Despite everyone telling them how important their work is, they still act like they are underappreciated. In fact it gets even worse because everyone agrees with them that they are under appreciated. At this point I feel like I actually do them a favor if I do not appreciate them, so they can finally at least point at someone who does not tell them all the time how amazing they are.
Despite being paid quite well, they always complain about being underpaid. Well, in the US teachers are actually paid badly. Still, both professions complain about being underpaid all the time. That is quite annoying. You do not hear the same complains from janitors who are paid way less, for example.
They both confuse the importance of their tasks with the importance of their person. Like, sure, teaching kids stuff is important. But you do not need some insane skills to do this. And of course ill people need care beyond the medical knowledge of an actual medical doctor. But it is not like that if you are gone, sick people will die because nobody will bring the food to them. Somebody else could do this just as well. Hell, if absolutely necessary, the doctors could do this, too.
They act like their education is elite level despite being painfully average.
Easy degree, summers off, lots of people want to do it because it's fulfilling, and you get benefits. The lowest-paying states start at 33K, that's fine money for anyone who can budget.
They act like they're underpaid and underappreciated for all their hard work but like... it's a job. The appreciation you get is the money you receive and if that's not high enough just quit. Nobody is making you do this, so nobody should be made to feel in your debt for you just showing up to your job.
What is it with my fellow Millennials and their placing of comic book (sorry, graphic novels) heroes on a pedestal? We truly are the Arrested Development generation and I cannot wait for the Zoomers to yeet us into oblivion.
