I once posted animal gore in /r/gore and people called me a piece of shit. This is the same people who laugh at people being tortured and dying in agony, mind you.
Not too many people care about eating flesh but take the animal fat of half a cow to produce 329 million ยฃ5 notes and people think the Bank of England is literally Hitler
I don't know why this is the case either as someone who has a similar reaction to gore. I can pretty easily get through nearly every video posted to death subreddits and have subscribed to /r/watchpeopledie for years, but if an animal is even getting tortured I feel really upset and often stop watching.
I'm not trying to beat you up over this, but if you don't think watching a human being (especially a child) suffering or being murdered is a million times more traumatic than seeing an animal hurt, then you legitimately have issues. I'd say you have some sort of deep-seated hatred or hostility toward people in general.
See, there's the thing, I actually really love other people and humanity as a whole and possess a high level of cognitive empathy even if the effective empathy isn't there. Not idea why.
Not true. There's a lot of fields or situations where having low effective empathy is actually incredibly useful as it allows you to minimize stress and empathy fatigue that might be found in certain environments such as hospitals. I'd rather be able to understand why someone might feel a certain way and act while my mind remains on an island. That's something that's been very useful in my life, although an important downside is that surrounding myself with happy and positive people does little to improve the way I usually feel.

People like you are ignorant because people like you believe an incessant aimless cynicism is some kind of wisdom or maturity. You don't know any more about reality than anyone else, and you insistence to equate reality as a whole to only certain violent events just shows you are nothing but an edgy idiot.
You can't fit me in your narrow black/white mind view, sorry m8. I'm not proclaiming it to be wisdom, I'm just calling you sheltered. Again, you won't understand.
I mean I wouldn't say you're a piece of shit, but I kind of get where they're coming from. I can watch some guy get his brains pulled out through his ass and not bat an eye but the second someone accidentally kicks a dog or something I get all creeped out and feel gross.
I suppose I've rationalized it as animals, not knowing right and wrong, are inherently innocent. They know nothing but survival. Humans? We've all sinned.
I have no idea, man. Maybe I've just desensitized myself. I can't really provide a solid explanation for it. Sure, it probably makes me a horrible human, but I don't exactly have a reason why.

