Kind of - there are lots of articles about this online. Reddit decided to try and track down the bomber and became adamant that the bomber was some random guy who'd been reported missing.
It turns out the guy had already killed himself before Reddit aimed their sights at him, but of course it caused his family a lot of harm.
whenever someone in the news shoots up a place or commits a serious crime and dies in the process or goes to prison, people always find accounts on social media with those same names and send them death threats and harassing messages. people out there are that mouth breathingly stupid.
