There was a survey made in lebanon on syrian refugees there and a tiny tiny majority of them supports Assad, but not because they like him. Also keep in mind that there are a huge amount of internal refugees in syria, so coastal pro-gov areas are extremely over crowded. That would lead me to believe that a lot of them are escaping rebels.
