Apparently being blatantly insulting is "independent and irreverent" now. Drama should have a news site.
They believe he plays basketball they just want a picture of him playing. He started a congressional pickup game and deadspin is amused by the idea of Ted Cruz playing basketball. The image he linked is some college player that looks vaguely like Ted Cruz. He was making a joke.

At first I felt sorry for them, I thought it was ignorance and passion. Now I really don't.
