And because I actually know how this works
My ex-wife and I got married pretty young, when she was 21 and I was 23. The marriage lasted 2 years and then we got divorced. It wasn't the prettiest divorce, but we don't hate each other or anything. Since we have no kids and were married for such a short time, we don't have hardly any contact now. However, we still have a lot of mutual friends. Our contact consists of seeing each other at Christmas parties, or birthdays, or really just any large gathering.
My current girlfriend and I have been together for 3 years. I am very much in love with her and our relationship is great. She knows all about my ex and has even met her once. Well, we recently moved in to a new apartment together. This, coupled with the fact that my girlfriend just got a great new job, called for a party. I invited all of my friends, she invited all of hers, it was a very big affair.
My ex is now dating an old friend of mine. He brought her to the party. I was very surprised to see her, but I didn't want to be rude and kick her out, plus I figured they wouldn't stay long. My girlfriend, however, was pissed as hell. She demanded I kick her out and said she didn't want my ex in our home. Like I said here, I told her that was incredibly rude and my ex wasn't making a scene, so I wasn't going to, either.
Well, my girlfriend is still very pissed. She says I disrespected and embarrassed her for allowing my ex into our home for what was supposed to be a celebration of our lives together. I don't think what happened was really that bad. Did I really fuck up so horribly, or is she overreacting?
tl;dr: My ex-wife "crashed" a party hosted by my girlfriend and me. My gf is now pissed that I allowed it to happen and says I disrespected her.
