The outrage feels disingenuous. Then again nothing on twitter seems genuine. This policy only comes into play if they have a severe shortage and have to pick and choose who they save. No one is complaining that someone with terminal cancer would not get a ventilator, or a 95 year old. Are we really going to pretend someone who has trouble understanding where they are at the moment is going to have the same quality of life as someone who is fully aware?
None of the outraged crowd is going to be in a position where they are forced to decide who lives and who dies. That leaves them free to say whatever they want, because they will never have to put their money where their mouth is.
this kind of situation happens all the time, more often then people realize. after hurricane katrina there was one hospital where doctors literally ended up euthanizing a bunch of patients that they couldnt evacuate. its sad and cruel but its reality.
I have never listened to a podcast in my life, and I plan on keeping it that way. I don't know why I started making a stand on this, and I'm only continuing because my refusal to listen to them infuriates people.

loool, imagine knowing that FEMA death squads were on the ground targeting minorities, and still not seeing them for what they are.
I looked up that hospital case, and it looks like they all denied euthanizing patients, and because the bodies were baking in 110 degree heat for 10 days before being retrieved, the state had a hell of a time prosecuting any of the medical staff.
So it doesn't look like any hospital supports that course of action, its just something that some doctors did because they panicked.
Don’t they realize that if Alabama was only out to save cognitively normal people, they’d close all their hospitals and send all their doctors out of state?
Pretty sure "persons with severe mental retardation, advanced dementia or severe traumatic brain injury" have very little chance of breeding, so it's not eugenics.

That's triage. What do you expect them to do?

Reminds me of a really good radiolab podcast on triage

How I picture all the handwringers in that thread

It’s sad that a trans furry has to explain triage to all of the stupid people in the replies.
