I mean, I understand that there are some ethnic foods that are genuinely weird combinations. For example once when I was in China I tried to eat some ordinary looking stewed meat that turned out to be very sweet and very vinegary, something about that combination made me want to throw up, literally. Interestingly our friends from the Netherlands ate it like nobody's business, I don't trust the Dutch ever since.
