I’m posting the following for posterity, so that people who ever want to know how people who protest intolerance of neuro-prejudice are treated on this site. My days are obliviously numbered here on what has become a disturbingly ableist site, and this is no longer a friendly place for people on the spectrum or with ADHD, etc., considering what has occurred to me for having written my comment in this thread, and other posts and comments I have made. I wonder if any in the news media would want to hear my story about Daily Kos.

As I posted in the help desk complaint, in response to site authority:

I am opposing neurobigotry. I am speaking out against it. More than two months ago on December 27th, 2016, I flagged a callous, mean-spirited response to my comment about bigotry, and was punished by admin for the effort, and here again, in an instance where I flagged no one at all, but simply called out wrong headed neuro-bigotry, I am punished and sanctioned again, this time clearly for the "offense" of having an opinion about site moderation.

Yes, the comment I flagged was simply an ellipsis, three periods in a row, but it was the sheer insult of that non-response, one of totally trivializing my comment, that earned the flag. An ellipsis indicates omitting words that have no import of significance, thus the meaning is that my remarks about neurodiversity were of no value or import to society. Imagine if I replied that way about sexism or racism?

Clearly, this site is on the bigoted side of the fence when it comes to neurodiversity as a value to human society. The neurodiversity movement is new, and apparently Markos, the site owner, and his staff, can't get their brains around the concept. Oh, how rich. Neurodivergent people are second class citizens on Daily Kos, and instead of owning up to the issue and giving it some needed thought, they have decided to concoct a site cover-up of their behavior by making me, not them, the culprit.

This is a tactic so reminiscent of civil rights history. The oppressed members of minority groups are the ones to be punished for concocted incidences of "misbehavior", and the oppressors invent excuses for their own behavior, exonerating themselves, shifting the focus away from their actions to the accuser.

I have been on this site for 10 years, and the worst relations with the site began when I "came out" as Aspie and ADHD and began to oppose this form of bigotry that has been around for eons but is now coalescing into formation of a civil rights movement.

And rather than be adults and do some internal soul-searching about their prejudices, they dig in and attack me. How thin skinned, and utterly free of moral consciousness. This is possibly the lowest point to which this site has sunk since I've been here, and the really disgusting thing is the only people left on the site just love this new and improved, neuro-bigoted Daily Kos. The actually aware, conscious left has fled in horror. Neurodiversity is the most recent form of civil rights movement, and the old stalwarts here aren't going to make room for us. So they try to deflect the blame away from themselves by exaggerating ratings abuse. Its pretty hard to accuse me of serial ratings abuse when I hardly ever flag. What it is, is they don't see anything wrong with what I flag. Its all okay to them, and their silence on the issue speaks volumes. You see, the great Daily Kos can't be accused of prejudice and bigotry. Not them. They're socially so perfect no one can call them out without risking punishment.

Wow. So much for the "enlightened liberalism" of this site.

The neuro-divergent community is hereby warned: Don't stand up to neuro-bigotry or you will be timed out, lose ratings ability, and probably banned (the threat is rather explicit) if you persist in calling out a form of bigotry as harmful as racism, sexism, or homophobism.

Here's the exact warning I just received (3/4/2017) while again being timed out, accusing me of flagging a comment. I have taken a screen shot with the date, coming two months after the "offense":

You have lost your ratings privileges. Bizarre. Just weird. Understand, anyone reading, that this comment occurred more than two months ago, and admin is just now giving me a warning about flagging the comment? And if they were to be honest, they would have to admit I rarely flag, and that's the absolute truth that is beyond question or doubt. I. rarely. flag.

That comment was in reply to my protesting ableism, which obviously is not a concern shared by the site admin. They punish the person standing up to ableism, not the person mocking it.

But then these brilliant people wrote this, which they posted in reply to my comment to the thread in question:

The title, I suppose, didn't help me get into their good graces.

And so I was put on NR (no ratings ability). They didn't even mention, in their red box warning two months ago, the specific act that triggered this, but instead generalized about accumulated sanctions due to abusing ratings privileges. The fact is I really don't flag people much at all, so this is a completely false statement on their part, and is a thin camouflage of their irritation with my political stances, and they are trying to create a cover story for basically punishing a neurodivergent person for standing up to bigotry. If they really had any social consciousness of this issue, they would have found a different way to impose their rules, such as "Look, zhenren, we understand your complaint, and we understand that you must have been dismayed and upset by that response, and while we support respect and rights for the neurodivergent, this was inappropriate. You can't flag while you're in a discussion."

