Power users are butthurt over getting banned. Much popcorn.

There's a huge thread in SRD discussing how several power-users got shadowbanned for vote gaming. It's amazing.

There was a large thread on askreddit where a bunch of these people clustered in their comments, and the swift hand of the admins shadowbanned them for it. I think this is the comment chain in specific that benned the lot of them.

Here is the SRD recap

However, some of the power users have showed up to defend themselves, and it's not looking pretty for any of them. /u/anal_queen got unbanned, and Jewboy is using an alt.

voila, here's one of thems alt, I think jewboy's

Here's jewboy on his own subreddit bitching about SB'ing

Here's Anal_queen passing the blame elsewhere. It's like watching TIR get busted all over again

this is AS86 reaching out to a couple of benned people

AS86 is floating around that entire thread. There's prolly something amiss, though I think he's just handing out tissues for karmawhore's issues.

Definition of things so far for newcomers

As an explanation for newcomers, here's the breakdown:

Shadowbanning is when you get banned for actually fucking up one of Reddit's few absolute rules: No spamming, doxxing, vote gaming, posting CP, or really pissing off the admins. Or something. I don't know what the fifth rule is but I'm fairly sure that's how PIMA got destroyed a few months ago.

Vote-gaming is when people use artificial means to get karma, and therefore to get noticed. This usually ties into spamming, as people are forcing their stuff to be seen not based on quality, but based on other means. There's a few websites that show how to catch reddit's interest so you can boost your website/ product, so I'm pretty sure that's a reason this rule is in place.

Vote-gaming can be achieved by using bots, or by asking for upvotes in things like modmail, private subreddits, the like. As what likely happened here, all those power-users got caught funking around on the same askreddit thread, which according to Anal Queen was coordinated by someone else.

What's a power user/ karmawhore, you ask? I consider the two to be similar, but different things. A power user is a prominent user who is on and around reddit often, and has a large amount of karma from submitting and posting a lot. People like /u/syncretic are power users, modding a lot of stuff, posting a lot of stuff.

Karmawhores are people that post a lot of shit for the sake of karma, often in the form of inane comments and quick jokes on early threads in default subreddits and hoping that it gets upvoted. As such, they often have easy to remember names that usually call attention to themselves. Everyone likes being in on a joke, so people will always upvote/ comment with them a lot.

As a result, most askreddit threads are filled with bland stuff by karmawhores and the subsequent comments for about a certain period until an account gets banned (ala Potato_in_my_anus), bored (IamaWhaleSexologist), ran out (Trapped in reddit), or just ignored (apostolate. I hope. )

TL:DR, Butthurt.
