I've been lurking for a couple days here and fuck, I think I've found my people. I've only been going hard for about six months now and already I can see myself forming a life-long habit. I have pretty bad depression that went unacknowledged for years. I tried exercise, I tried eating healthy, and nothing fucking helped. Then I went to college after a pretty sheltered HS experience and I let loose. I drank a ton every day for two years and smoked and that felt ok (it also made me ok with throwing up more then once a week.) Then I settled down a little and started just smoking for a good year or so. Then the weed started making me feel like shit every time I got high. Then I went on a year-long shit trip of snorting adderall and drinking more and more with a shitty ex and now I'm here, 6 months after that ended, with an SO who truly cares about me and a crippling alcohol addiction. Alcohol is the only thing that makes me any semblance happy. It's the only thing that allows me to sleep. My dr knows about my alcoholism but still keeps putting me on antidepressants that don't fucking work with alcohol. I don't know what else to do to be happy. I've tried everything, and this is all that works. So here I am, preparing for this all to get worse. I went from like half a handle a day 2 weeks ago to like 10 beers per day now and every day I find myself drinking more and more beer as my tolerance rises and I miss the vodka more and more. Beer made me gain a shit ton of weight too. I've just resigned myself to the fact that I'm going back to the vodka and this will be my life. With no alternative source of any sort of warmth or happiness in my life this is all I have left. How do you find happiness without alcohol? I'd love to know.
