The Immigration and Nationality Act of 1965, signed by the Democrat president Lyndon B Johnson changed immigration from being focused on white Europeans, to allowing Hispanics and Asians. Since 1965, the non Hispanic white population has declined from 90% to around 55%.
"The bill will not flood our cities with immigrants,” lead supporter Sen. Edward “Ted” Kennedy (D-Mass.) told the Senate during debate. “It will not upset the ethnic mix of our society. It will not relax the standards of admission. It will not cause American workers to lose their jobs.” He was wrong on everything obviously.
