Ban for misidentified movie reference in /r/Canada

My first drama post...
Someone replies to my relatively serious comment with two consecutive "What?"'s but then I reply with the quote from the probably most famous dialog sequence from a movie.
The guy didn’t get it and he thought I was insane.
Next thing I know, I’m banned from /r/Canada
By the way, the thread is about media pontification over Halloween partygoers at Queen’s University here in Canada accused of being racist for dressing up in stereotypical clothes from a country they were assigned for the party. Most people reject idea that it is racist. I personally think it’s hilarious as it does touch upon current political climate with creativity.
The thread is a wreck with not even 50 comments but this segment went to ditch too fast
