Two Turtle Doves - The tale of the allegedly fake $1700 sneakers and the store that sold them.

The saga begins about 6 weeks ago when our young victim /u/intensetrash26 visits sneaker consignment shop Kolorblind in San Diego, CA. On his visit he finds a pair of Yeezy Boost 350 Turtle Dove shoes and believing them to be an authentic pair shells out a whopping $1700 for the shoes.

A few weeks pass with his prized new kicks and IT26 decides to wash them with a specialized shoe cleaning/protection product. Shortly after the cleaning process he notices that the color from the inside of the shoes starts to leak and he makes a post to reddit asking if his shoes are fakes.

As you can see in the thread, the afficianados at /r/sneakers are quick to tell him his shoes are fakes. IT26 believes his fellow redditors and then contacts the consignment shop demanding a refund.

He then makes another post detailing his story and asking for advice on what he should do about it. He also posts a picture of himself outside of the store that the store owners had posted to their Instagram.

As reddit gets a hold of the story the consignment shop deletes the picture of the kid in front of the store goes into damage control on Instagram deleting user inquiries as well as an older post with a picture of the allegedly fake turtle doves going on sale.

One user in /r/sneakers foreshadows what is to come of this poor business decision..

Sure enough, a sneaker news site pics up the story and the downfall begins.

Their yelp page plunges to 1 stars.

The store responds to the Sneaker News story claiming the shoes are authentic, that the kid bought the shoes 38 days earlier, and that he must have done something to damage the shoes.

Quote from the article to save you a click...

On September 11, 2016, Mathias came into Kolorblind Shoes with his mother and purchased a Brand New DeadStock 100% Authentic Adidas Yeezy Boost 350 Turtle Dove for $1,728 after taxes.

38 Days later (October 19th), he calls up the store and says, “I just had the Yeezy’s legit checked and they came back false.” I replied with, “let me give you my personal number and we will get this straightened out asap.” Later that day I called and told him to stop by on Monday with the shoes so we can start the process.

When he arrived at the store today, he presented the shoes and I knew then, something else was going on. The shoes have been worn numerous times and appeared to have some substance dropped on them that he ineffectively tried to clean ruining the uppers of the shoes. As the Store Manager for the last 2+ years and an avid sneaker enthusiast for the past 14+ years, this was not the same shoe we sold him 38 Days earlier.

Our first goal as a business is customer satisfaction. In this impossible situation, we decided to offer a store credit of $1,000 and just eat the loss, for which they declined. After we declined to refund at that point, they started to get upset. We get it though, everyone is looking for a come up at someone else’s expense, we just decided not to lay down this time and take it. This bait and switch routine happens all the time and as the business, we never get a fair shake. We are here for the people, to help them get done what they don’t have time for, nothing more.

As the story continues to develop another reddit user goes by their shop and lo and behold it appears they are cleaning house and skipping town.
