I dunno how their insurance company works, but I'm pretty they'd expect that money to go directly to working on the films too, so they can't just "give it away". It's like when I worked insurance, if we would pay someone out sometimes they would make a smartarse comment about going on holiday (instead of fixing their house WTF) and I'm like "You understand I could refuse to give you money now, right?"
I'm also assuming she probably had a life insurance policy. I guess her daughter will be a greedy whore if she tries to claim on that.
