Netflix's original programming is disgustingly average, not great, not terrible, but just sort of entertaining, I expect this to be the same, their content is best to just have on in the background while shitposting
I feel the same way I felt on prom night when Brandy said she was gonna give me a blowjob but then it turned out she just wanted to laugh at how small it was :(

Sad! Well we could ping two day old novelty account /u/PrayForBowlingGreen from that thread to cheer you up. Seems like a funny name/guy.
Sorry Jumbled, I honestly forgot. Pretty sure it was just more of the same "Black people would kidnap and torture 20 more white tards if they were ever lectured about their behavior by Netflix" type stuff.
/u/captmotorcycle is just testy because he didn't get a lot of sleep. Pa' was banging his sister all night while screaming "roll tide!" There are a lot of hardships redneck trash like him have to go through in life that us out of touch elitists just can't relate to
it is if it impacts a good night of sleep! Sucks when you're all groggy wheeling mee'maw down to the post office to collect her welfare check. I'm sure /u/captmotorcycle has enough on his plate shooting broken tv's on the lawn, trying to not burn down the shed when his one bottle cook method goes awry, chasing possums out their common sleeping area, finding the pontiac keys under the mountains of trash on the ground, ect. Shit isn't easy out there for white trash hillbillies!
I wouldn't say it sucked, but it had obvious flaws. Most notably, it took 13 episodes to tell an 8 episode story.
If they had cut the number of episodes and adjusted the pacing accordingly, it would've been a solid series. As it is, it draaaaaaaaaaaaags in the second act.
What's the point of the Netflix model if they're gonna stick to conventions like defining a "season" as ~13 episodes?
See: Shooter (although tbf that was a joint production with ABC).
At around the 3 episode mark I was like "yeah this is okay. Not perfect or whatever but I'm not expecting Shakespeare, and it's only got a couple of episodes left" and then they spend the next 10 episodes doing their best to pad it out as much as possible, only to have one of the most underwhelming episodes ever.
Beginning of the first season starts as a mildly witty comedy about a washed up actor, pretty standard stuff. By the end of the first season you will realize that the show is about a narcissistic self-destructive sociopath that is slowly ruining the lives of everyone around him in attempts to better himself in the guise of a comedy. There are some incredibly heavy episodes throughout the series so if you are looking for a good gut punch to go along with your comedy then I would at least finish the 1st season.
It's probably the best serious look at clinical depression on TV. The jokes - particularly the gags about the animal people - get pretty good too, but the show's real strength is in it's serious look at habitual self-destructive behavior.
The first season was decent and after that it went nut job tumblrina bullshit.
People complained about Seth MacFarlane using Brian to shove liberal bullshit down people's throats. Bojack horseman used that shitty Diana character to do it even more.
Nah seems more like Diane is being shaped into the righteous hero of fighting oppression and Mr.Peanut Butter is her evil patriarchal oppressor she will help take down while working for the shows version of buzz feed.
Also I can't remember the episodes for the first two season, but the third season with the forming horsing around kid OD'ing was so painfully obvious it was going to happen that it had no emotional payoff.
What? I mean, sure, he has conflicts like every other character, but he resolves them in a mature and emotionally stable way. That's what makes him different from the rest of the cast, except maybe Todd.
I don't get Bojack fans trying to make him out to be secretly dark and depressed. That's missing the point. His virtuous nature is meant to highlight the self destructive nature of the rest of the cast. He's what they could be, but aren't.
You are reading way too far into that. I just meant that he had some flaws, but they're minor in comparison to the other characters. He tends to bury his head in the sand rather than face a problem like with his brother, but that's a very common problem among normal people so it's not a major character flaw like the rest of the characters have. He also ignores good advice but that's because he's a bit of an airhead.
Sorry if your shitty show with boring characters and lame strawmen that represent the opposite of any political viewpoint the show runners have isn't considered good to people with standards. "Omg a horse that has sex, swears all the time and does drugs? Soooo edgy and cool!"
I really don't get where this shit comes from. I keep hearing people talk about how Netflix shows aren't that great. Stranger Things was damned good, Narcos is fucking amazing, and while it's not my favorite show Orange is the New Black, and House of Cards are both well done shows that get a ton of hype. Their Marvel lineup is the best out there right now. Daredevil is one of the few times where watching a blind man get his ass kicked has given me an erection. Jessica Jones was decent too if only for David Tennets performance. Bojack Horseman has been considered genious in a lot of circles. F is for Frank is a pretty solid animated show. Love is some of Gillian Jacobs best work.
Sure, there are some legit shit shows from Netflix, but their big brand shows are awesome. And they have a great lineup.
I mean damn name one fucking network that has more recognizable shows than Netflix right now. Most of those shit heaps have two or maybe three good shows and the rest is just gas releasing from their dead-whale-on-the-beach carcasses. FX or AMC maybe?
FX releases enough to sate my appetite, but Better Call Saul, Veep, Silicon Valley and Rick and Morty are also pretty incredible, when you compare Netflix to that kind of stuff it's just pretty good
Yeah but you're taking shows from what, 3 networks, to make that list? Sure if the fight is Netflix vs the best of everything else it won't come out as the best.
My point is why watch Netflix when there's a dozen other shows that are better than anything they produce, and the answer to that is Netflix is convenient to have on in the background while you're shitposting
Flush your million dollar budget away Netflix. I literally can't not watch this particular program, or even just cancel my subscription if I want to have a proper shitfit. This is worse than 100 9/11s.
It's a satire and not nearly as hamfisted as people would think, the main character is portrayed as right in some aspects by kind of an asshole in others who uses her confrontational nature to mask her identity issues. It's an alright movie overall.
I don't see the big deal of this show. Yeah, it looks shitty, but let the ratings decide. Why a retarded petition to remove it?
On the other hand, I get why white people may be miffed. It's always annoying when you get called out on racism and other groups don't. Yall know "Dear Black People..." involving a trailer where black dudes hang around a 7/11, gang rape a woman, then suffer from diabetes at a free clinic would not fly.
It's a shame that equality is such a hard road. Honestly, make both shows and let the masses decide which is funnier, imo
IMO considering the level of divisiveness right now in the country, this title was probably one of the poorest titles they could pick. It's guaranteed to get people angry.
Kinda agree with you that it's not that simple but I'm not totally wrong. Go back to the time when the movie was launched and I don't recall any big controversy.
Right now, everyone is way more organised, be it alt-right or left wingers.
Guess the problem is that the title "Dear White People" is less associated with the movie and more with that infamous Dear White Guys-skit MTV parped out at the end of 2016.
It's also guaranteed to get way more publicity, which is the point. I probably wouldn't have even heard of the show had it not been for people complaining the title.
I don't give a fuck about a show I have no interest in watching, but I think some people are making assumptions based on the writer tweeting things like 'fuck white people, no seriously fuck white people'
I mean, I dunno maybe it is supposed to be satire but I can see why some people are getting ideas.
Plus, people bitch and moan about offensive shows/comments and routinely get media personalities fired and shows canned so this isn't really anything new.

n/a snallygaster 2017-02-09

Honestly think the movie would get more outrage too if it was not so small budget.
n/a snallygaster 2017-02-09

I don't give a fuck about a show I have no interest in watching, but I think some people are making assumptions based on the writer tweeting things like 'fuck white people, no seriously fuck white people'
I mean, I dunno maybe it is supposed to be satire but I can see why some people are getting ideas.
Plus, people bitch and moan about offensive shows/comments and routinely get media personalities fired and shows canned so this isn't really anything new.
