1890's still had US imperialism in Latin America and the Phillipines with Spanish-American War. Which was started by one news paper. Before and during the US nationalism was increasing, and prevented/lessened revolutions/major labor strikes that were happening in Europe at the same time.
In the late 20s and 30s, FDR, is not often given credit for easing the working class out of revolution. The concessions and work programs put forth by his administration contributed greatly to the pacifying of the working class.
The real question, was why did no revolution happen in the 60's early 70's?
Seeing the State become even stronger, and more opressive and the propaganda come out really shines a light in that, but certainly not the only reason. Reliance on credit, and the myth of the "American Dream" divided the working class in a way that prevent ed any left-opposition from really materializing beyond a few groups. This division of the working class worked so well, the average person is not concious of the system and is more than content.
