Some dude in /r/Roadcam did jail time for doing 100 in a 55 and gets offended when people aren't on his side.

And apparently a brain that only has 3 cells /u/trippinwontnothard. It seems all you can remember is "fast", "BMW" and not "consequences". Going 100 in a 55 zone? Do you think everyone is as stupid as you are and don't already know you were racing?

You should count your lucky stars the punishment was so light, in Ontario if you got caught doing that it would be a $10,000 fine, loss of license for 2 years, and 6 months in prison plus your car would be impounded and you'd get to pay a couple months in fees there. All of this though is absolutely nothing compared to the brutal raping the insurance companies would do.

That's not even the worst part of the punishment. When they get out of jail, get their license back, get their car back and pay the fine, they're still in Ontario.

Zing!

Spoken like a Newfie

Newfies

fun fact: the tradition of being screeched in started with having to kiss a Newfie woman, but they were too replusive and found that tourists preferred to kiss a fish.

I may be a self-loathing Ontarian, but at least I'm not a Quebecer or Maritimer

You are all horrible Love B.C.

You are all horrible Love B.C. America

Fuck at least I can afford to live in the major city where I live. Unfortunately it's Manitoba.

He's an idiot but Virginia does have incredibly strict speeding punishments. The fact that he only served one day with 364 suspended means he had a damn good lawyer.

Not surprising he sounds like an incredibly stupid rich kid

Who the fuck buys a BMW anyway? They all look the fucking same and if you wanna go fast there's way better options.

I don't now, they have a pretty great combination of great road manners and refinement at a sane price.

It's just a thing trashy people tend to obsess over because it's a status symbol. Around my parts it used to be Audi, especially the A4 that the retards went after, now it's all about BMW. I swear you can't throw a stone in this city without hitting a "Exclusive Luxury Auto", "Euro Specialty Auto", or a BMW that's so lowered it can't go over speed bumps.

The worst part is that during the summer they have weekly "shows" where they show off their retarded cars. Stanced wheels, matte paint, shitty body kits, "euro" tail lights, and more Slavs than in an unattended sunflower field.

and more Slavs than in an unattended sunflower field.

Is this an ethnic stereotype? What does it mean?

It is an ethic stereotype based on the rather high consumption of sunflower seeds in Eastern Europe. I used it because a solid 95% of the people that participate in these "shows" are either first or second generation immigrants. Mostly Romanian but also a fair number of Russians and Serbs.

Wow, our stereotypes are getting super specific. Good job, us!

I thought you got BMW's for their crash test ratings. Apparently they're super safe? I don't know much about cars though so I may be wrong.

You're probably thinking about Volvo. You get BMWs for their road manners and Autobahn-friendly stability at speed.

Also the turn signals consistently work 100% of the time, in the off position

If you're not buying a 7 series you should be killed tbh

pretty shit sub tbh, just euros circlejerking over how much they hate americans.

oh so you mean all of Reddit

And that boy, who nobody liked, grew up to be... Sammy Hagar. Now you know the rest of the story.

Thanks Paul Harvey!

That's pretty low dude.

And still nobody likes him because he went on to ruin Van Halen.

Dude does come across as a complete douche. But I'm having a "who has not sinned cast the first stone" moment, because yeah I've done a hundred on an empty road before, in cars and motorcycles. Well over, a few times. I never made a habit of it, and yeah I was young and stupid, but it still happened.

I mean, I'm not sure I know anyone who hasn't gone into triple digits once or twice - and anything that's not a freeway is a 55 zone, no matter how smooth and straight.

casts stone

Live a little, you pussy.

Also Casts stone

Goddamn, how does that shit even happen? Explain this to me. Are we dealing with some kind of testicular defect here? Did your parents keep you on a tricycle until middle school?

My car can't reach 100, it's 3 years older than I am. As for testicular defects, they are a little bit larger than average, does that count?

Well at least you tried. And yes, that does count. You should probably get them checked out.

No, I'm too busy casting stones

I have just understood what is happening.

Fuck.

Just because you have cheated in the past, does not mean everybody has cheated in their past.

I'm not here to judge, because I've done some wrong things, too.

But that guy, woo, sure is lacking some sense for feeling so self-righteous in speeding like that.

and anything that's not a freeway is a 55 zone, no matter how smooth and straight.

in what fucking country

Just seems to be my experience in most US states.

In CA where I live the max speed limit across the state is 65 - with a few exceptions where it's 70. But you really see 65 on interstates and freeways. Pretty much all two-lane highways are 55.

When I was young, the only places where I'd try to hit serious speeds are empty straightaways on two-lane highways where you have good visibility. These days I go at most 10mph over the speed limit no matter where I am, my speed demon days are long behind me. Exceptions are when overtaking on a motorcycle.

The way I remember from the exam for unmarked speed limits (in AL) was that residential zones were 20mph, urban areas were 30mph, county roads were 40mph, highways were 50mph, and all others were 55mph.

Of course, where I'm from, pretty much any long, straight road is gonna have a cop looking to get his definitely-not-a-department-quota in for the month.

Damn, that's even worse than we have it, ouch. I've only driven in AL for a couple of hours once, crossing over from Florida towards Louisiana. Thankfully I was driving my VW Westie Vanagon, so speeding not much of an option anyhow.

If you were going that way, you probably avoided the neverending construction of I-20 (that miraculously ended a little less than a decade ago). Any area that had construction in it was 45mph. Take in mind that I-20 is the bigger corridor for trucking and you pretty much had a one-lane highway that you can barely go over 55 in without getting pulled over.

Everyone is glad that those days are behind us.

We've all done shit like this, the point is not to bitch or make excuses when you get caught.

Because you knew you were breaking the law.

Yeah i can see both sides to this. Going 45 over is pretty fucking dumb, but there are people in there saying he should go to jail for a few years. Seems a little overkill.

I don't see how that mitigates the need for criticizing dangerous behaviour. You are accelerating approximate 1.5 tons to a speed of 100+ mph. Have I done it? Yes, and it's dumb. How can you expect people to be more sympathetic if you are not yourself willing to accept that fact without trying to justify or minimize the action.

Maybe you don't feel that bad about it. I don't particularly, but then I definitely have no position where I feel like people shouldn't criticize me for it. This is more about accepting responsibility for your actions. There is always an excuse. little or huge, in most cases if you don't accept what you did, you won't really learn from it.

die

You first :3

Well, that's what will happen to you if you keep driving that fast.

The world isn't that fair.

Let me see if I can work this out from the context... Did he say 'kill yourself' by any chance?

"die"

Now that wasn't very nice. We here at /r/drama expect better behaviour from our users, even if they're teenagers being bailed out by daddy's money.

teleports behind u

"... Nothing personnel, kid"

We here at /r/drama expect better behaviour from our users

When was this new rule made?

Everything about this guy screams "teenager who's Dad owns a used car lot and gave him some old Beemer".

was sentenced to 365 days in jail, with 364 days "suspended."

the fuck? lul

Nobody in that place believed I was there for "speeding," including the guy who was there for touching little girls or something.

"Yeah, this really shitty pedophile agrees with me!" That DEFINITELY strengthens your argument.
