What propaganda? Where would they hear it? Because they hear the exact opposite from: every TV station, all of Hollywood, the entire education system from kindergarten to postgraduate, all large political parties in the Western world, every tech platform bar none, and any other established entity. Hearing the truth from shitposters on extremely fringe internet forums, in the face of full-spectrum brainwashing from birth, does in fact make one more of a free thinker.

Huh, I guess it never occurred to me that those two were contemporaries. Also why isn't SNL cool like this anymore.

It's absolutely a great parody and it was timely, Budweiser commercials were like that for a long time before they switched over to the guys saying wassuuuuuuuup and the frogs.

But also,

While I don't doubt a lot of SNL skits around that time were quite good, I mean I watched them in real time as well - I used to watch every single weekend during this era. But my general opinion of SNL has been .. it was funny because the rest of the world wasn't as funny.

If you have the inkling, you can go find the audition tapes for the REAL old guard - akroyd, martin, belushi etc --- Dan aykroyds audition was him basically doing "will it blend" with a dead fish. It's just flat-out not funny, but Lorne gave him basically top billing.

MADtv and chappell really killed it as far as sketch comedy, and now people on YouTube dwarf even those shows, but the highlights are still highlights.

I still go back and watch this one pretty often, like at least once a year.

But then the other day I saw this and it made me nearly cry laughing

SNL can still be on this level, it's just you're not going to see it week to week - they have hits, and it'll be a lot easier to look back when you're not in the moment.

I mean, this one was pretty good, I would put it on the level with the Sandler and Farley gay beer commercial.

TL;DR;DW SNL has always been hit or miss, most other sketch comedy has as well, but now there's a ton of people doing it.

You and I could shoot something like this

All them words won't bring your pa back.
