I really appreciate all the unwarranted transphobic comments, but I'm not trans, myself, thanks. Really shows where your heart is at. I've seen all this nonsense happen before, by the way and I'm curious, by this point do even you realize that you're on the wrong-side of history, and that future generations would look back at the sort of sentiments you're expression as some great shame, or terrible flaw with their ancestors, or do you actually believe such small minded bigotry is going to remain in fashion indefinitely? You hang around enough people who "ironically" roleplay as bigots because it seems like a good laugh and before you know it you're ass deep in posters who aren't doing it ironically, and you realize that all the great meta laughs you thought you were having were actually in a crowd of actual white supremacists/homophobes/what have you.
Not really, social trends and liberalism/conservatism swing back and forth, often quite extremely. Europe, while quite liberal for the last few decades is now swinging toward the conservative side of the spectrum. Any intelligent observer of history would realize this...
Oh I know it's anything but a unstoppable march forward, we're definitely in a back-lash period right now for instance, but even with that LGBT rights are still a popular issue with a majority of people and it's difficult to see that collapsing at this point. The more exposure these issues get, the more support they seem to get, and the less supportive the general population becomes of attacking rights already granted to LGBT people.
My own guess is that the Trump administration, or whatever he leaves behind won't make any move on same-sex marriage for instance being that as of 2013 we crossed the 50% threshold of general support for that issue, and gay and lesbian people are now just far too normalized and humanized in the eyes of the American public. Attacking that would be political suicide, and even should Pence wind up in the presidency he and his congress would surely have to recognize that.
