Famous Hearthstone player MagicAmy may be a fraud! Cue /r/hearthstone shit storm in 4,3,2...

Greetings, traveler.

I will try to post as much as I can find about this without straying into dox territory - just be warned if you want to post some other stuff about this that there was some doxxing going on so be careful what you decide to post on reddit.

tl;dr up front: Famous Hearthstone streamer "MagicAmy" has been accused of fraud - that the girl who ends up in pictures and voice calls is just some chick while a guy is actually doing all of the video gaming and used her pretty face to get followers.

Before the beginning: A lead up to the accusation probably starts here, where MagicAmy is "unable to attend" yet another tournament due to sudden unforeseen problems.

The beginning: The OP post was deleted. It is on undelete - but I am not going to post the undelete thread here because it was removed for doxxing. There is a twitter link with some real names involved. So if you want to go find the original post do it, but I can't post it.

The current epic mega thread on /r/hearthstone - mods deleted all of the threads and combined into this thing due to "doxxing concerns." If you scroll through you'll find a lot of discussion and also bitching by users that mods deleted content without merging the known information together. Grumble grumble grumble.

Some more details: For those of you who don't play Hearthstone, MagicAmy has been a prominent figure for a while, especially known for her game meta analysis reports which I myself love, and so do a ton of other people. She was on Tempo Storm as well, one of the most widely known professional Hearthstone teams.

But the kicker? No one has ever seen MagicAmy play in person. She has posted some videos and pictures and people have done voice chats with her, but no live game streaming of any kind. She has repeatedly turned down invitations to tournaments. Some other fellow professionals started getting suspicious, which has lead to accusations and the drama unfolding now.

The basics of the accusation are that a guy (some Canadian last time I read the theories) is actually doing all of MagicAmy's gameplay. She is simply there as a cute girl - let's face it, being a female streamer is infinitely easier to get followers than a male just playing the number's game. Add on the fact that MagicAmy was actually GOOD at the game rather than just dicking around for attention, well...there we go.

But wait, there's more: Drama outside the game you say? This guy details how he had some sort of relationship with MagicAmy that involved quite a bit of spending money, until she moved on to another guy.

And another man steps forward with a similar story in which she "borrowed" money from him that was never paid back.

As of me writing there isn't too much new info out there. As I said there have been some details released on twitter and elsewhere that I don't feel comfortable posting here due to doxxing concerns. But rest assured this will be buttery popcorn in /r/hearthstone for quite a while...

Final thoughts: I think this is all hilarious. What I would find more hilarious is if everyone is wrong. If it turns out MagicAmy is a real person playing on her own then the backlash the community is going to get from the female gaming community will be INTENSE. But to be honest at this point I'm leaning toward her being a fraud. Time will tell, maybe.
