So a brief rundown on what dogwhistles are and how they work: In the same way as an actual dogwhistle emits a sound too high-pitched for people to hear but dogs can hear them, a dogwhistle in this sense is a term that means one thing, but only people clued into it know what it means. Frequently used by fascists, it's how they can communicate with eachother in public forums, using irony and innuendo. Dogwhistles often have two meanings, one which is the surface-level meaning and another that you generally need to be made aware of. Examples include the whole "clown world" thing, or Pepe the Frog memes - at the surface they mean one thing, but if you're clued in to their real meaning, they mean "I'm a fascist like you". They are often repeated by people who do not know their real meaning.
