag for autism and get diagnosed with depression, anxiety, BPD, OCD, bipolar and eating disorders instead.
