Because there is an emotional impact from knowing you’re standing where important things happened. Standing in Thingvellir felt awesome in the literal sense of the word, knowing men have been walking that same path for a thousand years - it wasn’t an indescribable experience but it was certainly a powerful one. Similarly Edinburgh where people have lived for 10,000 years or kneeling on the Holy Steps in Rome - regardless of your race or religion there is such an incredible weight of history it’s hard not to feel anything.
Perhaps it’s my overt antisemitism but I don’t think this is on the same level at all. Having been there as well it didn’t feel the same. There was immense pain, suffering, and death there but that’s the case basically anywhere the world over. It’s not a site of monumental events and without the constant guilt we’d already have forgotten it - nobody but historians knows or cares where Mao’s or Stalin’s millions died.
You simp. Okay Homer SIMPson. You absolute simpanzee. OOO OOO OO OO EE EE OO 🐒 <- that is you. You are nothing but sludge . You are putrid muck given form, weakness personified. I am not sympathetic. You are simp pathetic.
Imagine visiting DAT ASS and making it your priority to take a photo with your Auschwitz sticking out on the same bussy that transported millions to their coom.

Why do people say this. It is literally just tracks. With history, but still just tracks. There is no 'indescribable experience'.

Are you American?
2 hoseja 2020-04-17
Sure sounds like. Cracka stepped outside his historical 1970 McMansion for the first time and shat himself.

Could be Australian. The US doesn't really have history, but compared to Australia (unless you count things like Ayers Rock ...)

Genocide and slavery are pretty remarkable.
1 thowaway_throwaway 2020-04-17
Want to know how I know you're American? Hint - it's because you think your own sordid history is in any way remarkable.
1 ConfrontationalKosm 2020-04-17
Bro genocide and slavery are the history of every country in the world

There's Chinese and Eastern Europeans who know or care. But mayos don't often give a toss.
