Africa always sucked. Sucking is the default state of human affairs. The only unusual thing is that, for the past 50 years or so, the west has not sucked. And even that may be going away soon. Don't blame white people for how fucked up Africa is when they haven't ran the show in decades.
In as much as they had shitloads of gold, which of course has no inherent value, which they demonstrated by giving away so much of it in Europe on a visit that they causer runaway inflation due to an expansion of the money supply...

The "bechdel test" also comes from a shitty indie comic that was basically a webcomic before there were webcomics. It was a single panel joke but the way social justice types invoke it you'd think it came from the writings of Durkheim himself.
