The weird thing about the Braasch fight (and the BJK/Riggs) was that they don't seem to serve much purpose for the guys. If the guys win all they can really say is that there is a genetic/gender advantage that men have against women in this (and most) sports. Which doesn't really malign the women in the slightest and arguably most people already agree with.

But if the guys lose? Like Riggs did? That just makes them look bitch-made. I just don't see the point of doing this from the male perspective, and I think that's why the only male tennis players that go out for these are older/past their prime mid-tier players like Braasch and Riggs.

I agree completely, but would still love to see Roger Federer take Serena Williams to the woodshed.

It probably wouldn't even be close to a fight. But I still don't see the point. Serena may be a weaker player than Federer, but that in no way lessens how amazing a player she is, given that she is a woman. She has more Wimbledon trophies than almost anyone out there.

So I think it defines your definition of "great". For instance, I am not a great fighter. I've taken a fair amount of martial arts but I'm no badass. That said I'm 6'2" 240 and fairly well built.

So let's say I challenge the karate world champion to a standard MMA style match. In the preteen division. It's quite possible that I could destroy him/her. But does that make me better than him/her? It's not exactly a laurel I would hang on my wall.

At that point it's just getting embarrassing. For the same reason I don't see the point of men going after these things I also don't see the point of women going after them. Serena is arguably one of the best women's tennis players of all time, if not the best. What's the point in her potentially undermining her own achievement by saying that she could match up against someone in the 300 range on the men's side. What in the world does she have to gain from that?

Boris Becker should become Berta Becker and win all the women's medals 20 years after retiring from man tennis.

I don't know if Becker could do it, but some guy that's ranked 250, and not making much on the men's circuit, could pull a Caitlin and get a lot of press coverage. He'd also probably be dominant. Plus the added benefit that if anyone questions the sincerity of his transformation all he has to do is call them a homophobe.
