A coal powerplant needs hundreds of people to run, windmls need only a handful for maintenance, shared between hundreds of windmills. Even adjusting for energy production, running costs for windmills are a fraction of regular plants. Renewables have other problems. Running costs arent it.

With wind you need natural gas electricity production, which is why the big wind farms are owned by natural gas LNG pipelines or distributors. Coal takes several days to bring online. Natural gas can vary throughout a single day to match the (lack of capacity) of wind.
Nevermind that burning LNG produces 50x the amount of greenhouse gasses than burning coal....
pump storage facilities are a fantasy, storing electricity is not feasible, the losses are insurmountable.
