That time some building block enthusiasts were labeled terrorism sympathizers by a two-bit tabloid

For those morbid, obsessive manchildren artists and enthusiasts among us who prefer their Lego minifigures to possess somewhat more realistic-looking firearm models, Brickarms was the go-to solution, a man working out of his garage to mold surprisingly high-quality custom Lego gun pieces. They sold like crack, becoming a staple booth at any convention, causing the venture to make national news several times from 2007 to 2010 as it continued to expand.
Brickarms came into some less favorable coverage in 2008 with this hilarious article in The Sun, a Britbong tabloid, accusing the "absolutely disgusting" company of "glorifying terrorism" by releasing a hooded minifigure with a Kalashnikov lookalike.
This was received about as well as you could expect by a community consisting of literal children and self-described "AFOLs" (Adult Fans of Lego) on the official forums. The Wayback machine missed the second and third pages of the thread, but what's left abounds with strongly-worded letters to the editor, FAKE NEWS REEE and accusations of political correctness. First page, fourth, fifth
What you're looking at here, folks, is the moment wee lil' xjapxn got hooked on drama. That thread's stuck with me for all these years for how lovably autistic it is, and now it's yours to enjoy. Have fun.

Just what I have expected from a community like that.
The products look pretty neat. Maybe I should get back to Lego.
