A while back I posted some Drama Club drama. Update: More drama.

I'll link to my other post when I get off mobile but we finally got through all of our performances of Peter Pan. It was amazing and beautiful and everything I could have hoped for.

After the final performance our director calls all of us and the parents to the stage. We all circle around her and she tells us that this is her last production.

She's an AP teacher and the best one in our school, but the education system in Georgia is pretty garbage (thanks Nathan Deal) and more and more requirements are necessary and she can no longer be a part of our club without a drama class or some funding or even rehearsal space.

We pay for everything ourselves and make all of our own costumes. When our school was built a couple of years ago they had the option of building a auditorium, but instead built a giant useless dome on the top of the school which then was struck by lightening and is now an eyesore. Our director has to pay out of pocket for us to practice in the local theater.

This sucks. She took over drama in 2009 and has worked very hard to have things change, but nothing has. She's done all she can do but we members have not.

Monday we are all wearing our costumes to school and I will be making flyers to pass out with the information needed for our student body to call or write their district school board member. We are working on making ACT NOW, SAVE OUR DRAMA CLUB! shirts. Thespians are submitting to our newspapers, of whom we do have support and we are going to do everything in our power to keep this club alive. It means so much to all of us. We may have it out sometimes but we love each other and we ARE a family.

Does anyone have any other ideas for something we can do? Has anyone else been in a similar situation? Is there any hope?
