So maybe you guys can help me because I can't figure out exactly what the hell this multiple subreddit spanning drama is about.

So far it looks like a roommate dispute. The girl in question called the police and reported that her basil plant was poisoned and tried to press charges because of something to do with a missing cutting board. Now her roommates are leaving incredibly passive aggressive notes and locking their dishes up. The part that seems so absurd to me is the massive outpouring of support for the girl that called the cops about a basil plant. Am I missing part of the story or is it just a bunch of 18 year old engineering students white knighting? What the fuck is all this talk about title IX and bullying?