To know how you look when you check out for the last time. Also to learn to be a defensive driver and putting a seat belt so there is something positive.
Because it's the most significant, mysterious event in anyone's life, the idea of death to most people is reserved for romanticised movies and over the top video games but people are blind to what it's actually like, it's fascinating if anything
Honestly, this is one of the least brutal murders I've seen online. It went so smooth and clean. The ones where people cut someones neck open while he continues to breath loudly are brutal.
Well my ancestors massacred 3 roman legions in the teutoburg forest in 9ad so yeh I guess they would be smiling...but on the other hand my immediate ancestors lost 2 world wars so maybe they are just kind of grimacing at me.
I wouldn't say someone is sheltered for simply not understanding why there are people on Reddit that enjoy watching gruesome deaths. I'd say it's safe to say that most people don't really expect to find stuff like that on here and it's understandable that they'd be appalled by it. I know when I first saw that sub I myself uttered the phrase "What the fuck?" before returning to my regularly scheduled shit lording in my subs of choice. I normally would've wondered why that sub wasn't already shut down but it's not a surprise that it hasn't when this site hosts subs like /r/spacedicks and /r/gore. Different strokes for different folks and l that shit, right?
I dunno, could be something having to do with how their communities interact with others but I can't really say. Never bothered to take part in those subs beyond discovering them and making a mental note not to visit them.
lol. Yeah, most people don't have morbid curiosity to the point where they routinely seek out videos to watch people die horribly and in agony, Chief. Maybe once or twice, sure, but then they're generally, you know, kind of repulsed at watching someone die horrifically and decide to stop seeking out that shit. There's nothing "sheltered" about finding videos of people being beheaded gross - it's not normal to find that shit actively entertaining like many of the people in that sub, full stop.
With that said, no one needs to "close that shit". Just don't click the link, it's not difficult. Let the weirdos enjoy watching people die if that floats their boat.
Some of us who lurk use it to help with PTSD. Not everyone's PTSD responds to exposure therapy, but my flashbacks have gone way, way down thanks to WPD. Being able to pause, rewind, and dissect a traumatic scenario also helps with the hyperawareness. I'm not sure if "enjoy" is quite the right word, but there's more to WPD than the tasteless jokes, and in my eyes at least one very good reason not to censor it or condemn its existence.
I don't have PTSD but, when I watch some horrible video on wtd I usually feel like shit for a while afterwards. When that initial feeling goes away I feel better than I did before I watched it. It's therapeutic for me to watch something that makes me feel bad every now and again.
I am talking about like a few times a month in my case.
Functional, happy, and successful with the right therapies? Absolutely possible. Normal? I never had that potential, and grew up with PTSD. But the world needs people who can confront horrendous life situations without succumbing to them in one way or another. My treatment protocol includes finding situations and jobs in which PTSD symptoms are an asset: taking sexual assault disclosures, indexing and hearing testimonies of men and women raped as an instrument of war, uncovering historic accounts of domestic violence, and wildlife photography. (Hey, it's not all doom and gloom.)
I'd rather I have to research this stuff and use it for good, than someone normal who would be terribly affected by it - or someone whose PTSD is exacerbated by it. All I have to do to use it for my benefit is mitigate the dysfunctional aspects of PTSD. WPD is a small part of that arsenal, and far from the worst of the things I hear about and have seen in person to be frank.
only an edgelord would watch something like that for 'entertainment', it's not entertaining, it's not meant to be, it's more of a fascination or wanting to know what the world is actually like outside of Facebook and airbrushed TV news
I have sexual fantasies involving Asian women and cat ears that haven't fulfilled yet. So, im sorry but im gonna have to pass on your recommendation on the account that i still have things to do.
Do not link to our sub in ANY drama subreddits. Linking to any of our posts on a drama-centric sub will result in a ban. Examples of such subs include /r/drama and /r/subredditdrama. This rule also applies to SRS-style subreddits.
I'm pretty sure it's because they don't want to be quarantined like gore and whatnot and they see drama linking as bringing undesired attention from people who are going to wring their hands and get all morally outraged.
How about you don't act like a spastic retard when you don't know shit about the sub.
A huge portion of the videos are basically crossposts from combatfootage and WTF. A large portion of them are cell phone recordings of CCTV footage of car accidents and similar where you can't see anyone die. A very small percentage of the videos are actually people dying in a gruesome manner with close-up footage. And most of those videos are ISIS videos or Mexican gang cartel videos where most comments are basically 'fuck these guys'. People regularly request that videos of terrorists getting wrecked get special tags applied so they can see bad guys get their just deserts.
And the modteam there is one of the best I've ever seen on reddit in my five years here. They contribute to the sub and constantly interact with subs constantly in a very friendly manner and take input to heart.
Different sub, but this video was posted to both WPD and militarygfys and represents mod stances on such things.
srsly though... the only really 'gruesome' videos are ISIS or Mexican cartel videos. Avoid that shit unless you have a really hard stomach. The majority are relatively low-res car accident vids that you might see on TV or some low-res CCTV suicide vids.
If you want some real drama, there was a video a month or two ago of some incel sympathizing with some rapist who was shot by police. The incel came into the thread and was like 'well what if the guy got rejected by a bunch of women and had no choice but to rape?'
That's definitely fair. They attract a good number of shitheads in there. I'm pretty sure they just view cross-linking as a dangerous move that might get them quarantined. I've definitely seen stuff I wanted to drama-link as well but I really like the mod team there so I don't.

n/a grafton29 2017-03-05
Why are those fucking subs still open? Close that shit.
n/a randomthrowawaiii 2017-03-05
Morbid curiosity, it's completely human. You must live a very sheltered life.
n/a FrostBittenSalsa 2017-03-05
Different strokes for different folks and l that shit, right?
n/a Quizlop 2017-03-05
What I don't understand is why /r/gore and /r/spacedicks are quarantined, but /r/watchpeopledie isn't.
n/a FrostBittenSalsa 2017-03-05
I dunno, could be something having to do with how their communities interact with others but I can't really say. Never bothered to take part in those subs beyond discovering them and making a mental note not to visit them.
n/a BashfulHandful 2017-03-05
Let the weirdos enjoy watching people die if that floats their boat.
n/a randomthrowawaiii 2017-03-05
Don't you feel embarrassed talking like this?
n/a I_smell_like_bacon 2017-03-05
As a 1/64 Mi'qmaq, I am offended tbqh.

