So Goldsmith is a hoity toity college in England. They have student union groups for things like feminism/lgbtpeople/whatever.

Due to the sweeping Islamophobia grasping Europe following the refugee crisis / terrorist attacks Goldsmith's Feminist Society released a statement declaring that they are in complete solidarity with Goldsmith's Islam Society.

Normally a student union doing something like this would be total non-news but it seems to have opened a huuuuge can of worms that many feminist circles can't easily reconcile and the ensuing shit show is totes fab.

The shit really hit the fan, however, when the Goldsmith's LGBT Society followed suit and also called for solidarity with the Islam Society.

The response can only be referred to as a shit show.

The Goldsmith's LGBT Society FB page is littered with ridicule and teeth gnashing over the decision. Keep in mind that they are baleeting everything as fast as they can and have been doing so for many days.

The LGBT community is basically in an uproar.

Apparently a refugee crisis ain't enough to stir the hearts of a community that they spent hundreds of years stoning to death.

In reaction to the backlash Goldsmith's LGBT Society announced what was essentially "Free speech is evil and y'all are probs totes racist. This did nothing but make everyone even more mad and even Richard fucking Dawkins got involved in the situation because he doesn't have anything else to do

Here is just the tag for Goldsmith's - it's just people bitching about how ridiculous this entire situation is.

It gets even better! After Goldsmith's LGBT/Feminist Societies announced their solidarity with the Goldsmith's Islamic Society it is discovered that the president of the Goldsmith's Islamic Society had tweeted this crazy shit about how "homosexuality is a disease of the heart and the mind."

He totes resigned from his presidency of the Goldsmith's Islamic Society

This is on-going, and there is no real end in sight as the LGBT/Feminist Society have released no statement pertaining to the comments made by the ex-president of the Islamic society, which is basically just making this shit show even more shit show-ey.