Now, the way I see it I wasn't "in a discussion" with said person, and I actually honestly and sincerely think her comment to me was wrong and very callous, and I also think that if I had replied to a person the same way that she had, but about racism or sexism, I would have been flagged. But in this instance, neurobigotry, a term few people here want to hear much less understand, it is fine and dandy.

Now, suddenly, they give me a warning today, two months later, about the instance that occurred two months ago. The warning two months ago didn't even mention the specific instance at hand.

And here is the response I gave them, almost two months ago:

One thing I am well aware of is the lack of frequency of my issuing flags. I recall I issued one recently to BBB for blatant social Darwinism, something he is now famous for among readers, which to me is such a loathsome outlook that I deeply, deeply resent it and vehemently object to it, and it really has no place among progressives. Obviously you folk disagree, and its questionable if you even accurately understand it. But you didn't NR me for that, when it occurred, and thus I assume it wasn't enough to incite you to take action.

And I flagged, on the day of the NR, a person for mocking (she used an ellipsis) my comment about ableism, where I criticized a diary that over 500 people rec'd, the sheer number of which indicates an enormous gap in social awareness about neuro-diversity on daily kos. That entire diary and that reply really kind of stung and to me was horribly wrong and offensive. I absolutely did not expect to be mocked. I was stunned. How could a person mock my comment? How could a site that prides itself in opposing bigotry not only have a bigotry-fest, but mock a person who tries to point out the wrongness of that behavior?

The answer is obvious. It seems apparent that my view is far outside not only your own outlook and is something you don't have empathy for, but is a perspective shared by almost 600 of your "best and brightest" members. I wonder, did admin like that diary too? Did one of you rec it? Again, I suspect admin's views and lack of awareness on this topic mirrors that of the site clientele, since you chose to NR me immediately after I flagged that extraordinarily insensitive comment. Hence, I get punished, not the bigotry. Do you even understand that was bigotry? Seems that you don't, when one steps back to look at the totality of your actions.

If you want to make this public, by all means do so. Your threat doesn't bother me. What worse ordeal could you bring to me that hasn't already been brought already? You think you have some power to embarrass me? The only way you could accomplish that is through lies and fabrication. I'm not confident you would not do that.

Thus, since the NR occurred after that specific flag, and not any other, then it is connected directly to my having posted that comment about the wrongness of pathologizing ADHD and Autism as mental illness which supposedly causes Trump's perversity, when it is neurological, not psychological, and is not associated with racism, sexism, violence, assault, and all the other despicable behaviors that Trump indulges in.

So, your denial that your action has nothing to do with my having stood up against ableism is hollow and self-serving, self-justifying, and self-exonerating. I've seen so much worse behavior on the site that you blithely ignore that I can only assume a horrible bias. And you had such disrespect for me, and the issue I raised, that you didn't even notify me until now of the rationalization you have devised until I posted several comments about the NR. You didn't offer even a small gesture of understanding in your message as to why I flagged that comment. Nothing. Zilch. I think this reveals your bias, your attitude towards my comments, and your lack of an informed view of the issues I raised.

The threatening tone of your message is rather telling as well. What kind of twist and spin of this do you have up your sleeve? That I'm a serial flagger? That would be a lie, because I don't flag much at all, and I know there are people who do flag enormously, and I'm not one of them, and I don't even do much rating of comments. So I smell a large pile of personal animosity here that has built up over time, resulting in admin's overreaction.

I think you have some real soul-searching to do regarding your personal bias towards me. I think this must be historic for this site. I think it must be the first completely openly evident case where Daily Kos has sanctioned a person for criticizing the site moderation policy. Let's face it, it is simple logic to deduce that:

I wasn't sanctioned this time for past offenses, but for criticizing moderation policy. It is the criticism of the moderation (criticisms which they call "untruthful", in essence calling me a liar for having a different opinion) that prompted this. I did not flag, nor was I flagged in this instance. I stated an opinion. The opinion was not hidden nor did it violate site rules unless site rules now include refraining from criticizing the site. If I'd been so terrible I would have been banned long ago, not after ten years of participation. What makes this different: I accused moderators of neuro-bigotry, and rather than face that and answer it, they are digging down with counter-accusations based on their self-justified, concocted assertions.

This is a politically based punishment. The comment I flagged was never hidden, since I was the only one who flagged it. No real world consequences from that flagging occurred. Now two months later they come up with this excuse.

The basic take-away point here is that it isn't due to flagging (which is extremely rare for me), or anything else involving conduct in this instance, but from disagreeing with the site. Because I have a different conclusion of why I was cited in that previous instance, and have stated this view publicly, I am now being sanctioned (punished) again. In other words, at this juncture it isn't flagging or anything involving breaking rules, but simply having and stating a different view.
