Give them what they want. Remove the police.
It can go one of two ways: Utopia achieved, police were never necessary, tax payer dollaridos saved, or it can go the way most people would assume it would go, lesson learned.
Everyone wins either way, the way I see it. Well, except the people that would be left without just about any service as a result of there being no accountability or guarantees.. But hey, it is probably what they wanted anyway. 😎 I am sure they have a plan and not just buzzwords.
I would hope so. It seems unclear what defund means. So far people think of reducing funds and using it for social service programs to reduce crime rates by targettjng at risk areas.
I suppose it sounds like a good experiment...
I just think this particular post is an exaggeration not to mention people are blowjng very few cases and using it as a way to overthrow the police entirely. Not sure 🤔
Well, I actually do agree that targeting low income areas to provide services to combat poverty and provide a path to gainful legal employment is the way to combat black crime, and by extension lower the rate at which black people die due to encounters with the police.
Yeah I am not against trying it out. It would be interesting to attempt to reduce crime through social services rather than just having police react to the crime happening.
I guess my concern is if this will mean less safety because police will be understaffed and overworked. I am also not sure if this will somehow reduce the quality of training.
I also don't agree with the post because it seems to be used as a means to abolish police force entirely. It also reduces the entire police force as being problematic when really it was only a few media sensationalized (rightfully so) cases. I would agree with the more nuances but this post as it is, seems silly.
All for the protest and main message against police brutality but this is insane to assume this is all they do. Don't call the popo next time you get hurt hun.
I do think taking some of the funding for other things is a good idea but seriously tho

So if that is the plan, I guess I support it.

Man I'm so glad I stumbled across this place for my popcorn instead of that place. What the fuck goes on in there is beyond my understanding