Some of us who lurk use it to help with PTSD. Not everyone's PTSD responds to exposure therapy, but my flashbacks have gone way, way down thanks to WPD. Being able to pause, rewind, and dissect a traumatic scenario also helps with the hyperawareness. I'm not sure if "enjoy" is quite the right word, but there's more to WPD than the tasteless jokes, and in my eyes at least one very good reason not to censor it or condemn its existence.
n/a hotblondeboob 2017-03-05
I don't have PTSD but, when I watch some horrible video on wtd I usually feel like shit for a while afterwards. When that initial feeling goes away I feel better than I did before I watched it. It's therapeutic for me to watch something that makes me feel bad every now and again.
I am talking about like a few times a month in my case.
n/a randomthrowawaiii 2017-03-05
Is someone with PTSD a normal person?
Discuss
n/a theRagingEwok 2017-03-05
Yeah. It is a mental problem but most PTSD sufferers live normal lives.
n/a Ardvarkeating101 2017-03-05
If you don't mind me asking, did you get it while serving?
n/a theRagingEwok 2017-03-05
I don't have PTSD.
n/a BigYearColorado 2017-03-05
WPD is a small part of that arsenal, and far from the worst of the things I hear about and have seen in person to be frank.
n/a ComedicPause 2017-03-05
People like that sub just like people like watching Saw movies. No need to be a cunt about it.
n/a eroticdiscourse 2017-03-05
only an edgelord would watch something like that for 'entertainment', it's not entertaining, it's not meant to be, it's more of a fascination or wanting to know what the world is actually like outside of Facebook and airbrushed TV news
n/a Itstheusual 2017-03-05
Kys. And film it.

n/a mairedemerde 2017-03-05
What are your reasons for wanting them closed?
n/a hotblondeboob 2017-03-05
Why are you asking for something you don't enjoy to be censured? Don't watch it if you don't want to.
n/a grafton29 2017-03-05
I don't want it to be censored. I want it off the website.

Some people just want to be left alone
n/a Thuc382 2017-03-05
I'm pretty sure it's because they don't want to be quarantined like gore and whatnot and they see drama linking as bringing undesired attention from people who are going to wring their hands and get all morally outraged.
n/a E_G_Never 2017-03-05
Are there any drama subs besides here and srd?
n/a dis_is_my_account 2017-03-05
What happens if we link every thread to here?
n/a asdjfweaiv 2017-03-05
Since when is Trumptards brigading a thread "drama"?
n/a YourGayOpinion 2017-03-05
Islam
n/a freet0 2017-03-05
hold on, does that mean I can lock any thread on that sub just by linking it here?
n/a Nomadlads 2017-03-05
r/Relationships is better. You can get a post deleted by linking to it on any sub.
n/a going_for_a_wank 2017-03-05
Who was it that made the bot to automatically link every /r/relationships post? That was pretty funny.
n/a Thuc382 2017-03-05
Different sub, but this video was posted to both WPD and militarygfys and represents mod stances on such things.
n/a freet0 2017-03-05
holy shit dude lmao
n/a Thuc382 2017-03-05
srsly though... the only really 'gruesome' videos are ISIS or Mexican cartel videos. Avoid that shit unless you have a really hard stomach. The majority are relatively low-res car accident vids that you might see on TV or some low-res CCTV suicide vids.
If you want some real drama, there was a video a month or two ago of some incel sympathizing with some rapist who was shot by police. The incel came into the thread and was like 'well what if the guy got rejected by a bunch of women and had no choice but to rape?'
n/a freet0 2017-03-05
what the fuck are you even talking about?
n/a Thuc382 2017-03-05
I made some assumptions about your 'holy shit dude lmao'. I presumed you were like 'what the fuck is thuc382 talking about... what an aspie'.
n/a freet0 2017-03-05
yeah pretty much
n/a Thuc382 2017-03-05
I'm a bit confused as to your position on watchpeopledie I must admit. Care to clarify?
n/a freet0 2017-03-05
their anti drama rule makes me want to fuck with them
n/a Thuc382 2017-03-05
That's definitely fair. They attract a good number of shitheads in there. I'm pretty sure they just view cross-linking as a dangerous move that might get them quarantined. I've definitely seen stuff I wanted to drama-link as well but I really like the mod team there so I don't.
n/a Greedeater 2017-03-05
Don't do that.
