Given that the Kims have kept a tight hold on power, and the current one has no accepted successor that could step in, I'd expect factions to form in the military under different leaders. So more like African civil wars with lots of warlords.
The scary thing is : what happens to the nukes during that? The USA invests a lot of money and effort in Pakistan just because of that (if the country becomes unstable you'll have their nuclear arsenal floating around).
Also for NK if it turns "Lord of the Flies" there's big chances China will step in forcefully because there's no way they want this shit on their border. South Korea might also at least intervene to avoid the shitshow to reach them (although I guess they'd be more subtle than China).
