Maximilien Robespierre was a hero.

"If the spring of popular government in time of peace is virtue, the springs of popular government in revolution are at once virtue and terror: virtue, without which terror is fatal; terror, without which virtue is powerless. Terror is nothing other than justice, prompt, severe, inflexible; it is, therefore, an emanation of virtue; it is not so much a special principle as it is a consequence of the general principle of democracy applied to our country's most urgent needs"
Robespierre was incorruptible when every single member of the Girondin faction were fighting to get the property of the church. Even Danton was trying his hardest to get a single extra sous.
Robespierre knew that terror was necessary in order to keep people in line, especially the sans-culottes.
Despite not being the best speaker, everyone knew that he believed in everything he said. He had the ability to change the views of any audience. He convinced the sans-culottes that radicalism was necessary and they overthrew the weak Girondin faction.
He convinced people that Louis XVI had to die. Louis was a failure of a king. He and his descendants made France corrupt. Robespierre believed that people needed more power. He agreed with the abolishment of the active and passive citizenship during the revolution. He overthrew the monarchy, convinced the masses that terror was necessary, he reformed the country, defeated its enemies and changed the course of history.

...and then he had winemakers executed for bringing him wine he didn't like
Who will I be? How will I live to tell, what I have seen?
Must I endure the hell, that comes with the peace?
What equilibrium of god's own release?
What does it all mean? How can he justify?
How can we breathe? When the stagnancy's choking me?
How can we dream? This nightmare reality?
How do you sleep...at night?

59% of Robesbpierre faction executions were peasants and working class, 70% if you want to include someone that owns a winemaking business, from the university of california irvine
